The championship fight will represent a monumental moment for the purple brand, as it is the first time that the NXT Cruiserweight Title will be on the line at an NXT TakeOver.

Scott doesn’t think Escobar can beat him in a fair fight, and if recent bouts between the two Superstars are any indication, he may have point.

In fact, “Swerve” is the only competitor to defeat Escobar since the brazen titleholder arrived in WWE. He has twice accomplished the feat, taking down Escobar in the NXT Cruiserweight Championship Tournament earlier this year (Escobar was wearing a mask and competing as El Hijo del Fantasma at the time) and also teaming with Breezango for a wild Six-Man Street Fight against Legado del Fantasma and once again pinning the champion. Despite losing to Scott during the round robin portion of the eight-Superstar tournament, however, Escobar rallied to emerge as the overall winner and new NXT Cruiserweight Champion.

The NXT Cruiserweight Champion and his NXT TakeOver 31 opponent share tense words. Catch WWE action on WWE Network, FOX, USA Network, Sony India and more.

As a result of twice beating Escobar and picking up several other impressive victories on 205 Live and NXT, Scott was awarded a title fight against the leader of Legado del Fantasma on the Aug. 26 edition of NXT, though Escobar had a trick up his sleeve. After retreating to ringside, Escobar donned a mask that appeared to contain a heavy object and headbutted Scott to retain his title.

Given the disappointing and controversial outcome, Scott pressed forward in his quest to dethrone Escobar, and on Sunday at NXT TakeOver 31, the acrobatic Superstar will have the opportunity to finally accomplish his goal when he once again challenges “The Leader of Leaders.”

Don’t miss a special preview tonight on 205 Live, streaming at 10/9 C on the award-winning WWE Network, and tune in to WWE Network on Sunday at 7 ET/4 PT to catch NXT TakeOver 31 for what is sure to be a thrilling NXT Cruiserweight Championship Match!

That "Show Up & Win" shirt Reigns is wearing is pretty cool.

His shirts since coming back have been a great touch for his new heel persona.

drave 10-02-2020 08:15 PM

The Tribal Chief thing is fucking dumb

Emperor Smeat 10-02-2020 08:17 PM

 at Reigns just randomly giving a title shot and a Hell in a Cell match on the spot.

That might have been the most random announcement of a Hell in a Cell match in WWE history.

Emperor Smeat 10-02-2020 08:20 PM

 at WWE botching the cut to commercial.

Don't think they were meant to do it that abruptly and while Jey was about to leap off the table. Like WCW Era "we out of time" style.

Emperor Smeat 10-02-2020 08:37 PM

Styles vs. Jey Uso was pretty good.

So far this first hour is on track to the best since maybe the time WWE had that Saudi plane incident and needed NXT to bail them out for a SD show.

Emperor Smeat 10-02-2020 08:47 PM

:| at next week's show having a court segment for Otis MitB contract.

Emperor Smeat 10-02-2020 08:50 PM

Morrison getting the squash treatment from Otis is pretty sad.

Hope he's enjoying whatever WWE is paying him since his current run has been mostly a big disappointment.

Emperor Smeat 10-02-2020 09:08 PM

Whelp if Kevin Owens gets drafted to SD, he already has his first feud set with the Fiend.

And vice versa if Fiend ends up going to the red brand instead. Then again that probably would be better considering he'd fit in very well with his spooky red lights routine.

Droford 10-02-2020 09:22 PM

Riddle looks stupid

Emperor Smeat 10-02-2020 09:24 PM

6-man tag match was pretty good despite WWE going overboard with the fake crowd noise during it.

Emperor Smeat 10-02-2020 10:03 PM

IC title match was pretty good.

This week's episode was pretty good overall. The show did sort of peak after the first 40-45 minutes in terms of entertainment though.

I give Carmella's new Emmalina-like gimmick a month or two tops before WWE gets bored of it or it hits unsavable dud territory.

Evil Vito 10-08-2020 02:21 PM

Emperor Smeat 10-08-2020 04:01 PM

Hopefully they learned from last year to shuffle the order of the pick announcements before Smackdown airs since last year the list they sent for the first night was in exact order of the picks.

XL 10-08-2020 04:54 PM

Sheamus on the board to get drafted twice.

Evil Vito 10-09-2020 08:11 AM

Gonna laugh when the first "round" of draft picks is Drew/Asuka/Seth to Raw and Roman/Bayley to SD.

EARTH SHATTERING LANDSCAPE CHANGE!

Emperor Smeat 10-09-2020 02:06 PM

Potential spoilers for tonight's Draft show in regards to certain big stars moving brands.

SPOILER: show

Droford 10-10-2020 12:46 AM

Big shock was New Day getting broken up

I figure that will last until they decide to not push Big E and then they will be reunited

My best guess is Raw will keep the Street Profits and have SP vs New Day to unify the tag belts and send them on both brands.
Which could also negate splitting up New Day if they win and can be on SD every week anyway

Of course they moved Bianca Belair to SD so they could move SP to SD.

Itll be funny the RAW tag team champions on SD and vice versa

They’ll do an awkward segment on Raw when the Profits get drafted where they swap belts with New Day.

It has been an interesting few weeks for The Brian Kendrick, who has picked up two recent wins against Ashante “Thee” Adonis but also appeared to take the brash rookie under his wing, imparting his veteran wisdom on his frequent opponent several times.

Adonis appeared to heed the former Cruiserweight Champion’s advice in their third and most recent meeting, limiting his trash talk and showboating en route to a victory against The Man With a Plan.

Isaiah “Swerve” Scott has had an adventurous couple of weeks himself, coming within an eyelash of winning the NXT Cruiserweight Title from Santos Escobar at TakeOver 31 and continuing to wage a war against all of Legado del Fantasma.

Interestingly, Adonis, who has been receiving lessons from Kendrick, also tried to dish out an assist to “Swerve” during the Cruiserweight Championship bout, as Adonis rushed to the ringside area to help Scott fight off the meddlesome Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza.

Regardless, two of the absolute best on the purple brand will square off tonight in what is sure to be a must-see collision, and both Superstars can ill-afford another loss.
Daivari

Additionally, the brash Ariya Daivari will bring back Daivari’s Dinero Division, wherein $10,000 of his own money will be on the line.

This week, Daivari has challenged Performance Center recruits Anthony Greene and Curt Stallion to step into the squared circle with the 205 Live Original.

Can one of the newcomers become $10,000 richer, or will Daivari Dinero continue to reign over his own division and brutalize his less experienced foes?

Don’t miss what is sure to be a thrilling edition of 205 Live, streaming on WWE Network tonight at 10/9 C!

Mostly the same people isn't the same thing as EXACTLY the same people, same aliens, and same dinosaurs each and every week though right?

Emperor Smeat 10-16-2020 08:02 PM

Maybe if AEW held a draft having almost everyone staying on the same show or brand.

Was going to include a Gillberg & Goldberg joke but not enough space was left in the thread header to pull it off.

Emperor Smeat 10-16-2020 08:11 PM

Opening talkies with Triple H & Steph was decent.

Same for the all-out brawl that happened afterwards.

Lol fair!

Emperor Smeat 10-16-2020 08:17 PM

Next week's show on FS1 is going to be interesting in regards to how big of a drop they are going to suffer in viewership.

Last time it happened, SD went from 2.4 million to 880k because of baseball taking over their FOX spot that week.

xrodmuc316 10-16-2020 08:18 PM

Did Cole just say "Jeff Jarrett" can't believe what he just saw instead of Hardy??

Emperor Smeat 10-16-2020 08:20 PM

Lars vs. Jeff Hardy was decent at best.

On the bright side, was completly expecting them to do some lame DQ or non-finish to kick off the new season and instead they did an actual finish for the match.

He's been having some weird goof ups of late like when he said Steph was a "champion of equality and racism" when they aired a video listing her as the most influential woman in a high executive job in the world.

No. Probably saving that for a PPV show.

I have a feeling that there is a long term plan for Big E and The New Day. Feel like he will go into next years draft as the champion. Either he or Kofi/Xavier get traded, putting them back on the same show. Kofi and Xavier try to reunite with him and he suddenly doesnt want anything to do with them because he think he is better than they are, leading to a feud between Big E and Kofi with Xavier trying to play peacemaker.

RP 10-16-2020 08:55 PM

Did the WWE put all the blacks on one roster so they can wrestle eachother to death?

Emperor Smeat 10-16-2020 08:56 PM

6-man tag match was pretty good despite being a bit too long in the tooth. That match and the pre-match promo by New Day ate up almost 30 minutes or so of the show.

Could see that happen but maybe more like 2 years from now and likely when Kofi and/or Xaiver are ready to retire.

If the rumors about Big E becoming the top face star of SD are true, he's going to have a lengthy period as a major face star before any potential heel turn happens.

Emperor Smeat 10-16-2020 09:01 PM

 at the same guy showing up on multiple screens behind Bryan.

Wonder how many of these people in the virtual crowd are actually watching the show right now and how many are just past fan videos being played back based on that recent report about the video wall shenanigans from NXT.

Emperor Smeat 10-16-2020 09:12 PM

Forgot where I read it first but Street Profits managed to become WWE's newest Triple Crown guys despite them not actually winning one of the tag belts.

Won the NXT and RAW tag belts but only got the SD tag belts via swapping belts with New Day which is how their historic Triple Crown moment happened.

Emperor Smeat 10-16-2020 09:17 PM

:| SD tag title match ending via no contest.

 at Ric Flair randomly showing up on one of the fan crowd screens.

Emperor Smeat 10-16-2020 09:27 PM

The more he keeps showing up on WWE shows, the more I keeping thinking that Adam Pearce really does look like a young bald version of HBK.

For a season premiere show, its not really doing anything interesting to build up or give a strong reason to bother watching next week's show despite not being a bad show so far this week. Same problem last year's FOX premiere show had where it was entertaining but did a piss poor job building up the next week's show.

I noticed there were a lot of people on the videos doing the yes chant with their arms and he hasn't been around since they started doing the Thunderdome so I'm guessing you're not right on it for that moment anyway
