John Carter:

Budget: $250 million
Box office: $179,272,000

Do you math at all?

Droford 03-20-2012 02:30 PM

Disney is claiming a loss of over $250 million..I guess its where they expected it to actually you know..make $200 million on top of what they paid to make it? That would mean the Box office should be like $500 million?

Kalyx triaD 03-20-2012 02:34 PM

Forget it, I read the article.

Triple Naitch 03-20-2012 06:34 PM

Does that budget include advertising and promotion and other expenses?

Kalyx triaD 03-20-2012 06:54 PM

Not sure. Usually not but this is Disney here.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie Micheal Bay is making will involve the turtles being aliens who arrive on Earth instead of their origins being turtles who mutated.

Quote:

"When you see this movie, kids are going to believe, one day, that these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie. These turtles are from an alien race and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable."
Quote:

"Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world."
According to others, Bay isn't working with the actual creator of the series but instead the creator of the live-action movies from the late 80s to early 90s.

@ Uk people. So glad Facejacker is back on again. One of the few silly sketch shows channel 4 has made that I really enjoy.

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are doubling down on dumbing down at the movies. At least, according to Peter Farrelly they are.

"Dumb and Dumber" co-writer and co-director Farrelly confirmed that Carrey and Daniels have signed on to reprise their roles as laugh-inducing nitwits Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne in a sequel to the 1994 comedy.

Farrelly made the reveal during Sunday's junket for the Farrelly Brothers' upcoming comedy "The Three Stooges," according to ComingSoon.net.

"We're getting set to shoot 'Dumb and Dumber 2' in September," Farrelly said. "It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back."

The 1994 film chronicled a cross-country trek by well-intentioned but profoundly stupid pals Lloyd and Harry.

The movie spawned a 2003 prequel of sorts, "Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd," starring Derek Richardson and Eric Christian Olsen as Harry and Lloyd, respectively.

Farrelly was quick to disavow the 2003 version during the "Three Stooges" junket. He added that Daniels and Carrey were both eager to do the sequel, but the latter was hampered by schedule conflicts.

"We did not do 'Dumb and Dumberer,'" Farrelly emphasized.

"That was a studio thing. So we've always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, 'We've got to do this thing again.' He had just watched 'Dumb and Dumber' and he said, 'This is the perfect sequel. Let's do it.'
I think they should have just left it alone..but it'll have to be better than the 03 sequel which was just awful aside from Bob Saget.

Between this, Anchorman 2, and Beetlejuice 2 - I'm pretty sure the world will end due to awesomeness.

Lock Jaw 04-03-2012 04:48 PM

WAIT.

There's a Beetlejuice 2 coming?!

Kalyx triaD 04-03-2012 04:55 PM

Yes. Tim Burton and Micheal Keaton attached. And no, Keaton isn't doing some cameo for us old folk. He's starring. Johnny Depp will be involved somehow in a move that makes perfect sense.

Rammsteinmad 04-25-2012 07:17 PM

So apparently a remake of Starship Troopers is in the works. :foc:

Kalyx triaD 04-25-2012 08:31 PM

And on that director's work, Robocop as well.

PorkSoda 04-25-2012 09:01 PM

Robocop will be played by Joel Kinnaman.

With a "more serious/dark tone" no doubt.

Can only visit this thread in the movies/tv/books forum at the minute. Can't view the threads for Avengers, Marvel Comics, Game of Thrones or Rate the last movie... in case of spoilers. :-\

Anyone watch the Comedy Awards tonight? Pretty good overall. I didn't even know that they did this last year too.

Finally, a meaningless award show I can kind of look forward to.

CSL 05-10-2012 05:08 PM

"rumours abound" that NBC will cancel/finish up 30 Rock, Community and Parks and Rec with shortened final seasons this year. Some "more official" sites are starting to pick up the story, just have a bit of doubt given how much you Yanks like to run your sitcoms past their sell by dates and there's surely still a bit of life left in 30 Rock and especially Parks and Red (naturally the best of the 3 has been on the bubble since it started and isn't much of a surprise)

Savio 05-10-2012 05:25 PM

Watched the Comedy Awards on demand a few days ago. Pretty good tribute and speech from Don Rickles.

Lots of jokes about how the Comedy Awards don't matter. At least Louis CK won a few even though they don't count for shit.

Also they didn't censor it and finally Amy Poeller won an award for being Leslie Knoppe.
