Sale's numbers dont say he's is one of the best pitchers in baseball.

Ol Dirty Dastard 03-02-2017 07:30 PM

He can be pretty fucking dominant though.

Droford 03-02-2017 08:58 PM

Orioles scrub team got 1 hit vs the Yankees

Ugg

Droford 03-02-2017 09:05 PM

I'm not convinced that Sale will be good going from pitching in the AL Central which has been the worst division in baseball the last couple years to the AL East which has been the toughest division in baseball for like the last decade plus

If Sale isn't top shelf, David Price is out..that puts a lot of pressure on Porcello to replicate 2016. Not to mention Pomeranz has a bum arm too

I bet BoSox are wishing they had Buchholz back right about now....

Nah still a smart decision to move on from him even with today's news about Price. Just too injury prone and inconsistent the past few years. Had he not tanked his trade value, his time with the Sox would have been over a lot sooner.

No, I had about enough 5+ run innings with enough walks that Aerosmith should have been his theme song.

Emperor Smeat 03-03-2017 05:37 PM

Red Sox dodged a bullet with Price. Only needs rest and not surgery so just 1-2 Spring Training starts are missed.

Phew.

Once elbow problems start, they won't quit for a while.... they're going to have to be really careful with him....

Evil Vito 03-05-2017 10:50 AM

For the second year in a row, the Mets have stuck to their hardline stance of not negotiating with their pre-arbitration eligible players and simply renewing their contracts. It was deGrom last year, and now Thor. Neither player signed their deals because they disagreed with what the team was offering them.

Reportedly the Mets and Thor were only $9k apart. Seems baffling to me that they'd miff their ace over what amounts to pennies in baseball.

SlickyTrickyDamon 03-05-2017 09:30 PM

It's probably not about the money but the principle of the thing.

Reports are that he has had elbow issues at Spring Training in years before. Could be just a winter rust situation.

Ol Dirty Dastard 03-05-2017 09:57 PM

Some wank material for Droford

They really should do it after the season ends. Pick some nice places where it's warm AF year round.

When I said I wanted more day games 4am is not what I had in mind.

Evil Vito 03-06-2017 10:08 AM

Literally nobody important would play if it was after the season.

Emperor Smeat 03-06-2017 04:18 PM

Would also be competing against the Caribbean Leagues players like to go for winter baseball.

Unless MLB ever considers going in a similar route like MLS and NHL does for World Cups and Winter Olympics where they have a special break in the middle of the season, Spring Training is the only real time possible to hold the WBC.

I think they might. If they get hurt they will have the off-season to get better. If they get hurt in the current set up they might miss the season.

Droford 03-06-2017 11:20 PM

I think the WBC is stupid since there's only like 4 good teams. DR Cuba Korea and US.

Directed Mets games for 40 years and also directed MLB on Fox

Not Japan anymore?

Nicky Fives 03-08-2017 07:31 AM

Call me crazy, but I'd take Brett Lawrie back with the Jays in a heartbeat.

Evil Vito 03-08-2017 08:53 AM

Israel and Netherlands advance out of Pool A, Korea and Chinese Tapei are done. Wow.

Italy comes back from down by 4 in the bottom of the ninth to beat Mexico!

Nicky Fives 03-10-2017 07:02 AM

Aaron Sanchez is on the Canadian cover. Seems smart to feature different athletes in different countries. They could even have a dozen different covers just in the States and I bet it would help sales....

Evil Vito 03-10-2017 11:18 AM

The starting outfield for today's Mets Spring Training game:

LF Yoenis Cespedes
CF Curtis Granderson
RF Tim Tebow

Ruien 03-10-2017 11:35 AM

Why is Tim Tebow playing in these games?

Evil Vito 03-10-2017 12:00 PM

The Mets have the lost 11 of 55 players from their spring training roster to the WBC, and they have a split squad today.

So they need to use a whole ton of minor leaguers to get through these games. And it's a cheap way to drum up interest in an otherwise meaningless spring game.

Ruien 03-10-2017 12:18 PM

Haha awesome. Hope he gets on a hot streak.

watching WBC and they keep showing the Puerto Rico tourism ad and all I can think of is "Where are the Shining Stars?"

Adam Jones the hero for team USA

SlickyTrickyDamon 03-10-2017 11:13 PM

Moonax can you send me another fantasy baseball join request. Accidentally deleted cause I thought it was Wadding's league that never started last year.

Droford 03-11-2017 01:00 PM

Angel Pagan didn't pass the Orioles physical (unsure when) which might be why he hasn't signed anywhere.
Pedro Alvarez signed a minor league deal with the Orioles and he's going to be playing OF in AAA.

Evil Vito 03-11-2017 10:04 PM

DR just came back from a 5-0 deficit against Andrew Miller and Team USA.

At this point I fully expect the DR to run the table on the whole tournament again. They're scary good.
