How do you organize your music?

Do you organize your music as singles or albums? Which media library do you use?

Requiem 02-12-2009 02:12 AM

Music > Artist > Album

Dude is there any software for XP by which I can directly edit the ID tags from the folder location like Vista?

What if you like only one track from the whole album? Do you download and keep the whole album or just keep the tracks you like?

thedamndest 02-12-2009 02:29 AM

I download the whole album in hopes that one day I will grow to love it. If this proves to be impossible, only then will I delete it.

By artists.

Juan 02-12-2009 02:49 AM

I use iTunes, so everythings organized by song name, artist, album, genre, rating, play count and year

Juan 02-12-2009 02:49 AM

but when I listen I usually just go by genre and artist name

Bad Company 02-12-2009 03:23 AM

I use windows folders.
Genre, Artist, Album

Krimzon7 02-12-2009 07:10 AM

Artists, then Albums.
But I mainly listen to playlists.

<font color=goldenrod>For the sake of ease on my iPod, the only time I label a song with its album is if I have the full album. Otherwise I group the other songs into an "album" called 'Singles'.

So if I only have one album by a band, their folder on my iPod will consist of that album's folder and then the singles folder will have everything else by them (I move the songs out later if they are part of another album I end up collecting the full version of).</font>

MP3s -> # to A to Z -> Artist -> Album/Single

Fox 02-12-2009 10:51 AM

Pandora.

Music > Genre > Artist > Albums

All of you guys who were my soulseek friends black in the day know the score. Generally don't bother with the file names so long as the tags are good because once they go into iTunes and then the iPod they're sorted in a similar manner.

St. Jimmy 02-12-2009 03:25 PM

Discography
Album
Artist - Song

ron the dial 02-12-2009 03:47 PM

music>artist>albums

Xero 02-12-2009 04:21 PM

Program (Exaile) -> Album

Folder Structure -> Album -> Track

Except for singles, which get thrown into one folder/album.

Penner 02-12-2009 04:51 PM

any new album i download goes into a new folder

ive been way too lazy to organize everything else, so like half my collection is singles, and half is folders.

Itunes automatically orders them anyways so wahtever.

BigDaddyCool 02-12-2009 05:23 PM

Alphabetically by Musician/Band/Artist

BigDaddyCool 02-12-2009 05:27 PM

Then, by order the album came out. So like it would be Metallica's ...Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets (and so on) then The Misfit's, Motorhead and so on. Or at least that is how I store the cd's. But I only ever listen to my ipod, I haven't bought a CD for myself in years.
