Caught today's ep.... Matt dude crushed it.... got two Daily Doubles in a row, $10,000 in two questions.... poor girl in the middle kept getting things wrong and becoming increasingly exasperated....

Why do they call it a Daily Double if it happens more than once a day?

Y'all see Matt get both daily doubles on his first two questions in Double Jeopardy. Finished with his highest score $50,000 even after starting out -$1,000.

Apparently Merv Griffin, series creator, named it after a special attraction that happens/used to happen during a slate of horse races on a given day. To win a daily double bet, one must pick the winners of two consecutive races, hence the name.

He'll get got one of these days...champions who stick around on the show for too long start to make it more of a chore than fun to watch, IMO. I don't have a problem with most winners who aren't on longer than about 7 days. After that I just need to see a new champ crowned for a breath of fresh air.

I always DVR Jeop but don't always watch. I've binge marathoned the 10 day reign

damn my friend BOB's sister was on tonight, but she jobbed to Matt, even tho she finished $10,000+... Matt again got both daily doubles back to back in Double Jeopardy and won $17,000 on them...

He looked like he was close to not having the correct response for both DDs, too...if he'd missed one or both, I think there's a fair chance it wouldn't have been a runaway.

Also was surprised he didn't go for a $400K+ total tonight --- $390,411 so far.

I don't know who he is. I don't know what he wants. But what I do know is that I have a very particular lack of skills, and I will never locate him or take him down.

Probably like 2-4 months, I would guess...no way of knowing for sure. I do know a lot of game shows will tape a week's worth of episodes in 1 day sometimes.

Makes sense, you've got a summer break every year to film episodes for the new season...

Current champion Dean is really boring on the mic... decent technical ability, works slowly at first though

Tournament of Champions starting tonight

Alex just did a true daily double on $15,000 and got it..

Guy in the middle decimating his opponents, has $29,600 in day 1 of Finals, 2nd place has $3,400, 3rd has $3,000.

As we've all seen before, however, distant 2nd/3rd place contestants in the Final after day 1 are more than capable of making a day 2 comeback to win stunning victories. Tomorrow night's show promises to be exciting.
