NXT UK: Takeover Blackpool

Anybody else watching?

Great tag team opener, and a special appearance so far.

Outsider 01-12-2019 03:05 PM

Watching.

Excellent so far. Pumped for Eddie Dennis next.

Outsider 01-12-2019 03:11 PM

Eddie Dennis and Trent Seven both at an indie show tomorrow night (among a couple of others not featured tonight) so a decent weekend of British wrestling for me.

Outsider 01-12-2019 03:21 PM

FACT: Blackpool is a shit hole.

XL 01-12-2019 03:21 PM

Still not sold on Dennis.

slik 01-12-2019 03:24 PM

How's it been? I will try and watch it later tonight.

Impromptu Balor match sounds cool.

You, sir, are incorrect.

In fairness, not sure he has had much of an opportunity to showhat he can do yet. So far just squash matches and working against a very heavy opponent who doesn't seem to be much of an actual wrestler.

Put him against some better and give them some time and I think he'd turn a few heads.

The tag match was better.

Outsider 01-12-2019 03:31 PM

Kay Lee Ray shown. Current World of Sport women's champion.

Outsider 01-12-2019 03:56 PM

Not convinced on Coffey as a main event of the first Takeover. Seems there are others who would have been better suited. Will be gutted if Dunne drops the belt tonight. Don't get me wrong, he needs to soon to use the belt to put someone else over and move him on to better things, just not tonight.

RP 01-12-2019 03:59 PM

I'm not watching. Did Toni Storm drop the mat and start diddling herself after she won the women's title?

Can’t get past his attire/look.

Yes.

XL 01-12-2019 04:26 PM

They’ll probably cut it from the replay though.

Having not seen the video or pictures in question I assume it is a reference to that, but alas no, not on this occasion.

XL 01-12-2019 04:37 PM

WALTER.

slik 01-12-2019 08:48 PM

I guess they've never seen the Bayley to Belly

I don't know who Eddie Dennis is, and they probably can't help their real name, but anyone named Eddie Dennis sounds like they should be 80 years old. Also, I don't trust anyone's whose initials spell their first name.

I hope that, when/if he gets called up, Walter gets a better name. Walter sounds like the name of the produce manager of a Supermarket.

Or the Atomic Noogie.

Missed it live but just finished watching a replay.

UK Tag Title match was amazing. Easily was the match of the night.

Finn Balor making a surprise appearance was cool. Balor vs Devlin was really good.

Mastiff vs Dennis was decent. Haven't been interested in Dennis nor his feud with Mastiff.

UK Women's title match was good overall. Still not a fan of Rhea Ripley's new theme since her previous one was way better.

 at Wolfgang's ridiculous looking suit. UK title match was really good. WALTER showing up at the end was great and NXT UK's future going to have a lot of bruised chests. Already way more interested in a WALTER vs Dunne title match than I was for this match and feud.

Overall, very enjoyable show and would put it about a tier or two below the All-Time Greats scale for NXT TakeOver events.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-13-2019 02:16 AM

Very good show. Hadn't really caught up to NXT UK. Will probably just start off from this event without going back.

DaveWadding 01-14-2019 12:02 AM

Valter vs. Peter Doone is gonna be a barnburner.

Evil Vito 01-14-2019 12:18 PM

Can't wait to hear people on the internet accuse WALTER of being an unsafe worker because he chops the shit out of people

Who is Walter and why should I be marking out?

Is he good?

He's another big man in generic ring gear with awesome presentation. The funny thing is, he's a big guy who relatively moves like a big guy who is mostly about power and domination; something honestly missing from current gen (read: "the big guy who moves like a cruserweight" thing... it was cool when it was a shallow pool, like Bam Bam or Vader, but when EVERY big guy does it, it has the same effect of having a roster chock full of guys who are all around 7ft, which leaves you with both no giants and all "normal" sized guys looking like total midgets.).

I'm not totally on this guy's dick, but he's walking a fine line between "breath of fresh air in throwback packaging" and "generic foreign heel #385", and is teetering on the good side of it thus far. If he gets some polish, he can be a big deal beyond "indie darling", but if he gets rushed in WWE, he can be a total flop.
