One of the more interesting things from a recent Jericho podcast that had Edge as the guest involved the ending to the Team WWE vs Team Nexus match a few years ago. Apparently the DDT spot and ending was Cena's idea while others in the back were pushing for something different.

Quote:

Chris Jericho: ”It was Team WWE vs. Team Nexus, and the finish boiled down to [Edge] and [Jericho] in there, but it was Cena against a couple of them. John wanted to do things a certain way and we told him ‘you’re wrong’. He did it anyways, and it sucked. And then after he came over to us and said ‘I should have listened to you, but I wasn’t seeing it that way.’”
Edge: ”I remember. I was like, fine I’m out of the match by that point.”
Chris Jericho: ”He wanted to get DDT’d on the floor by Barrett, then kick out and beat them both. And you and I were like, that’s the dumbest thing. That’s just throwing it away for no reason.”
Edge: ”They should have gone over because they were so hot.”
Chris Jericho: ”We were fighting for Barrett to go over. And where’s Wade Barrett now?”

Start the Cena burying for his own good statements now.

Kinda shocked though that Cena would snub off an idea with out conversation. (Unless there was one which neither Jericho or Edge further elaborated)

I've got some good news for Wade Barrett. Edge and Chris Jericho are fans of yours.

I've got some bad news....

John Cena isn't.

Yaaappadoo!

I love these podcasts, Stone Cold's, Jericho's, and even Cornette's is good. Gives great insight to the business, and you can tell the older generation of stars dislike the way the business is now.

Only thing I would have done differently then was, if Cena HAD to win, have him win it with Bryan. That way, establish a new star like that.

Next to the HHH/HBK rivalry, I feel that the HHH/Flair feud in 2005 was some of the best storytelling in a long term storyline the past decade.

Genuinely one of my fave WM matches. Not sure why.

It was a very simple build, set up only a couple of weeks prior, but it was a good match. Obviously, there wasn't the spectacle of the last few years WM matches, but as a throwaway, "find something for them to do" match, it was really good.

*Quick observations on the 15 Superstars who missed the bigtime*
WWE still does not mention Benoit when talking of The Radicalz:
http://www.wwe.com/classics/classic-...-deals/page-11

And WWE totally ignores Raven's multiple TNA World title runs and The Gathering:
"Given the opportunity, Raven likely could have commandeered a cult of followers en route to World Titles in other companies outside ECW."
http://www.wwe.com/classics/classic-...r-deals/page-4

GD 12-29-2013 06:57 PM

As far as I know, Raven won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in TNA. WWE doesn't acknowledge NWA / TNA World title reigns.

That's so cute. He's adorable.

Hey did the Wyatt family kidnapping Bryan for a week have any real conclusion? Or did they take him, reference through CM Punk on the following smackdown that "he hadn't heard from Bryan" and then they dropped it?

GD 12-30-2013 03:14 AM

Can Batista, Mason Ryan and Roman Reigns pull off "the switch" like the Bella Twins? The cool part is that they are three instead of two. Isn't that more appealing?

lol. I think it was another weird crying Jericho-esque example of coming up with the beginning of a story without thinking past the first chapter.

More intriguing question: If the Bellas were triplets, who would the third one be dating?

GD 12-30-2013 03:30 AM

The Great Khali.

There's so many little things of The Shield saying shit at ringside in their tag matches and just having fun with their characters. They're all rubbing off on each other by the looks of things.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan found him and started defending him.

Watched the Balls Mahoney Youshoot. Balls is nuts, but he's boring nuts.

Mr. Nerfect 12-30-2013 09:36 AM

Each of The Shield has something about them that I really like. Dean Ambrose has got some sort of unhinged charisma like a Brian Pillman, Stone Cold Steve Austin or "Rowdy" Roddy Piper; Seth Rollins has this Jeff Hardy/CM Punk vibe to him; and Roman Reigns is like a cross between The Rock and Batista.

I'm excited to see where their careers go once they do the split, but I still really want them to kind of stay together forever. They could keep winning at WrestleMania every year and get their own sort of streak going. Then give them their own individual achievements. Dean Ambrose can keep on dominating the US Title scene. If The Rock is healthy and interested, he could return and put his cousin over cleanly. Try to make all three stars without turning them on each other.

Mr. Nerfect 12-30-2013 09:42 AM

I've been hearing great things about New Japan Pro Wrestling lately. What's the best way to keep up with them?
