Old heads help me get into Ronnie Garvin because I do not get. Seems very bland.

hahaha, I'm so glad you brought him up because yesterday i literally said to myself he is the all time blandest "high profile" wrestler i've ever seen. And I'm almost 100% positive Vince never even saw the guy work and just signed him because he heard he was a former NWA Champion. Vince got him and his best feud was basically against Greg Valentine, which was a complete throw away feud.

So yes Ronnie Garvin was terrible. Now Jimmy Garvin, that guy was money

LOVED that feud with Valentine.

This thread led me down the road to a Regal v Inoki match in WCW. Had no idea.

I never really got Garvin either, although I grew up with the WWF

He’s a short, stocky tough guy who just chops, punches and stretches people and sounds like Lou Costello on the mic.

What’s not to love?

Oh yeah Jimmy is a whole different story.

Also only recently learned that Ronnie is Jimmy’s real life stepfather even though Ronnie is only 7 years older than Jimmy.

i mean that feud destroys any under card feud the WWE puts on today, but god I hated Garvin. I think my fav moment of his was when he turned heel at i think Bash 88 and aligned with JJ or Gary Hart. I can't remember

We got possibly the most incomprehensible dusty Rhodes promo, in the history of incomprehensible dusty Rhodes promos. Called all the women in the audience ugly for some reason, and then spouted out nonsense words.

All while wearing a ball cap promoting a ski company.

- great "hump the neck" stretch by garvin.
- why did jimmy valiant get his thumb wet before jabbing the golden terror in the throat with it? then he's just yelling about daddies and babies. baby.
- i already knew this, but ric flair makes everyone look like a joker when he gets on the mic.
- tony zane's face looks like a mix of STD and zeeboe.
- impressed by art pritts. didn't think the match would be anywhere near that competitive.
- that dusty rhodes promo was 100% cocaine. couldn't keep a damn train of thought on the tracks lol.
- wait is that the big fucking boss man? well then.
- lee peek got me pining for a mulkey.
- 20 tons of steel on a steel toe boot, no problem? 20 TONS?
- that rock n roll express double dropkick never gets old.
- lol cornette complaining about thousands of 12 year old girls threatening his life.

- these episodes are the first time i'm watching any magnum in earnest, and i'm won over by that real subdued intensity he has.
- lolllllllllllll george south! i can't even look at this guy.
- raging bull continuing the trend of everyone constantly staying "baby." "at christmastime i get ten, not nine, christmas cards." what?
- i love the idea of someone approaching arn in a bathroom to say, "hey, dusty is gonna break your leg."
- totally zoned out during the next match. this is far more fun with the group.
- garvin the exact opposite of flair on the mic. i'm gonna take a nap.
- at this point i'm having more fun watching this birdlike ref run around the ring.
- whoops missed an entire raging bull match and now dusty is here. yep there he goes saying he doesn't see any pretty women. did he just try to say tuchus and say something like cockass? and then make a fart sound? HAHAHA ok #1-wwf-fan now i get the boola boola talk.
- fucking thunderfoot back in the mix. glad the other jobber did the job.
- cornette loves talking about feuding with 12 year olds.

So... Bad news and good news.

Tonight’s show will be a little different. Apparently there was no 2-1-86 show for some reason. Instead, we’ll be watching the Superstars on the Superstation show from the following weekend. Unfortunately, it won’t be as jobber-rific but the card is stacked.

Ron Garvin gets his chance to force Ric Flair to not be able to pay his taxes by taking the world championship from him (I don’t get it either. His words, not mine.) Dusty vs Tully. Midnights vs Rock n Roll Express...
