New film in the Saw series is rumored to be in production.

Quote:

According to the Tracking Board, new writers have been hired by producers at Lionsgate to write the film, which is currently titled Saw: Legacy. Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger previously penned 2010's Piranha 3D, as well as its sequel Piranha 3DD.

Saw: Legacy will also see the return of the series' creators, James Wan and Leigh Whannell, who will serve as executive producers. Wan has since become one of Hollywood's hottest directors, following the success Furious 7 and The Conjuring. He is to direct 2018's Aquaman for DC.

Crystal Dynamics announced a new Tomb Raider film is currently in production and will be more of an origin story for the series and Laura Croft character. Also to be influenced by the series games for character direction.
Quote:

When asked about the impact of Crystal Dynamics’ rebooted version of Lara Croft on the film’s depiction of the character during an interview with IGN, Tomb Raider director Roar Uthaug said that the developer’s ability to make Croft relatable will “definitely” be reflected in the film.

“I think making Lara Croft feel like a real human being, that’s definitely something we want to bring to the big screen as well,” he said. “I think we’ll want to make people relate to Lara as a character. I’m hoping to bring some of my Norwegian sensibilities to the franchise.”

The director went on to say that he’d like to make Tomb Raider “feel like a modern action movie” with a realistic atmosphere. Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who wrote the screenplay for 2017’s Transformers 5, will also be writing Tomb Raider, so let’s hope that “modern action” doesn’t translate into “explosion-centric.” Or, if the Michael Bay angle is unavoidable, at least have Lara Croft transform into a large truck.

Anyone watching 11/22/63 on Hulu?

Lock Jaw 03-24-2016 04:42 AM

No, but I just watched the last episode of Lucifer.... Felt some "emotions" @ it......

Shouldn't get too invested, though, because I know FOX will cancel it.....

Fignuts 03-30-2016 03:41 AM

Watching Clone Wars. Just started the second season. It's really good so far, and I hear it only gets better with each season.

Cad Bane is fucking awesome. Really like Ashoka too. Anakin is much better in this than he ever was in the films.

This show is way darker than I thought it would be. I think more people died in the first season than every cartoon I watched as a kid combined.

Similar to The Walking Dead tv show, Game of Thrones will be getting its own special weekly recap show starting later this month.

Quote:

With the premiere of Game of Thrones season six just a few weeks away, HBO has now announced a new "after show" for the fantasy program. It's being headed up by talent from sports and entertainment veteran Bill Simmons' new network The Ringer, which HBO partnered with in 2015.

The new show, called After the Thrones, is similar to AMC's Talking Bad and Talking Dead, in that hosts will recap and analyze the events of the latest episode. The show will air the Mondays after new episodes through HBO Go, HBO Now, and HBO On Demand, as well as via traditional cable at a later date.

Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan, who previously worked on the Game of Thrones podcast Watch the Thrones at Grantland, will host the show.

"Each week, After the Thrones will recap the latest episode, explaining the who, what, when and where, exploring the complicated politics and history of Thrones, and offering absurd and not-so-absurd theories about future episodes," HBO said in a news release.

Simmons is an executive producer for After the Thrones.

Yeah, it's a pretty great piece for the Star Wars canon. 100 times better than the crappy prequel movies. When you finish it up you should definitely check out Rebels too. It's every bit as good in my opinion if not more so.

Lock Jaw 04-04-2016 11:32 PM

Haven't watched Clone Wars in awhile.... somewhere near the end of season 4 I think.... I don't even remember....

Should pick it up again... because it was indeed good stuff...

Netflix expected to increase subscription prices starting next month and mainly targets those "grandfathered" into lower rates.

New rate is expected to be $10 per month for all users.

Quote:

Millions of Netflix users will soon need to pay more to stream their favorite TV shows and movies. Starting in May, Netflix will raise the price of its standard, two-stream plan to $10/month for subscribers who were previously "grandfathered" in to a lower rate.

According to Business Insider, UBS analysts claim the change will impact 37 percent of US grandfathered subscribers, which comes out to around 17 million people. These people are currently paying $8/month and got to keep that rate when the price went up to $9/month and then again to $10/month.

This change is expected to catch millions by surprise. A JPMorgan survey cited by Business Insider says 80 percent of the 17 million subscribers affected by the update are not aware of the forthcoming change.

The price hike will go into effect for the grandfathered subscribers on May 10. You can visit your Netflix account page on Netflix.com to see if you are impacted.

Fox confirmed a sequel to Deadpool will be made along with key people related to the first film coming back for the new film.

Quote:

Not that it's much of a surprise, but speaking today at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Fox confirmed that it is indeed making a sequel to 2016 R-rated smash hit Deadpool.

Co-chair Stacey Snider confirmed that star Ryan Reynolds and director Tim Miller will be back for the sequel, according to Deadline. It was already basically confirmed that Reynolds would return, but until now, it was unclear if Miller--who made his directorial debut with Deadpool--would also be back.

Rights for a live action Pokemon film is rumored to have been sold in a recent secret auction with Legendary studios as the winning bid.

Quote:

The rights to a live-action Pokémon film are the focus of a Hollywood bidding war, according to unnamed sources who spoke with The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the report, The Pokémon Company has been looking for someone to make a big-budget Hollywood production out of their humble game series. Sony Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Legendary Pictures are reportedly all interested in the rights, but Legendary, the same studio behind The Dark Knight and Jurassic World, has allegedly pulled ahead in the bidding process.

Theater chain AMC recently dropped a proposed idea to allow texting during films at some of their locations after receiving the huge negative backlash for the idea.

On paper, the idea was to get more young people to watch films at their theaters and would have been willing to drop their no phones/texting ban as a concession. Majority of people ended up hating the idea since it would lead to the possible of more interruptions during films.

Saddened by this year's Free Comic Book Day. The one I wanted is the one nobody seems to have left.

You'd think it would have been the Suicide Squad, or Civil War II, with the movies and all... but no, I was looking for Spectrum, the tie-in for Alan Tudyk's Con Man series.

I was just watching I,Robot with the girlfriend... and we both had the same question. I've seen this film before and remember specifically thinking this...

... was the chick originally going to be a robot too and they cut it out? Because her demeanor is robotic, she's cold, she's calculated, she doesn't blink in the film.
I feel like they cut this out of the film, or changed it near the end because we both immediately felt the same way.

My random thought of the day, ta ta.
