I wonder if people will care more or less about The Miz vs. Sin Cara than they do Miz vs. Baron Corbin

KIRA 11-13-2017 09:03 PM

BRAUN WILL EAT YOU FLAG BOY AND SPIT OUT THE STARS GIVE HIM ANYTHING HE WANTS

Evil Vito 11-13-2017 09:04 PM

An hour into a weekly three hour show and Kurt has booked his main event. Good to see he was hard at work putting together this Raw card during his last six days off.

Besides some bright moments here and there, everything about it and 205 Live has been a huge disappointment overall.

The cruisers in the WWE were always going to be a bad idea. #1-wwf-fan and I used to disagree on this, because he had the viewpoint that they didn't have to be, and he's right, except we're talking about the WWE.

The belts that matter, if any do, are the "World" Titles. That's it. If you're a cruiserweight who matters then you are not in the Cruiserweight Division. See: Rey Mysterio when he was getting pushed, Finn Balor. Enzo Amore was sent there and pushed despite nuclear heat.

Being a certain size in New Japan might work for guys, but even there the aim is to move out and onto the heavyweights. The idea that a Cruiserweight Title is going to be treated as a legitimate World Title for people 205lbs or under is just not a realistic expectation to have of WWE and Vince McMahon.

The CWC was a cute idea for the Network. It could have (re)introduced some personalities that could have gained traction. Brian Kendrick, Tajiri, Cedric Alexander, Johnny Gargano, TJ Perkins and Gran Metalik all had stuff going for them when the tourny was over. Who means the most out of them now? Johnny Gargano. He's not main roster and he's not associated with the cruiserweights.

They should have just kept it limited to a tournament that could cycle in some fresh faces. Try and get it on USA or ESPN every year and hope that it generates some money. But they got the idea that small guys draw from it, as opposed to the idea that a sports-based presentation with stakes worked.

I'm going all over the place with this, but basically the idea of a Crusierweight Division in the WWE is dumb, because you want to be a heavyweight, so when the term "cruiserweight" was exiled, everybody got more of a chance. Now you are reminding people that people are little again, and they're being booked in the same style and no one gives a flying fuck, and it was always going to be that way, just like it was always going to be that Asuka would end up as just another girl.

Yeah, always found it weird when they make their main events during the show

It's like "Ok, what was your plan for the show before this?"

Emperor Smeat 11-13-2017 09:05 PM

Going to laugh if another title change happens with the US and/or Smackdown's Women's championships. Would be a clear sign the WWE realized the initial inter-brand matchups were terrible or didn't make sense with their traditional heel-face style bookings.

Another reason most people think wrestling is stupid.

wait....the show is only an hour in?

Mr. Nerfect 11-13-2017 09:08 PM

Charlotte Flair winning the SmackDown Women's Title always seemed like a possibility. Sin Cara winning the US Title would be better for everyone. That being said, there is this perverse dichotomy between Miz and Corbin, even though they are both heels. I was kind of thinking that both might lose their belts but that they'd still have the match.

Biggest mistake was having Vince be in total control of the division considering its arguably the one thing he can't book correct or handle based on history.

Agree on the last part since nothing about the division really feels unique compared to the CWC or even how other companies promote Cruiser style wrestling. Triple H had the right idea about wanting to limit wear and tear but WWE went overboard with the restrictions and forcing the WWE style on the division.

KIRA 11-13-2017 09:10 PM

Are they having a laugh with Cesaro sounding like mushmouth I know the teeth and all but it feels like they are turning it into a thing

KIRA 11-13-2017 09:12 PM

Miz has been taking cues from elementary school teachers his voice is just like theirs with that mouth shut thing

Even so, the style of wrestling is integrated into WWE programming now. Everybody flips and dives. Cruiserweight wrestling has been amalgamated into the ring product. Going "harder" or "faster" wouldn't have necessarily helped it, because that shit just loses people too. The format of the CWC could have been applied to African-American talents, or giant heavyweights, or just had an international theme. The idea that they all had to make a weight limit was cute, but wasn't actually that important beyond a storytelling device for how much hard work Cedric Alexander did to qualify.

That it got over because of "cruiserweights" is the wrong idea to take from it, I think. It got over because of realistic human drama and the stakes of being knocked out and your dream being over. And the matches were good, but a large part of that is the vibe around them and that they were part of a larger story that mattered to them. They weren't good because the guys were small or wrestling any faster than they were on 205 Live.

TJ Perkins should have won the tournament and received an NXT Title shot and probably won the belt. Turns out the guy is a piece of shit, and he wouldn't have been my pick to take the whole thing, but once you've got him there, that's where you go, in my opinion. He proves he's the pound-for-pound best, but now he's got to go swimming with larger sharks. He succeeds. Babyface story complete.

Lock Jaw 11-13-2017 09:17 PM

I'm glad they keep saying The Original Shield or else I would totally get confused and assume Kurt Angle was wrestling.

They want Roman Reigns to be a hero for kids, but they dress him like a pussy in safety gear.

rez 11-13-2017 09:18 PM

after SS they should give The Shield the Vacation Griswald kid treatment week in week out.

Bray getting sick right before the Sister Braygail vs DEMON Balor match might have been the best thing to ever happen to him in the WWE. Even more than winning the WWE title because the Sister Braygail was a career disaster thing in the making with the way the Balor feud was heading towards.

KIRA 11-13-2017 09:24 PM

Bray Wyatt is the living breathing example of how incompetent this company is

It's okay.

When Kurt gets fired by Stephanie and Bray is introduced as the new GM Mrs Abigail, he'll still be boned.

Bray just needs to get a release or be released. Glacier WCW levels of fail but over a much larger span of time

They couldve gotten Jordan over by just letting him wrestle but noooo Vince needs his soap opera bullshit

Let's not act like Jason Jordan is Daniel Bryan or something. He didn't even get over on his ring work in NXT. He got over by being the dude Chad Gable said obnoxiously cheesy stuff to.
