PorkSoda posts in music. Does he make posts about how he just listened to Led Zeppelin IV and Abbey Road for the first time last night and doesn't get what all the fuss is about?

The Bravery - The Sun and The Moon

Rating: 7.5/10

Favorite song: "This is Not the End'

Pretty solid album. One of their songs kept playing at work, so I thought I'd check out the album. I wasn't disappointed. Pretty typical rock album, but there are some catchy tunes.

Anybody Thrilla 01-05-2010 04:47 PM

Incubus - Light Grenades

Rating - 10/10

Favorite Song - "Paper Shoes"

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FHX2qiVkJ40&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FHX2qiVkJ40&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Incubus is pretty much my favorite band ever, so I may be a little biased on the rating. "Paper Shoes" isn't even really my favorite song on the album, but it'd be hard to pick just one. They really ventured out in this album and weren't afraid to take risks, which I feel paid off. There were rock out moments, chill out moments, great lyrics, and great music. I feel like I want to listen to this album every day.

Vampire Weekend - Contra

8/10

Really good. <3 this. Listening again now. First album got "played out" really fast but this feels like it will have more replay value.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-09-2010 07:42 PM

Tegan and Sara - The Con

8/10

Need to get some more of their stuff.

OssMan 01-09-2010 10:22 PM

Neutral Milk Hotel - On Avery Island

9/10

Love their style so much. It's like everything I would ever want to do musically. And some of the most incredible songwriting I have ever seen.

Life is not a waiting room - Senses Fail
6/10

Listened to this from start to finish for the first time. It has a couple good songs (Fireworks at Dawn, Lungs Like Gallows, Hair of the Dog) but for the most part its pretty much a "one time play" album. Lot of songs that are just average. Definitely their weakest album.

ron the dial 01-20-2010 11:43 PM

i'm listening to trio's new one right now and while i'm not done with it i can tell it won't be any higher than a 6

edit - i'll give it a final score of 5.5. lackluster, rehashed, boring, but enjoyable for what it is.

this vampire weekend album, though. i'm feeling pretty comfortable throwing an 8.5 at it, but i think i like it even more than that. enjoy it more than the first one, and that's saying something.

Brand New - Daisy 6/10

Dunno, not 'loving it' the way I did The Devil and God. Noro and At The Bottom are my favourite tracks. Also listened to it a few times and it seems to be growing on me. Maybe I'll come to love it, dunno.

You're not alone on this. I hated Daisy. Well, wouldn't say hate but really didn't "feel" it like I did past Brand New albums.

I am going through a few of my old albums.

The Streets- A Grand Don't Come For Free.

For a time this album almost spoke directly to me. It still does in many ways. Dry Your Eyes is an amazing song lyrically. Mike Skinner always had that gift of honesty and sincerity that made it feel like you were just listening to a pal just have a chat with you about his life.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/x7MCbis75wk&hl=en_GB&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/x7MCbis75wk&hl=en_GB&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

There are better songs on the album, but this one is probably the song I identify with most. Even if you remove the whole plot of his girl Simone cheating on him with his friend Dan no song really sums up clubbing like this. Even down to taking too much MDMA because you original think the pills are shit so you get overwhelmed to the point where you can just sorta move your arms.

One of the few songs that hits me just right.

I'd give the album 9.5/10

RP 01-30-2010 01:26 PM

I love Jason Aldeans new album. Love the song The Truth.
