Meant to bridge the gap between Splinter Cell: Convinction and the recent Splinter Cell: Blacklist, a comic book series covering the exploits of Sam Fisher is coming soon.

The series, subtitled Echoes, is being written by Nathan Edmondson who has a history with Marvel's Black Widow and The Punisher series with art by Marc Laming. Speaking about the series, Edmondson says the story will be standalone, accessible to those who haven't played the Splinter Cell games. The series will be published by Dynamite Entertainment and is launching this summer.

They stole his elephant again.

I'm 40 mins in and so far it's pretty crappy. I feel like they are trying to have that Jackie Chan action adventure feel without the comedy and the realness. Plus they are making it look Hollywoodesque with all the special effects and camera shots but it's done badly. The fighting is not even good and I'm tired of Rza showing up in these flicks.

Fignuts 04-24-2014 03:39 AM

Yeah, heard it sucks from a lot of people. People who love Jaa's previous stuff.

Blonde Moment 04-24-2014 04:25 AM

It was a big let down.
Looking forward to the Raid 2

Microsoft showed off its plans for the Xbox Originals programming to Destructoid and one of the major takeaways from the meeting we had was that the company is currently looking at creating live-action content based on Halo, State of Decay, Gears of War, Forza, Fable, and Age of Empires.

Dark-Slicer Diago 04-29-2014 08:18 AM

These would've been released in the same set but couldn't do to the amount of editing so it's been released twice.

Assassin's Creed is getting a movie. I almost forgot about it, because I was hoping it wouldn't actually happen. But it is, and now the film it has a director attached to it: Justin Kurzel (MacBeth). In addition, David-8 hottie and Magneto the Magnificent, also known as Michael Fassbender, is attached to the film playing the lead and acting as producer. That's good news, even if Michael Fassbender isn't a gamer. As long as it's a decent adaptation, it doesn't matter who's involved, does it?

Fassbender went in-depth with Screen Rant regarding his involvement with the project: "We’re just developing the script at the moment. I’d heard of it but had never played the game. I don’t have a video game player […] that’s not what they’re called. I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they told me the story behind it, and I thought it was very interesting -- the idea of reliving memories.”

The Hollywood Reporter had details on Ronin and Letter 44. Frank Miller’s 1983-84 DC Comic limited series Ronin will be developed as a miniseries, and Soule’s Oni Press sci-fi/political thriller Letter 44 is planned as an ongoing drama.

The six-issue Ronin, with artwork painted by Lynn Varley, takes place in a dystopian future New York, where a Feudal Japanese samurai who failed to save his master from a demon is reincarnated. The demon Agat has also returned, and now the ronin hunts him, as they vie for control of the demon’s magical sword.

Syfy is currently searching for a writer for the mini-series, and the number of episodes has not been determined. Despite Miller’s many film adaptations, this may be the first adaptation to make it to TV, since there has been little news on the planned Sin City TV program (see “'Sin City' TV Show”).

Charles Soule and Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque’s Letter 44 refers to the letter each exiting U.S. President leaves to his successor, and the shocking news President Stephen Blades finds. Apparently, the financial turmoil and needless wars his predecessor created are meant to prepare humanity for a possible alien invasion detected by the NASA crew of The Clarke.

The pilot will be written and directed by Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3, U-571). The show will be produced by Oni Press’s sister company, Closed on Mondays. James Lucas Jones, and Joe Nozemack are set to produce. René Echevarria, showrunner for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Castle, and The 4400, will executive produce with Mostow, and Closed on Monday’s Eric Gitter.

Hickman’s 2007 Image release Pax Romana will be developed as a miniseries, according to Deadline. The story follows a Special Forces team that time travels back to Ancient Rome to fix the past and prevent World War III. The story will be scripted by Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia (Warehouse 13). Circle of Confusion’s David Alpert (The Walking Dead) will executive produce with Federman and Scaia. Hickman will co-executive produce.

Development of Schulner’s comic Clone was announced by Skybound and Universal at Comic-Con last year (see “NBC/Universal Developing Skybound's 'Clone'”), but now The Wrap is reporting SyFy has announced development. Schulner is writing and executive producing, with Robert Kirkman also executive producing. David Alpert from Circle of Confusion will also executive produce.

Last month Syfy announced a rebranding to “return to its sci-fi/fantasy roots,” after efforts to court a broader audience with wrestling and low budget movies with B-grade talent failed (Sharknado aside). To get the ball rolling quickly, it appears Syfy will be tapping the comics market for ready-made plots. They already announced plans to air Metal Hurlant Chronicles (see “Syfy Picks Up 'Metal Hurlant Chronicles'”) and development of DMZ (see “'Mad Men' Producers to Adapt 'DMZ'”).

Lionsgate, the movie studio behind Hunger Games, The Expendables, and many other films, is making a move into gaming. This move will be headed by their new President of Interactive Ventures, Peter Levin, the co-founder and former CEO of Nerdist Industries. He also has served as an advisor at Japanese media company Yoshimoto Kogyo, MAG Interactive, comiXology, and Rovio Entertainment.

Hey Syfy, bring back SGU.

I really dislike not being near a decent book store. My wife just read Divergent after seeing the movie. She enjoyed it. Not normally a fan of young adult fiction, but she said it did clear up a few things in the movie. Anyways, I was at walmart today because I live in a shit hole community that doesn't even have a walmart (had to go 25 mins away for a freaking walmart). They had the first and third book...

I would never condone such things, but calibre lets you convert said pirated books if needed.

What do you guys think about having a "spin-off" forum that contains Books/Comic Books/Animated Content? And then it will look like:
  • Movies & Television (Live content)
  • Animation/Books/Comic Books (Animated content such as Anime, Cartoons, DC/Marvel animated movies, books etc)

I'm not feeling Books being in the M&T forum as well as Comic Books and Anime and I feel like they get lost in there.

Kalyx triaD 05-06-2014 02:18 PM

Nah we're good.

Lock Jaw 05-06-2014 02:43 PM

I say do a trial period and see how it goes. I don't know if we discuss those things enough to warrant their own forum.... but maybe we would discuss it more if it had its own forum.

Kalyx triaD 05-06-2014 03:38 PM

I had an idea for a creative writing (anything really) forum for people who write, play, sing, whatever. There wasn't so much as a trial sub-forum before people shot it down. And we have some talents in here. It would be strange for a Book forum to spring up if that didn't get even a trial run.

So they are uploading an episode one after the other in that one day?

The whole thing. Mortal Kombat did that as well.
