Escobar almost boinked his head on the guard rail with that dive to the outside.

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 08:17 PM

 at a random forklift spot up during this 6-man tag match.

Opening match was pretty good but end of the match went a bit overboard with the shenanigans.

Triple A 09-01-2020 08:23 PM

I guess I'll watch...

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 08:32 PM

LeRae vs. Catanzaro was decent.

This post-match promo by LeRae on the other hand was not.

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 08:40 PM

 at Thathcer whiffing the European uppercut.

Don't think I've ever seen someone botch that move before.

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 08:43 PM

 at two matches so far on tonight's show has involved a distraction or run-in spot.

There have only been 3 matches so far.

Reed vs. Thatcher was pretty good up until that Theory run-in happened.

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 08:47 PM

Considering the main event is next, first hour of the show was mostly okay or fine. Nothing really worth watching if you missed the first half of the show.

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 09:01 PM

With the rumors of Ciampa being a member of Retribution, if the group interfered in this match and helped Ciampa win the belt, that would be a great way to salvage the group's current lame direction. Ciampa gets revealed as the leader of the group and NXT gets an extra spicy storyline to use for their shows.

Instead the group seems to be RAW exclusive and that's not what happens via the spoilers about this match.

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 09:06 PM

Bit surprised NXT didn't bother to put up a clock and/or scoreboard for this Iron Man match.

Maybe it would have been a bit too much clutter for the screen considering this isn't a typical 1v1 Iron Man match.

slik 09-01-2020 09:11 PM

NXT does not appear to be trending at all on Twitter, very odd for WWE

unless there is an algorithm issue it's not in the top 30 trends r/n

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 09:13 PM

Guess WWE wasn't able to convince USA Network to do only split screen breaks for the Iron Man match since it went to a regular commercial break.

Not surprised since it hasn't really felt that interesting so far and mostly been just plodding along.

Plus since its a WWE style Iron Man match, nothing to really care about until the last 10-15 minutes for tonight's show. Maybe the spoilers soured a lot of online interest in tonight's show as well.

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 09:21 PM

 at the commercial break OUUTA NOWHERE.

No offense to Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett since they've been good on commentary but this match really could have used Mauro's commentary enegry to get through this somewhat slow paced first half.

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 09:23 PM

Think NXT has been fudging the time since when they first flashed the time left, the show was going to end right at 10PM. Now it looks like its going to end about 2 minutes early.

slik 09-01-2020 09:31 PM

NXT is now trending at #8

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 09:31 PM

 at Balor saving Cole from getting beaten up by Ciampa on the outside only to beat him up instead.

Triple A 09-01-2020 09:33 PM

Vic Joseph sucks........ can't listen to him

Triple A 09-01-2020 09:39 PM

Barrett is good on commentary... Joseph and Beth Phoenix unbearable...

Most of the time I mix him up with Tom Phillips since they have a very similar commentary style. Almost similar voices as well with Joseph's voice being a bit deeper.

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 09:44 PM

So far commentary has been very hit-or-miss when it comes to saying when a commercial break is going to happen in this match.

Since this is a taped show, should be no excuse why its been happening.

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 09:55 PM

Last couple minutes of this match is probably going to be a rushed mess considering the spoilers and everyone being tied at 1 at the moment.

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 09:58 PM

Please don't tell me that this match ends via double pin since there is barely any time left.

Nevermind Balor prevented it from happening.

slik 09-01-2020 09:59 PM

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 10:03 PM

 the match really did end in a tie.

Holy shit that was dumb as hell.

Match itself was very good but that was pure WCW style shenanigans to end a show.

This week's episode was pretty good overall but one of NXT's weakest shows this year since the first hour was nothing special and you'd better off just catching the highlights to that extra long Iron Man match since it wasn't worth the time in the end.

Emperor Smeat 09-01-2020 10:13 PM

Apparently this week's show didn't need to be preempted after all since NBC changed the network for tomorrow's NHL Game 6 between Avs and Stars from USA Network to NBCSN instead.

No other NHL game is scheduled for the night.

slik 09-01-2020 10:19 PM

If something is 'sudden death' and the first pin wins and it's between two people...isn't that pretty much just a normal match?

Evil Vito 09-01-2020 10:35 PM

Lmao a bullshit non-finish.

NXT has jumped the shark.

Yeup.

Plus with both guys getting a week to rest, probably going to be a regular length match depending where on the card its placed. 10-15 minutes if it starts the show and 15-20+ if its the main event.

screech 09-01-2020 11:05 PM

I'm not a big fan of Iron Man matches in general, because you need the right participants to keep it interesting for an hour.

When those matches end in a tie? That's fucking terrible.

Problem with WWE's style of Iron Man matches is they've conditioned their audience for years to not care about the match until the last 5 minutes or so.

If they wanted a non-finish, the match should never been as long as it was since all it did was make the sour taste and anti-climatic feeling of the match even worse.

Next time WWE does an Iron Man match, people are going to be skeptical if its going to have a real ending after the stunt NXT pulled off.

That's modern wrestling. It's not just WWE.

LibSuperstar 09-02-2020 12:36 AM

Can't speak to other promotions but it would be much better if they had multiple falls early to middle of the match.

Other promotions don't seem to have that type of lingering problem WWE has when it comes to booking Iron Man matches or handling draws for very lengthy matches.

I saw it ending in a tie last week when it was announced.

I honestly figured a 4 way tie to emphasize how even the 4 are and then next week would decide it in another type of match.

Also I just had the thought that instead of just being av4 way iron man match they should have made it an iron man ladder match. Instead of a belt above the ring its a big token or something. Most Tokens after 60 minutes wins. And you have to bank the tokens in a box outside the ring, so until they're in the box someone can steal them.

Mr. Nerfect 09-02-2020 04:19 AM

I'm not a fan of Iron Man Matches in general. Just have a match go long. It doesn't need to be with an announced stipulation.

Evil Vito 09-02-2020 08:18 AM

Having an hour long match for a vacant title end in a tie doesn't make me want to tune in next week to see who actually wins the belt, it makes me pissed off that I wasted my time in the first place.

Evil Vito 09-02-2020 08:24 AM

Why not just do a mini tournament and have Ciampa vs. Cole and Gargano vs. Balor (or flip them) matches to set up the Cole/Balor match they clearly wanted to do anyway? Those matches could've gotten a good 25 minutes each and been great and it would've having to piss off large portions of the audience with a non-finish.

DaveWadding 09-03-2020 01:17 AM

I'm watching from the beginning.

Fantasma in that suit jacket and shades is a vibe. Like that way better than the tie.
