Nintendo Switch Announced

It's the handheld/console in one. Uses real controllers, or clipped to the side, or has a stand so you can have the controller seperate in portable form. Fucking awesome.

Shown: Zelda
Skyrim Remastered
NBA
New Mario
Mario Kart with King Boo and double stacked items
Splatoon

Coming March 2017.

WTF its a fucking psp. You've been able to plug those into TVs for years. How is this exactly innovative?

This is the first nintendo console in history that I will not purchase. I'm done.

I don't understand? It's more powerful than the Wii U and it gives you choices. Totally baffeled by that reaction. How are PC's or consoles innovative? And why is that an issue?

Droford 10-20-2016 10:25 AM

The dock looks like it will scratch the screen..stupid

I mean, it's quite obviously not going to. As bad as some of Nintendo decisions are, they're never stupid in design.

Big Vic 10-20-2016 10:33 AM

This pisses me off SO MUCH!

Big Vic 10-20-2016 10:33 AM

nah jk

Droford 10-20-2016 10:35 AM

I don't think portable gaming on what amounts to a 7 inch (?) tablet will be that popular.

#BROKEN Hasney 10-20-2016 10:37 AM

It's confirmed that it is using a custom NVidia processor.

Dunno, iPad games are. And if not, just leave it in the dock.

They aren't innovative per se. But they destroy anything Nintendo has made in years because they push way more power. Nintendo relies on innovation. Wii and WiiU completely relied on it due to their inferior hardware.

Now we get a weak system with no innovation. It's going to flop just like the WiiU did.

Big Vic 10-20-2016 10:51 AM

It seems cool but I'd be more excited if I still played games.

Big Vic 10-20-2016 10:53 AM

Is it small enough to be considered a handheld? Can I fit it in my pocket?

Eh, it's at least around an XB1 and has Nintendo games. Like until either MS or Sony give me anything that touches Mario, Smash, Pokemon, Zelda or Mario Kart in those genres, it's always going to be a great companion console.

Now I just don't need to buy a home console and a handheld, it's all in one and much more powerful than another clamshell handheld could be. That's fucking sweet to me. It's a massive leap for their portable platfoem which is the most exciting part for me.

Sepholio 10-20-2016 10:59 AM

LOL you said Pokemans.

Cool King 10-20-2016 11:16 AM

It's pretty cool.

I'm pretty sure I'll be buying it and I'm looking forward to finding out more information on it.

Tom Guycott 10-20-2016 11:20 AM

Fuck this reveal trailer. I don't want to be sold on "cool factor" or clicking noises.

Need intel on shit like undocked battery life, actual confirme launch titles (not the superimposed shit to show people playing a game, game format (carts? Discs? Hybrids? Download only?)

Do like the "big boy" controller, though. Looks like the 360 gamepad had sex with a Wavebird, and they made an attractive offspring that would actually be comfortable and intuitive to hold and use. Docking those paddle things to a pad for that sort-of controllerseems a bit wonky and/or pointless though.

#BROKEN Hasney 10-20-2016 11:23 AM

Carts. It shows people using carts.

It comes out in March. There's plenty of time for all that. They just wanted to confirm the core concept before the investors meeting. They apparently wanted to do a full reveal last month, but Mario wasn't where they wanted it before doing a full show off.

Where do I pre-order?

Was there a Mario Adventure game like Galaxy for the 3DS?

Not really. There was a Mario 3D Land, which is like a smaller 3D World.

I think that specifically works on software only.

It works on amiibo, so it's not just software.

Ruien 10-20-2016 03:09 PM

So is this the NX thing? I want this for Zelda since the Wii U never gave me a new game. I don't need the WII U for this right? Probably going 5o buy it since Nintendo still rocks.

Kalyx triaD 10-20-2016 03:25 PM

So let's talk about the death of the 3DS...

Emperor Smeat 10-20-2016 03:28 PM

Found it really interesting EA was among the list of companies working on Switch games considering the feud they had with Nintendo over the Wii U. Just getting sports games from them would already be a huge improvement for Nintendo.

There's allegedly another year of software yet. Think the Wii U only has the cross-gen Zelda and that's it.

Huh. Our much shittier offer of a £2 voucher on pre orders doesn't work with Amiibo.

Fignuts 10-20-2016 04:44 PM

Looks pretty sexy to me.

#BROKEN Hasney 10-20-2016 04:51 PM

The rumours for months have been ports of Smash Wii U, Mario Kart and Splatoon for launch window, so I'm glad this confirms some of it. But both Splatoon and MK look different enough that there's at least some changes to make them different, which is good, because they'll probably want full price again.

Hoping there are more Wii U classics too. Not for me, but I know a lot of people who will be interested in this who never got a Wii U.

Emperor Smeat 10-20-2016 06:03 PM

While it was shown during the debut trailer, Bethesda is currently not confirming Skyrim Remastered will be getting released for the Switch. Although they did confirm they are currently working on Switch games.

This

Seems PrettyCool, but I don't really play games anymore, and can't seem to get back into them no matter how hard I try/want to.......

Locke 10-20-2016 08:57 PM

I lost interest in handhelds when I was about 15 and most of Nintendo's focus since then has been pushing the handheld. I'm sure I'll get this a year or two after its release but I'm not that stoked

Wishbone 10-20-2016 10:04 PM

If the rumors about a main series Pokemon game developed by Gamefreak coming to this thing are true then I'll be picking it up for sure first chance I get. Any word on the price tag?

They're calling this a home console. Realistically, merging the two is the best thing because Nintendo's output won't be split so you'll get the big console experiences and...

Stuff like Pokemon. I'm guessing next years will still be 3DS, but after that it's Switch or nothing.
Nothing concrete on price, but most sources guess $300 or under.

In other words, "please don't wait until March, but Skyrim Remastered at launch and double dip!"

Emperor Smeat 10-21-2016 06:29 PM

Nintendo announced physical 3DS and Wii U games will not be compatible for the Switch but digital games could end up being made compatible during the Switch's life.

Blizzard debunking rumors of them currently working on a Hearthstone port for the Switch after saying they only used the official Hearthstone Twitter account to make a meme joke based on recent a teaser image involving Mario and the NX announcement.

Looks cool. I'm not big into gaming either. Still play the PS2 from time to time. Having good sports games for Nintendo like NBA 2K and Madden would be great in my opinion. Feel like this can at least compete with XBox and PlayStation better than the Wii did.

The Wii outsold them
