Absolute classic. Only reason it doesn’t get a 5 is because Castlevania 3 exists, and showed how much better it could be.

I gave it a because it was the first one, but i'm not sure it's even in the top 5 of Castlevania games. ( I'm sure it's not actually )

A classic, but the latter games are much better, specifically Symphony of the Night and the DS/GBA ones.
The 3D castlevanias are ass.

I don't factor in a zero when it comes to the score. It's just a measure as to how popular or common a game is amongst us.

Castlevania 2 was ahead of its time. It couldve been so much more of a better game if they waited until the SNES to create it.

-castlevania 2 on a technical level is stunning. its the 1st console open world adventure game ever.

-it has a revolutionary password system to track your inventory and progress in said open world game.

-it has what to this day is one of the best OSTs of all time.

99% of criticisms against Simon's Quest are all related to the fact its a terrible LOCALIZATION.

The game is outstanding. The team tha translated are not. there is a fan translation thats out there now that fixes it and the towns folk now provide usable directions. the moment you dont feel constantly lost this game isnt bad.

Castlevania 2 was the second video game I ever owned as a child. Will always have fond memories of it. Gonna have to abstain from voting on the original though as it is the only one I never played.

Gave it a 4 mostly because the real rating would have been more like a 3.5 if half a points were allowed and 3 being too low for a game of its quality.

The music and overall gameplay were great but never bothered to complete it because of some of the gameplay design choices made. Think the most I ever got was around halfway.

Castlevania 2 might be worse with it but was never that fond of the jumping system and the way hits knocked you back a bit too much in the early Castlevania games. Going from the smooth jumping system in Mario games to the one used in the NES Castlevania series was rough.
