Good Noid post :y:

(The Summerslam card)

How would you suggest or like to see AEW book Mark Henry and Paul Wight if/when they do an in ring program?

I think for Wight the key program would be MJF. It would be a good story for MJF once the Inner Circle story is finished. I could see some fun back and forth in promos and angles, wight could face off against the other Pinnacle members on his way to MJF. Maybe even have Wardlow go over with MJF causing some kind of screwjob for Wardlow which would culminate in a big one on one at a ppv with Wight and MJF.

With Mark Henry, he tends to work great as a heel so I'd probably want to see him start something with Jurassic Express, or perhaps a version of David vs Goliath with Darby. Similar to Nash vs the X Division. Also a big battle with Miro would interest me, same with Archer. Perhaps I'm a little more intrigued by Henry than Wight when it comes to in ring. Probably because a heel version of either guy is better for booking, and Henry is more likely to play heel.

Jordan 06-06-2021 09:49 AM

Also just want to say that I really want to see Christian get a match against Kenny at some point. Hopefully this summer. Maybe after Kenny goes over Jungle Boy by the skin of his teeth.

screech 06-06-2021 10:17 AM

I want both of them to [separately] launch Marko Stunt into the 15th row

slik 06-06-2021 01:15 PM

Brandon Cutler should be repackaged as Christian's heel manager

Lock Jaw 06-06-2021 01:27 PM

Christian doesn't need a manager. He should be his own heel manager.

slik 06-06-2021 01:43 PM

But if Cutler was his heel manager he could wear a similar cape to the ring that Cutler does...it's all about the capes, bro

They should cut a promo about how awesome AEW is, and how they aren't being held back anymore. Then they should take a shot at "that old man" we used to work for.

It's such a unique promo, hardly ever used, so it will make an immediate shift in wrestling!

Wight has to put over whichever big guy AEW decides they want to get behind. I'm saying Archer. Give him the ole "successor" rub and anoint him as the new giant in town. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have both Wight and Henry put over Archer, honestly.

I dunno what you do with Henry honestly. Having him work with Miro was my first thought too, and it isn't a bad idea but I feel like a lot of people might get that WWE stink from it. Maybe something with Hangman (although I think he would be better served working with Christian)? Henry definitely would have to play the old monster heel angle, but he can do that easily. Wouldn't mind seeing Mark work a program with Wardlow either.

They should talk about how they are "finally free to be themselves" and start wrassling in dresses

Mr. Nerfect 06-06-2021 04:22 PM

They’re finally free to be themselves, but are just happy to be in the promotion run by such wrestling luminaries as The Young Bucks, who they idolized on the circuit.

Mr. Nerfect 06-06-2021 04:28 PM

In more “Dave Meltzer’s balls are for busting” news: Dave was going on one of his “Well, ACTUALLY...” soaps on Twitter and, of all people, drunken ass Chris Jericho came in to correct Dave, possibly not realizing that Dave’s whole agenda was to make AEW look like some sort of promised land.

It was in regards to talent choosing AEW over WWE. Basically, Dave said that all the talent had chosen to leave WWE for AEW, except for Brodie Lee, but he was released when his contract was expiring, so it was definitely his choice. Rusev was in the same boat but Meltzer missed that. Jericho’s correction was that he hadn’t been under contract with the WWE for 18 months by the time he signed with AEW.

It’s not a giant thing, like conflating PPV numbers, lying about their creative, lying about the New Japan relations, etc. But it’s just more in the pattern of this guy either no longer having a clue or being so far in AEW’s corner that he will just spin anything.

“The second least good match on the show.”

He is probably the worst "reporter" in any industry. The most biased lying con artist there is.

Lock Jaw 06-06-2021 05:44 PM

Feel like there are actual reporters of news media who are worse.

Yeah there for sure are. But as far as big rasslin reporters he is pretty much King Shit.

There are bigger assholes who tell bigger lies, but they don't charge $11.99 per month.

He is the worst.

Lock Jaw 06-06-2021 09:44 PM

In wrestling sure, but not "in any industry". Just can't give that to you. But I also don't really care that much, so whatever.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-06-2021 10:00 PM

So Noid still follows Dave Meltzer and still watches AEW. Probably the least surprising news of the day.

Yeah me either, in fact if we want to count political commentators as reporters, then there are certainly quite a few in his class of biased lying con artists.

Nope. See things second-hand.

Probably, but keeping to wrestling, he’s still exalted as this fair and impartial source. I think that idea needs to die.

Mr. Nerfect 06-07-2021 05:20 AM

Lately I’ve been going over 2002 SmackDown stuff. I remember watching a lot of it at the time, and obviously some of it has been mythologized over the years, so you feel like you’ve seen it even if you haven’t. But holy fuck. I had somehow forgotten how good Kurt Angle was. How good Chris Benoit was. How good Eddie Guerrero was. Like...you know, but sometimes you need to actually see it again.

Eddie Guerrero vs. Edge in the No DQ Match and Angle vs. Benoit vs. Guerrero vs. Edge, both from SmackDown, kind of have that modern “keep the pace going” mentality. You can see where the modern guys have plucked it from. But they just don’t have the *intensity* or the psychological focus that these guys had.

I bring this up in the AEW thread just because we’re talking about Meltzer. It’s ridiculous that Kurt Angle has never had a five star match, as good as he is. Yeah, it’s just the guy’s opinion. But it’s a bad take. Watch Angle wrestle and then go and watch Omega. They’re two entirely different leagues.

Friday Nights are a disaster, IDK why they bumped them there for a month. Were TruTV or TBS not an option for Wednesdays for a month?

Hopefully this kills the idea of Rampage being a Friday night show. They'll lose some momentum from this when they get back to Wednesday nights and will have to load up that first show back. Really moronic move to put them on Fridays at 10pm for a month.

Lol, Meltzer said the Dynamite numbers were “up significantly” from last week. Turns out they are down significantly. Whoops. AEW flopping fucking HARD on Friday nights. And make no mistake about it — there’s no magical fix for the damage this is doing. People just don’t give a shit.

Mr. Nerfect 06-08-2021 03:19 AM

AEW about to drop below Cornette’s podcast numbers.
