Still waiting for more news on the remake of Stephen King's It.

Kalyx triaD 02-14-2014 11:28 PM

Yeah what happened to that.

Fignuts 02-16-2014 01:52 AM

Hasn't been cancelled as far as I know.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-19-2014 12:22 AM

Damn Conan should have insisted on the Tonight Show being in New York. Debut Tonight Show was pretty fucking great.

Lock Jaw 02-22-2014 03:27 AM

LeBron James has been signed on for a SPACE JAM sequel.

No way it can recapture the magic of the original.

Bobholly138 02-22-2014 05:56 AM

There was magic in the original Space Jam? It might be cause I was an adult when it came out. But I found it to be horrible and an insult to the classic Looney Tunes franchise.

Bobholly138 02-22-2014 05:57 AM

Sucks it is 6 months before the next and final season of Boardwalk Empire starts. Once it and Sons of Anarchy end I will be down to watching 2 shows.

Blonde Moment 02-22-2014 05:58 AM

Just about everything in the last 30 years has been an insult to the franchise

The Looney Tunes Back in Action film was decent. Stayed somewhat true to the spirit of the original shorts.

Kalyx triaD 02-22-2014 02:22 PM

The current Looney Tunes Show sitcom is fucking awesome.

Lock Jaw 02-22-2014 02:28 PM

Looney Tunes Back in Action sucked. Space Jam was where it is at.

How long before Vince tries to talk to Batista about how he is in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie with Vin Diesel and would like Dave to talk to Vin about being a guest host for Raw?

Kalyx triaD 02-23-2014 12:04 AM

Vin seems like a cool host.

The point was more that Batista and Diesel probably never saw each other unless they were scheduled to rerecord dialogue at a similar time. And that McMahon is so out of touch that he wouldn't recognize that.

Kalyx triaD 02-23-2014 01:14 PM

That's a complicated point!

After earning $200 million worldwide in two weeks (and with a third number-one weekend in its sights), another LEGO MOVIE is inevitable (despite the conclusion of the first film's narrative), and Warner Bros. has penciled in the film's release date. The next official LEGO MOVIE will be released on…May 26th, 2017.

IDW has announced that co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird will produce a special 30th Anniversary issue for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this May.

The issue will mark the first time in over 20 years that Eastman and Laird, who co-created the Turtles in 1984, have worked together on the TMNT property. Eastman has been working on IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic since 2011 (see “Kevin Eastman to Write New 'Turtles' Comic”), but this is the first time co-creator Laird has returned.

The 48-page, full-color 30th Anniversary Special will include short stories from different creators who have worked on the property. Each story will be inspired by different eras of the TMNT history, and will all feature a unique look, feel and voice. Dean Clarrain, Chris Allan, Gary Carlson, Frank Fosco, Jim Lawson, Tom Waltz and Dan Duncan will all contribute.

The current animated incarnation of the Heroes in a Half-Shell airs on Nickelodeon (see “New 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle' Toon Debut Set”) and the new CGI/live-action hybrid movie from Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Films’ debuts in August (see “Live-Action 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Delayed Again”). IDW will also be releasing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles New Animated Adventures Micro Comics in April (see “'TMNT Micro Comic Fun Packs'”).

Ghostbusters III's script is currently getting tweaked a bit due to the recent passing of Harold Ramis.

Quote:

The sequel's director, Ivan Reitman, is scheduled to meet with Sony production brass in the coming days to assess how to move forward on the project, which is in active development, according to sources. Ramis, Murray and Dan Aykroyd, who starred together in the 1984 original and its 1989 sequel, were poised to appear briefly in the third outing to set up a baton-passing to a trio of newcomers.

Three geek movies, Ant-Man, Sandman, and Minecraft, advanced on Thursday.

Patrick Wilson (Watchmen) is in negotiations for the last major role in Ant-Man, according to Variety. His role has not been disclosed. Ant-Man is now set to be released July 17, 2015, with Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas starring (see "Disney Moves 'Ant-Man' into Vacated 'Batman vs. Superman' Spot").

The Sandman movie being developed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and David Goyer (see "'Sandman’ Movie") now has a writer, Jack Thorne, who’s done mostly TV work, according to Deadline. Thorne will work from the treatment by Goyer, who’s written a bunch of comic-based movies including Man of Steel and the Batman and Blade trilogies.

Anybody that’s been going to comic conventions for the last few years has seen more than a few attendees dressed as the pixel heads from Minecraft (see, for example, "Wizard World’s Chicago Comic Con Photos--Part 1"). Now that geek passion is going to be harnessed by a feature film; Warner Bros. has acquired the movie rights, according to Hollywood Reporter. The videogame has sold over 35 million copies for consoles and 14 million copies for PCs since its 2009 launch.

Bobholly138 02-28-2014 09:39 AM

First off the Sandman movie is coming almost 20 years too late. And it will just be a bunch of gothic wankery.

That's pretty much the whole movie without all the extra stuff that moves the story along.

Is 2D animation dead? Can't even remember the last 2D animation movie.... everything all CGI now. Need to go back in time....

Talking about movies in theaters for kids and stuff... all CG.... seems hellish.....

Kalyx triaD 03-06-2014 04:09 AM

3D cartoons are faster to produce and makes money so far, but 2D's alive and well on TV.

I suggest you track down a theater with The Wind Rises playing.

I don't know if this should go in some comic thread that I haven't noticed, but as this is the 100,002 Replies thread, I'll ask here.

I'm really not a big comic book guy, so I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to the majority of comic related stuff, but there's a six issue miniseries that I've been wanting for some time (since 2009 to be exact) but I could never find them for sale over here.

Now, they seem to be available on Amazon but issues 2-6 are sold out and I don't know if they'll ever be in stock again, but I doubt they will be. I have however came across a website that's based here in the UK that's selling all six issues as a graphic novel.

My question is, what's better when it comes to comics? Having each issue as a separate comic, or having them all as one big graphic novel? Or does it make no difference at all?

The Destroyer 03-09-2014 03:29 PM

I prefer having them in collected form when it comes to paper stuff.

No ads, for starters. It's personal taste more than anything else really.

Lock Jaw 03-09-2014 03:48 PM

I prefer collections just because they take less space and are easy to put on a bookshelf.

However, I miss getting monthly comics so bad. I feel like the only advantage to them, though, is that you can "open them up wider", which is sometimes helpful for double page spreads. Double page spreads definitely work a lot better in single issues than trades.
