The Destroyer 11-28-2011 12:39 PM

Finally got around to playing this, enjoying it so far.

Wonder if my attempt to play a hybrid magic/warrior type class will go as badly as it did in Oblivion.

Dunno what you're rambling about, but I found Morrowind's main storyline to be very engaging and exciting, and was absolutely (no lie) the only thing I did until it was completed.

What, no Mournhold, Knights of the Nine or Shivering Isles? Because if they're going to include Morrowind, Oblivion, and Bloodmoon, they might as well include Tribunal and the Oblvion G.o.t.Y. edition stuff too.

Have you played through the main quest to the point where the Greybeards summon you personally up to High Hrothgar and had shout training from them? Because you can't do shouts until after that, and you have to go back to them later after the main quest part in question in order to get them to show you how to do any of the shouts you've learned on word walls.

I don't think that's accurate. AFAIK if you have dragon souls you can unlock any shouts you find. Or maybe I just didn't pay attention and you're right. It doesn't sound right though. Dunno.

Well now, lets see if that goes as badly for me as well then. There is just something about a bloody axe in one hand and a fireball coming from the other that makes me all giddy :D

I have the Prima Games guide @ home but I'm at the library right now or I'd look it up. Could swear they said you had to talk to a Greybeard to learn anything but the push and whirlwind sprint thu'ums/shouts.

Not to be a dick but don't really care right now as far as all things Skyrim go. About to hit level 40 next time I play.

DAMN iNATOR 11-28-2011 04:10 PM

It's "tl;dr" to copy and paste but GameInformer has some helpful hints, especially if you're a series newb to TES.

El Fangel 11-28-2011 07:51 PM

Installing this to HD at the moment. Anyone else done that?

DAMN iNATOR 11-28-2011 07:53 PM

Not I. I've only got 8.7GB of a 20GB hard drive as of right now to work with. Add in all the big games I've still yet to play (AC: Revelations, NFS: The Run, SR: The Third, MW3, and Batman: AC) in some form and I don't know if I'd want to take up precious space.

Although to be fair, I'll probably go to this little shop in town once I get money for X-Mas to upgrade to either a 60- or 120GB HDD.

El Fangel 11-28-2011 07:56 PM

Takes a bit to load at times, think it will help iirc.

El Fangel 11-29-2011 10:11 AM

I met my first giant last night.

He wasn't as friendly as the one Dahl wrote about. Smacked me about 30 feet into the air.

The Destroyer 11-29-2011 12:35 PM

Yeah, that seems to be standard. I had two bandit corpses virtually fall out of the sky in front of me, turned out they'd had a run in with a giant.

Yes. It was just a glitch, next time I booted up the game it worked fine.

El Fangel 12-01-2011 12:37 AM

The first time you, walked out of the cavern into the world did you say "...whoa"

El Fangel 12-01-2011 08:36 AM

Oh, what sort of class are you people playing?

Warrior with proficiency in destruction and restoration magic for me.

What Would Kevin Do? 12-02-2011 12:44 PM

My guy is a dark elf, mainly focused on destruction, but he has decent archery and sneaking skills, an I'm working on some Illusion stuff now.

Basically I built up archery and sneak so I get X3 for archery sneak attacks, and when I zoom with the bow, it slows down time 25%. Basically, I can usually sap some energy before an enemy, and then when they finally see me, I can blast them with magic. Pretty nice.

Poit 12-02-2011 04:32 PM

My character (an altmer) has changed focus a few times, but my current combat routine is to open up with ranged sneak attacks, then summon something and cast an armor buff, then go into melee with my dual axes. For hard fights, I dip into my giant pile of paralysis poisons.

El Fangel 12-02-2011 04:35 PM

Yeah, Battlecry and Paralysis is what will likely win you most fights it seems :)

Kris P Lettus 12-02-2011 04:40 PM

Just got it a few days ago.. Sneaky Argonian as per usual..

Kinda hard finding certain areas but after 2 days am already level 13..

Done most of the Companions shit, not too much main story, and a few other side quests..

Bought a house in Whiterun too..

Emperor Smeat 12-02-2011 05:35 PM

Bethesda will release for free to the public the development kit/tools to make mods for the PC version of the game starting next month.

How long do you have to wait to re-marry if your wife dies "accidentally"? Wish I knew I could have married my Housecarl but she died in battle anyways.

El Fangel 12-02-2011 07:57 PM

This is hands down the best RPG I have ever played. I have been dicking around for hours creating potions.

El Fangel 12-02-2011 10:10 PM

GOTY.

I'm a Nord with Heavy Armor, One handed weapons and destruction magic. Some Conjuration mixed in too. I love raising zombies.

Im playing a nord with heavy armor, using war axes and using firebolt. :D

El Fangel 12-04-2011 06:57 PM

That moment when you are walking through a mountain pass, something just doesnt seem right and all of a sudden a huge dark shadow and you mutter "...fuck"

El Capitano Gatisto 12-04-2011 06:58 PM

And then what?

El Fangel 12-04-2011 07:37 PM

I realized I left my Fire Resistance potion in my cupboard in Whiterun :(

I managed to win, but used quite a bit of potions I had been saving.

El Capitano Gatisto 12-04-2011 07:38 PM

Oh.

El Fangel 12-04-2011 07:40 PM

What class/style you play ECG?

James Diesel 12-05-2011 02:11 AM

Found out about followers being injured the hard way today. Was walking around with Erandur to Nightcaller Temple and outside the front door we were ambushed by 3-4 frost spiders (I was level 12). Anyways I finish them off and find Erandur to be crawling across the ground barely moving a foot every 5 minutes. Thought it was a glitch for a good half hour. Did dishes while I waited. Then found out I could just "wait" 3 hours. Ignorance aside, it was a good day

Emperor Smeat 12-05-2011 04:45 PM

Bethesda promises a lot of patches will arrive after the holiday season with the majority dealing with re-balancing the game's difficulty.

PC owners will also get preferred treatment when it comes to patches in terms of a lot more will be available and arrive faster than console owners. They are blaming Sony and Microsoft for the slower and stricter certification process.

http://www.screwattack.com/news/skyr...aying-consoles

Also revealed was the save glitch issue for the PS3 version will be taking a long time to patch saying the problem is due to the game's engine and the way the PS3 uses its RAM. They don't have any quick fixes for that issue nor have seen it become a problem on the Xbox 360 version.

El Fangel 12-05-2011 10:16 PM

Where the hell did you manage to stock up on paralysis potions.

Poit 12-05-2011 10:31 PM

A paralysis potion sounds like a terrible idea. You can just make paralysis poisons, though.

LoDownM 12-06-2011 03:04 AM

Finally went and did the achievement for restoring the thieves guild to glory. Talk about an annoying process. Only 9 to go till 100%. But they are all ones that are going to be more annoying and longer then the thieves guild one.

D Mac 12-06-2011 06:01 AM

Got Azura's Star. Was a bitch at the end beating the final boss and his Dremora minions.

I hope you got the Black Star. Otherwise, that's shitty for you.

Despite my best efforts I still haven't discovered how to make one of those.

El Fangel 12-06-2011 02:11 PM

Also please no spoilers, I want that feeling of glee when I finally figure it out.
