Has it been approved by the league?

Wake Up Call 10-28-2013 04:57 PM

Sure hope a contract extension is coming for Vanek or he can walk away from the Islanders
next year.

El Fangel 10-28-2013 07:30 PM

Tanking.

Arashi Kage 10-28-2013 08:44 PM

I was reading that Vanek has his eye on Minnesota, and that he may have already been there is the Wild had been able to buy-out Heatley during the summer.

Will be interesting to see if Vanek's heart leads him to Minnesota after this season, or if the Islanders can dangle enough cash in front of him, combined with how things turn out playing with Tavares - in order to convince him to stay.

Bad News Gertner 10-28-2013 09:07 PM

I've heard about Vanek to Minny for a while now. Not sure if the Wild would want to take on another contract like that long term.

YOUR Hero 10-29-2013 10:37 AM

Islanders are rolling the dice. Hope they can get Vanek to stay. Would love to see the Isles become something again

weather vane 10-29-2013 07:00 PM

Isles had a great season last year. Almost taking out the Pens was exciting stuff. They have a good core of young guys that all hang out together and want to win. They have a bright future I think.

Bad News Gertner 10-29-2013 07:02 PM

They've got some fantastic young defencemen in the pipeline.

RP 10-30-2013 05:15 PM

Toews was amazing last night.

Corndad 10-30-2013 10:12 PM

Man this Pens/Bruins game has a playoff feel to it. It's freaking October.

Damn.

Skippord 10-30-2013 10:32 PM

well this is good news, was wondering when the Avs season would go off the rails.

now I can focus on my My Little Pony erotic fan fiction, and the Nuggets I guess

Skippord 10-30-2013 10:33 PM

and my boy Sami Aitokalio will get a promosh

Skippord 10-30-2013 10:42 PM

I had no confidence that I spelled his name right and I was right about that.

Aitokallio was the right answer

Bad News Gertner 10-31-2013 03:49 AM

Knowing Roy's history, Varlamov will probably get the next 20 starts.

Skippord 10-31-2013 01:43 PM

Avs traded Steve Downie and my heart is broken

Skippord 10-31-2013 01:52 PM

for Max Talbot for some reason

killing self

Adder 10-31-2013 01:53 PM

Downie was traded?

Av's probably will "win" this trade in the long run. No need to be emo over it.

Adder 10-31-2013 04:49 PM

How many times does this make him a Flyer, 3?

Corndad 11-02-2013 01:23 AM

I think this is understood by this point but the Flyers are pretty much a joke.

Bad News Gertner 11-02-2013 09:21 AM

Lol holy fuck did Ray emery even beat the shit out of Holtby last night

Evil Vito 11-02-2013 11:17 AM

Crazy game last night, glad to win. Nabakov scares the living shit out of me though. They need a better goalie but there aren't exactly many other options.

Evil Vito 11-02-2013 11:20 AM

And yeah as mentioned, I have my doubts on Vanek staying with the Isles unless they put together an even better run than last year. They were going to lose Moulson to free agency anyway so that evens out - but losing a 1st and 2nd for a rental is a huge risk if they don't play deep into the playoffs.

Some have made the argument that the Isles have enough talented young players waiting in the wings to make losing the picks be a non-issue, but you can never have enough depth.

Skippord 11-02-2013 09:05 PM

Watching Adam Foote's jersey retirement

fucking guy's tough as nails, WHAT A BEAUTY!

plus if they can't resign him, they could trade him at the deadline for a 1st and 2nd round pick

RP 11-04-2013 02:49 PM

Calgary Flames are a decent team.

Indeed. They are doing much better than expected. Now, the Oilers on the other hand.... :'(

Bad News Gertner 11-05-2013 12:41 AM

Saw this Oilers mess coming 3 years ago. It's what happens when you spend every lottery pick on a forward and neglect your d and goaltending.

YOUR Hero 11-05-2013 10:11 AM

In fairness, Dubnyk was supposed to be better than this.

Emperor Smeat 11-05-2013 02:31 PM

How well or bad has Taylor Hall developed the past few years for the Oilers?

Only remember how him and Seguin were hyped as both potential cornerstones for their teams and big stars for the league itself.

So was Petry, Gagner, Omark, Yakupov, Paajarvi, etc,

For a while there, it looked like Seguin > Hall, but I think that Hall is turning out to be the higher producer and all around better player.

I think that before the season is over, we'll see Yakupov + draft pick traded for a goalie. You have to think that MacT has his eye on Optimus Reim.

El Fangel 11-05-2013 11:16 PM

Calling it now, Jonas Gustavsson.

Ryan Miller. Won't cost them Yakupov. They need to address that defence too. God it's awful.

Petry is pretty solid.

He's in his 5th season. After his 3rd full season he still hadn't shown #1 goaltender status. I realize their defence has been bad, but Dubnyk wasn't exactly Terry Sawchuk either. Also, getting a reliable back up to challenge Dubnyk would have helped and not one whose legs fall off if he makes consecutive starts (Khabibulin)

YOUR Hero 11-06-2013 10:07 AM

Yeah I don't know why they didn't sign Theodore (still available I think) or someone of that stature to be backup/mentor for Dubnyk.
Also Yakopov will be good, so will(is) Gagner. Their problem is goal and defence.
Terrible

Bad News Gertner 11-07-2013 12:52 AM

Yeah, Theodore is actually in the KHL right now. Yakupov and Gagner will be good. Think they are expecting too much out of Gagner to be honest.
