I think after this epsiode a lot of "the boys" will be shitting bricks if their past shenanigans get brought up in one of these episodes.

Brutus Beefcake made a statement in a shoot interview that Shawn and Marty "h=bombed" then raped women in hotels.

Lol oh God, the only Timeline I couldn't finish. Beefcake told so many yarns, but I can definitely believe that one

Shawn Michaels has to be shitting himself.
Sid will be shitting himself for season 4. That stabbing is an all-time incident. People will talk... |
I love that people blame Sid because Arn is a better in ring worker

All this stuff is just zapping my enthusiasm for wrestling. Not so much as what they did. More that this is going to be a gigantic topic that's not going away which will and already is turning into a witch hunt

You know... because somehow Lesnar's behavior might somehow have "an explanation for why", even if it's "not an excuse", because he was "he was basically an impressionable kid in a ridiculous culture". Damn. If only Lesnar had been gifted with both the necessary character AND the ability to actually physically stop the bullshit he was witnessing. Too bad as an actual adult in a difficult situation he only had the physical skills and not the character and balls to do the right thing, never mind not actually allegedly participating in it. Fuck off with that bullshit, Nerfect, you pathetic, moron, POS, hypocrite. |
Just watched... Man... What a watch.
The airhostess was so genuine in her approach, struck me during her Hall section she said she was afraid then backtracked for fear it was too strong of a word. Im 6 Foot tall, 115 KG and if a guy the size of Hall grabbed me on a flight full of his mates and threatened me mid Atlantic I would be shitting myself! As well as the obvious things said about people RVD saying he saw Flair accosting (for lack of a stronger term?) the Airhostess and doing nothing is extremely disappointing to say the least. The Airhostesses being present while Flairs carrying on his "act" mid aisle is bad but I can see how you might in that toxic culture let it go but watching him corner her and proposition her naked is well and truly across the line. Jim Ross seems genuinely upset and remorseful that he was in charge of that culture while also sounding somewhat powerless to fix it. How do you fix a culture like that when the "made guys" get a pass... |
Dreamer's apology comes off like that of a corporate entity.

This is why the show will be dropped / canceled. They will start to run with stories that "get too close" and "fuck you" money will win. |
Like digging an old clip from a Brutus Beefcake interview lol. Brutus also said in that interview that he was white hot as a heel before the barber gimmick and the barber gimmick ruined him.

I wasn’t defending Brock, you muppet. I was answering #fan’s actual question and explaining why people are more mad at a 50-whatever man talking shit in 2021 than a 24 year old kid in his first month or so in a new job then. You are a perfect example of what Gertner was talking about re: Arn/Sid. If it were an AEW wrestler who did any of those things, you actually wouldn’t condemn it at all. You hate Vince/WWE so much, because you’re still a mark who falls for the babyface/heel paradigm, you actually latch onto gross shit like this to defend your insecure fandom and target people you want to see fail. Don’t you ever call ANYONE else a hypocrite. You’re a fake lawyer, a fake person, a bad take and riddled with bad taste. Every time to try and mouth off to me, I absolutely destroy you. Even people in the AEW thread admit you’re an embarrassment to the fandom. Stop trying to hang with the big boys. You are just not fucking smart enough. Quote:

I think people just preferred Arn as a person too. The version I’ve heard the most is Sid turns up at Arn’s door with a chair arm or leg and when he gets there he throws it away but Arn comes out and stabs him with some scissors. Sid gets hold of the scissors and just pokes Arn full of holes until he nearly kills him. |
Interesting that they mentioned that Vince and Linda were on board the plane. Multiple people referenced them being there in the episode if I'm not mistaken. But the reality was they weren't even on that flight. Makes me wonder what else was embellished for the sake of the show tbh.
|
I imagine they were probably merging multiple plane ride stories all into the plane ride from hell. Seems like they are getting things mixed up with the flight that Vince and Kurt Angle were fighting on and when Michael Hayes was so shit faced he tried to pee on Linda or whatever.
|
Hmm. A famous rich, white dude gets accused of sexual harassment. I wonder if his fans will try to discredit the victim

She might’ve done some bad things, therefore Flair waving his dick at her and possibly forcing to touch it while cornering her is ok

Based on this new evidence, Tommy Dreamer’s TPWW Thursday Night Watch-along suspension has been lifted.
|
Tommy Dreamer was an innocent victim of cancel culture and his glory will be restored on TPWW THURSDAY NIGHT MULKEYMANIA!
|
Can we just cancel Tommy Dreamer anyway?
|
So it is true that Ric didn't make her touch his penis and that Scott Hall didn't lick her or grab for her boobs. And it is true that Tommy Dreamer fights for the rights of everyman. This woman is a NEWS REPORTED BURGLAR, she DOES NOT TELL THE TRUTH.
|
She is banned from all future TPWW Thursday Night Watch-alongs.
|
|
Goddamn now I am torn, did Flair do it because he was accused of assault and damage to a car? Or did the flight attendant LIE because she was accused of BUGLARY, a heinous crime worse than some assaults?
And how does Tommy Dreamer begin to build a life in a post canceled society if indeed Ric Flair did not do it because the flight attendant has a serious criminal history? Will Dreamer be able to return to his employers or with the IMPACT of his words have left a bruise too deep? Will Shawn Michaels be remembered as the HEART BREAK RAPIST? Or will the stories amount to nothing because he is a "made man"? |

Flair is in hot water again. This time it has to do with Kanyon
|
Good episode on Kanyon, last 10 minutes pretty emotional stuff

Great episode that brings back a lot of memories with both Mortis, who I thought looked great when I was a kid, and the DDP gimmick he ran hitting Diamond Cutters on randoms throughout the building.
James Mitchell made it tough trying to get through. Especially at the end where they all admit to knowing he was probably going soon. Really sad. |
I feel like James Mitchell was leaving out a likely important element of the story. Drugs. No way those two guys were hanging out in a house for days and days on end and "not sleeping for 3 or 4 nights in a row" without doing meth or something. I think that my favorite part of this one was hearing from Cage and The Bucks but otherwise I didn't enjoy this particular story. Also I feel like they referenced "gay wrestlers" and then showed a bunch of characters that were "gay" but the performers weren't, like Goldust and Adonis. I don't know about Adonis but I assumed he was straight. Anyway, just not a great story to be honest. Felt like with Mitchell controlling the narrative mostly that it comes off like his version of the Kanyon story.
|
Gonna watch this weekend. Does this just turn into a WWE bash fest? Looking at the talking heads on this show, I can see that happening.
|
I didn't think that it came off like a WWE bash fest. Really just depicted a very conflicted man with a lot of mental health issues.
|
it really didn't come off as a wwe bash fest at all. they kinda glossed over whatever taker stuff people were thinking was gonna drop.
|
As much as I love a good WWE takedown, I didn’t think there would be much of one here. From Kanyon’s Stern interview, his claim of homophobia leading to his firing seemed based on nothing in particular. If there was some specific bad shit to be told I think he would have been all over it in the interview.
|
Not related to Dark Side but Kanyon related so I’ll throw it here: I remember during his “Positively Kanyon” run mocking DDP they showed Kanyon doing a book signing and the announcers were baffled at the enormous line to get his autograph. Only for the cameras to pan around and show a sign that the autograph promised a free drink voucher. That was great.
|
|
....people are trying to cancel Cena for when he said Kanyon wasnt that good at wresting.
|
AEW fans are such tards
|
This is one of those times where I wanna go on Twitter and see people’s logic behind something but I know I’ll just come away annoyed and it won’t be worth it.

it's never worth it

I didn't realize Cage or the Bucks were good friends of Kanyon's, so it was interesting to hear their stories. Just like 75% of the guys from his era, Kanyon had those "demons" to fight with. The James Mitchell stories depicted him as a crazed lunatic and like someone already mentioned, I'm sure drugs were a huge part of his mind and mood.
I don't think the WWE buried him because he was gay and I'm sure his downfall in WWE was due to other factors behind the scenes that got a lot of guys released in those days. Cena and especially Flair (what a tool this guy continues to be on the show lol) were kind of dickheads to him. I kind of get Cena defending his company, but Flair is just an ass kissing dickhead at that point. He probably called in and was told to be harsh because needed the money |
Kanyon was a big fish in a smaller pond in WCW during the height of his run. They were desperate for anything to work.. There were so many A list too stars during Kanyon's WWE time that he got swallowed up. Plus he like alot of those guys that moved over from WCW had that "WCW stink" to them in WWE's eyes. Look at how they treated all of those guys.
And I LOVED Kanyon going back to his Men at Work team with Mark Starr |
Who betta than Kanyon?
mortis |
Did they mentioned Kanyon using the Mortis gimmick at WWE House Shows and it possibly coming back?
|
not that i recall
|
That was a mediocre episode of I’m being honest. The story was pretty well told but they really scraped the barrel for talking heads. The AEW people don’t add anything at all. Sinister Minister provided virtually all of the important information so DDP and Jericho were essentially just there to say “I knew him but I didn’t know much about him.”
I like how Sinister Minister’s whole thing is “Remember in the 90’s when not outing a gay guy meant you had to endure regular punishment throttlings?” Sinister Minister went up in my estimations though, for pulling a gun on the gay and not saying “Do you feel lucky, punk?!” because I feel that would be a hateful cheap shot well beneath a man of the cloth. |

As someone who didn't know much about Kanyon, this was a very informative episode.
|
It made me like Kanyon a lot less.
|
Why
|
He had one of his oldest and best friends in fear for his life just because he knew he was gay.
It’s a shame he felt like being gay was such a terrible sin but let’s be honest, that was his problem. You don’t try and kill your friends. |
That’s not why. He was diagnosed with being bipolar. My dads sister was bipolar. Same issues where she’d randomly snap and go on a tear to the person closest by. She destroyed countless relationships with friends and family before getting diagnosed and treated and by that point it was too late for her.
Maybe you missed that part of the ep but that was his issue. |
It’s actually all conjecture mate.
I just prefer my conjecture. |
Plus I’m not giving lunatics a free pass. He was healthy enough mentally to apologise so why not see a doctor ffs.
Idiot. |
Because mental health 20-30 years ago wasn’t viewed, understood and accepted the way it is now? My aunt wasn’t diagnosed until a decade ago after she’d destroyed every bridge she ever built. Not to mention the stigma that used to come with mental health for people in Kanyon’s generation.
|
I can’t be the only one who jerked off furiously during this episode…anyone?
|

Pretty sure depression had a lot of viable treatment options even in the late 90’s. |
Kudos on pulling out the mad auntie though.
I’d probably just turn my back on a wrong ‘un because it’s easy and appropriate. I wouldn’t turn them into a druggo too. |
It wasn’t his auntie, he clearly states it was his dad’s sister.

#ClassicWrestling watch along?
|
Would love to watch those...
|
I've seen all but #4. They are pretty crazy. I remember ordering FMW and Big Japan comp videos off tape list in the late 90s
|
Hayabusa looked so fucked just before he died...
Honestly the most depressing image search ever. |
Did Ken beat him?
|
sabu and mike vs the yakusa, that is a good ep.
|
FMW episode was pretty good. Still haven't seen the Kanyon one.
|
The Kanyon episode won’t blow your mind.
|
FMW episode was a lot better than I thought it would be.
Onita is a cartoonishly nefarious Jap... Terry Funk is just a sweet little old man now... damn |
Liked the bit where The Sheik nearly died. Very funny stuff.
Idiots the lot of them. |
Johnny K-9 episode this week. Had no idea who he was and I just read his Wikipedia entry. Holy shit I am all in on this episode.
|
Apparently he was an insanely nice guy despite... Well, you’ll see.
|
He wrestled in my city quite a bit for Border City Wrestling. I have a couple friends who worked and hung out with him. Everytime I've asked about him their immediate response is "dude, you wouldn't believe it of I told you". I know AL Snow has some stories and I hope he's on.
This episode is going to be incredible. |

I have been waiting for this since he was profiled in a Crime In Sports podcast long before they decided to profile him on DSOTR. They got two or three hours out of him and it was just wild. This will easily be one of the better episodes if they have lined up any of his old biker gang.
I’m excited for it. |
Wild episode. Was not familiar with K9 at all before this.
|
Me neither. Had no idea who was. What a life. Honest to god shocked to find out he only died recently. Given how the story was going i was surprised he made it to 2000. This was one of the better eps this season.
|
good thing he did not last at smoky mt wrestling he might have joined the piecemakers
