Corporate CockSnogger 04-18-2013 05:03 PM

I think Heroes is probably the most clusterfucky tv show I've ever seen.

Tommy Gunn 04-19-2013 06:38 AM

Heroes was abandoned by most of it's fans for turning into a huge pile of fucking shit. I was relieved when it was put out of it's misery.

Kalyx triaD 04-19-2013 11:40 AM

Why? I enjoyed Season 4 and was interested in another one.

Heisenberg 04-19-2013 12:17 PM

I miss HRG and Claire-bear...

Corporate CockSnogger 04-19-2013 01:00 PM

The 4th season was so much better than the 2nd and 3rd, but they'd damaged the core characters and plot lines a lot in those two. I lost count of how many times Sylar flip flopped between being a good guy and a bad guy.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-19-2013 01:01 PM

Also Peter Petrelli was probably my least favourite leading character in a show ever.

Heisenberg 04-19-2013 01:05 PM

Nathan was obviously the better of the two.

Tommy Gunn 04-19-2013 01:35 PM

I fell on the 'kill the cheerleader, save the show' side of things. Season 1 was great, but then it turned into a soap opera and I couldn't give the slightest amount of fucks about poor Claire and her melodramas.

Kalyx triaD 04-19-2013 01:58 PM

But why were you happy for me not to have the show? You said you were relieved. This is strange to me. I see you don't like the show, but how does its existence trouble you? Could you not just stop watching it? Strange.

alvarado52 04-19-2013 02:03 PM

The highlights of the entire show was Season 1, the Villians arch (though they still dropped the ball with it), and...

*SPOILERS IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE ENTIRE SERIES*

when Parkman used his ability to trick Sylar into becoming Nathan based on his memories.

Kalyx triaD 04-19-2013 03:03 PM

That was classic DC shit right there. Loved it.

whiteyford 04-19-2013 06:14 PM

Heroes should have been so much better than it was.

Lock Jaw 04-19-2013 06:17 PM

Stopped watching Heroes after Volume Three because I thought the season was over. Never got back into it.

I know everybody "hated" it, but the second season was the best of what I saw. With whatshisface who was immortal or something.

The Destroyer 04-20-2013 05:55 AM

I nearly held out until the end, but gave up about 3 or 4 episodes before the end of the last season. Shame it never really lived up to the first one.

Swiss Ultimate 04-21-2013 12:26 PM

"Don't say another Goddamn word. Up until now, I've been polite. If you say anything else - word one - I will kill myself. And when my tainted spirit finds its destination, I will topple the master of that dark place. From my black throne, I will lash together a machine of bone and blood, and fueled by my hatred for you this fear engine will bore a hole between this world and that one. When it begins, you will hear the sound of children screaming - as though from a great distance. A smoking orb of nothing will grow above your bed, and from it will emerge a thousand starving crows. As I slip through the widening maw in my new form, you will catch only a glimpse of my radiance before you are incinerated. Then, as tears of bubbling pitch stream down my face, my dark work will begin. I will open one of my six mouths, and I will sing the song that ends the Earth."

Kalyx triaD 04-21-2013 12:38 PM

Loved that Lovecraftian threat.

ClockShot 04-21-2013 08:38 PM

G4 is in it's final hours right now and NBC is sending it off a couple episodes of Top Chef and Half Baked to take it into monday morning.

Kinda sad, figured there would be a special or two to say goodbye. :wavesad:

Heisenberg 04-21-2013 08:43 PM

Not good at all, not fair.

Kalyx triaD 04-21-2013 09:08 PM

When X-Play was gutted G4 was useless to me. Video killed the radio star and all that.

It had a great run and resurrection and four movie specials. I say it did all it can do.

Lock Jaw 04-23-2013 01:38 AM

Still 13 new episodes over the summer before cancellation, though.

Who knows, maybe Netflix will pick it up. :shifty:

Netflix is going to drop around 1800 videos from their streaming library during May. Several of their licenses with studios and companies expire next month and won't be renewed.

Quote:

According to InstantWatcher, a site that catalogs the comings and goings of Netflix's streaming catalog, the service will be saying farewell to 1,794 different titles in May. That number includes 15 seasons of South Park, old horror movies like Audrey Rose, and James Bond classics like Dr. No and Goldfinger. According to Slate, the drop comes because several licensing deals Netflix has in place with studios like MGM, Warner Bros., and Universal are expiring.

Getting close to dropping my Netflix service if they can't keep hold of all these licences.

How's Hulu or any of those competitors?

The Jayman 05-01-2013 03:51 PM

Hulu is great for tv shows. Not much of a selection on movies

ClockShot 05-01-2013 04:02 PM

Netflix had the best of both worlds. TV and Movies all under 1 roof.

Hulu got TV but sparse on the movies.

Vudu got the Movies but no TV.

Aren't their any other services around?

Emperor Smeat 05-01-2013 04:25 PM

Amazon is another although not sure how big or small their streaming service is compared to those. After that its mostly the studios or companies themselves providing their own stuff (ex. Warner Bros streaming service, South Park Studios, etc).

Tommy Gunn 05-23-2013 07:11 AM

I got Netflix just for the convenience of browsing instant movies instead of choosing something and waiting for it to download, then copy over to my PS3 etc. Also they have a lot of older movies (especially on the US version) that are hard to find to download on the internet.

Anyways, as for Arrested Development, that'll be splashed over the torrent sites on day 1, so I wouldn't get Netflix for anything more than convenience.

Corporate CockSnogger 05-23-2013 01:58 PM

I got the Netflix free month trial this week for Arrested Development. It might just be the UK version but there's not an awful lot of stuff in the movies section. Seems to be about 4 or 5 recent films for each genre and then the rest is just B movies, with the occasional cult classic in there. Looks alright for tv shows though.

It goes out of sync really quickly for me as we'll if I'm watching anything over 90 minutes or so. Probably just cause its on a netbook so it's not really powerful enough to stream anything longer. Won't be extending it after the trial period anyway.

XL 05-23-2013 02:51 PM

A mate of mine was telling me how he'd managed to change his settings on his UK account so that he could access the US playlists. Should probably ask him how it did that.

Corporate CockSnogger 05-23-2013 03:38 PM

Yeah a mate of mine mentioned the same to me but I can't be bothered getting it anyway really.

CSL 05-23-2013 04:04 PM

if you change your mind, it literally takes 30 seconds, just a case of changing the DNS settings (on consoles anyway) crazy how much more content the Yanks have

Tommy Gunn 05-23-2013 04:04 PM

I had the US version running by paying a few quid a month to Unblock US, so it bumped my total Netflix cost from £5.99 to about £8-9, worth it though for all the extra TV series and crap 80s b-movies.

CSL 05-23-2013 04:08 PM

it's free, you just have to change the DNS settings every now and again

XL 05-23-2013 07:03 PM

CSL 06-11-2013 09:20 PM

if you're on 360, I'm not sure, you'd have to look it up. If you're on PS3, just go to the connection settings, go through the process of setting up your connection again and manually enter the US DNS settings, which you pretty much just have to type "US Netflix DNS settings" into Google to find

CSL 06-11-2013 09:21 PM

really enjoying season 3 of The Killing right now, it's so much better now it's not following the Danish version and doing it's own thing.

I'm not knocking the original series at all, it was great in it's own right, it's just a lot of the more European story elements didn't translate well to an American setting.

Comic-Con News: Comic creator Rob Liefeld (X-Force, Youngblood) is teaming up with former MMA fighter-turned-actress Gina Carano (Fast and Furious 6) to bring Liefeld’s 1990s comic book heroine Avengelyne to the big screen. Avengelyne is the latest of a number of recent projects announced featuring bodacious 90s comic book babes including Chastity (see "Chastity Optioned for Movies & TV") and Painkiller Jane (see "Marvel Gets 'Painkiller Jane'").

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott Karp and Brooklyn Weaver are producing and packaging Avengelyne along with Carano and Liefeld. The hope is to create a franchise built around Carano in much the same way that the Underworld series is built around Kate Beckinsale. The quartet will begin searching for a screenwriter for the project next week.

There're folks who've put up wrestling matches from the 60s, so I thought it'd be worth a try. Plus, NBC released some of the first few years on DVD a little bit ago.

Michael Lee gave himself a design challenge recently: redesign several popular comic book heroines (Vampirella is included, so I guess they’re not all superheroes in the classic sense) but keep them covered from toe to neck and wrist to wrist, without resorting to costumes that could be reproduced solely by body paint, while keeping the bold look of their standard costume.
Applaud the effort, but don't care for the results.

The first Spawn movie debuted in 1997 and earned a total of $87.8 million worldwide, barely enough to defray its $40 million cost, but plans for a sequel were announced in 1998, and various projects have slipped away over the intervening years. Now however, with several extremely talented African-American actors such as Jamie Foxx expressing interest in playing Spawn on the big screen, the project appears to have regained some momentum.

McFarlane told The Gate that he is under pressure to provide a screenplay for the sequel, “The reality is that I have a lot of pressure. They want me to deliver a script by the end of the year, which would basically mean that we would be shooting next year. So that’s the goal right now.” McFarlane is talking about writing, directing, and producing the sequel, which means that he has to clear lots of time from his busy schedule to focus on the project.

As for the sequel itself, McFarlane sees it as basically different from the first film, “In terms of production, the Spawn remake will be a very different film from the original, a 60-70 day shoot… I think it’s a quick shoot. It’s not going to have a giant budget or a lot of special effects. It’s going to be more of a horror movie and thriller movie, not a superhero one. I’ve got so many people phoning me now that I have got to get it done. I’ve made some promises to people this year.”

The question remains will movie-going audiences remember the character after such a long hiatus from the screen—and it’s not exactly as if Spawn comics have much of the heat today that they had back in 1997. But McFarlane is promising to “get this project off the ground with some big names,” and it may be the cast, rather than the franchise that brings the crowds to a Spawn sequel, when and if one does materialize on the big screen.
