I mean, to me, it's like if ROH started a Cruiserweight Division and featured Cheeseburger, and then WWE got Cheeseburger. Cheeseburger's not a big star just because he is a tiny guy that was available for ROH's tiny guy division.

Yeah, I've not felt any major interest coming out of this Women of Honor thing. It feels like something they could scrap tomorrow and no one would really give a shit.

Are you sure it's a case of "This Purrazzo woman is AMAZING! We NEED to build an entire division around HER!" and not "We're going to do something with women. Which women are available to us?" And if she was that valuable, wouldn't she be under some sort of fixed contract? I knew that ROH finally got a women's champion, but I didn't realize that it was drawing them any big money or anything.

That's pretty much the reason they signed her for in 2015. She was used as a showcase for women's wrestling in ROH and eventually lead to bigger things for them afterwards.

In terms of status or drawing power, they are probably comparable to early NXT's women's era or TNA/Impact's early Knockouts era. Its something still building up its rep and hasn't reached a critical Sasha-Bayley NXT moment yet.

At least with her last contract, it was a fixed one but for some reason ROH also included an opt out clause for her. She might also be more of the Kota Ibushi type in terms of sticking around in companies.

That's mainly due to ROH's booker being terrible with his handling of it to the point there were rumors Stardom was considering backing out of their partnership deal.

Mr. Nerfect 07-04-2018 10:52 PM

What big things though? By your own admission of the terrible booking, it's been a non-factor. She's been there three years and I've barely even heard of her. I was at least interesting enough in the NXT and TNA women to check them out. Nothing besides screen-grabs of Emma have made it into my scope. It sounds like she's just a talent that was hired because they wanted women as another gimmick on the show. Which is fine and fair enough, but I don't think it's "big" or "important" in any sense of the world compared to anything else. Just like the six-man tag belts they've got there aren't a big deal. Or the ROH World Title really isn't a big deal. What in ROH is even big?

Destor 07-04-2018 10:58 PM

Sounds like theyre advertising it as important. Marketing isnt reality though.

That's a succinct way of getting to my point. ROH can call her the hottest thing since baked bread all they want, but when ROH is only drawing the audience it is, how big can it possibly even be?

Destor 07-04-2018 11:01 PM

In any case losing her will cost them $0 and the same ammount of eyeballs. Its irrelevant. She might have been able to win people over on the show but atthe end of the day thenshow had more of a chance at getting her over than she had a chance to get the show over.

The show loses nothing but a potential that has no quantifiable value.

Rey is another topic.

Mr. Nerfect 07-04-2018 11:24 PM

It'll be interesting to see what happens there. It would seem kind of odd for Rey to cancel a date, but WWE are obviously going to put the pressure on, and he's obviously agreed to some shit, given his pre-order bonus status for the game.

slik 07-04-2018 11:34 PM

As Kenny's show in Daytona showed, it doesn't really matter what 'names' they get as long as it's a good/well put together show.

Which I think it will be.

#1-norm-fan 07-04-2018 11:39 PM

Not gonna lie, I'm kinda intrigued as far as how WWE will use Rey. I'm sure he'll be "just another guy" within a month but... surely they don't relegate him to 205 Live. Do they just bring him in to feud with someone like The Drifter? Do they put him in the title scene on Smackdown?

No idea what you mean. That show had Naito and Omega on it. Those are two of the biggest names in the business

Destor 07-05-2018 12:50 AM

Luddites.

Its the internet age guys. You dont need TV anymore.

Destor 07-05-2018 12:56 AM

Side bar: Legit think twitchand YouTube have a big role to play in what wrestling turns into from here. Been saying this for about a year now. Omega was the frst to test it. Stream held 10k+ through out plus the gate which was what 8k?

This is all very infantile but a good decent product could balloon quickly.

Wrestling, historically, has always been one of the first adopters of mediums. It was one of the first to be on network television. As stations went national, so did wrestling. Cable is one of the main reasons why Vince's hair brained scheme worked.

So it stands to reason that Wrestling would debut on Twitch before long. And it could actually change the idea of promotion forever.

Big names to NJPW fans, yes, but not to WWE fans.

Omega showed you don't have to load the card w/ former WWE main-eventers so Cody will be just fine w/o Rey.

Watched the impact/lucha underground crossover WM weekend on twitch. It was great. Would definitely watch rasslin on twitch again.

Simple Fan 07-05-2018 08:22 PM

I like the Villain but was hoping for an Okada vs Pentagon match. I'd say Pentagon and Fenix will probably face the Young Bucks.

They're not drawing the WWE audience though. It's not so much that Rey is a former WWE name (which would help with walk-ups and people in Chicago, but tickets have already been sold), but it's more so that he's one of the GOAT his inclusion is so important. He's part of so many memories in ECW, WCW and WWE for those fans. Omega and Naito are the hot thing for the internet audience and can do no wrong right now.

I love Christopher Daniels. My god does Kazarian look different though. Not bad different, but he looks a lot rougher now.

Mr. Nerfect 07-05-2018 09:34 PM

Would genuinely love SCU to kick the doors down in WWE and go against The Shield or something. Or The Bullet Club on SmackDown, as much as I'm not interested in the side players in that unit.

Evil Vito 07-06-2018 11:56 AM

They'd have Scorpio Sky re-emerge as Harold and cost Team Hell No their tag title match.

Evil Vito 07-06-2018 11:59 AM

I do love Christopher Daniels. I remember retirement rumors started floating around with him when he was around his 40th birthday.

Now here he is still plugging along at nearly 50 and still churning out good matches.

Mr. Nerfect 07-06-2018 05:33 PM

He cut a promo before a Ladder War or something that actually got me to buy a ROH PPV. I couldn't get through the whole thing in order to get to that actual match, but I contributed my money.

Simple Fan 07-09-2018 01:00 PM

Flip Gordon vs Nick Aldis for the NWA Worlds Heaveyweight Championship has been booked for Honor For All on July 20th.

Innovator 07-09-2018 02:18 PM

LETS GO FLIP

Destor 07-09-2018 02:23 PM

That could be any indy show anywhere

Big Vic 07-09-2018 02:44 PM

This PPV still hasn't happened?

Lock Jaw 07-09-2018 03:05 PM

With a name like Flip Gordon, I expect him to pretty much never walk or run, but to just flip everywhere.

September 1st and I'm thinking that it will air on AXS TV instead of PPV.

Destor 07-09-2018 03:31 PM

That would be a mistake

Simple Fan 07-09-2018 04:24 PM

They talked about it on the most recent episode of All Us. AXS TV gets a special thanks in the credits but might just be because most of that was filmed when they were doing the NJPW marathon. Don't know but I think more people would see it on AXS TV than they would if its a PPV.

screech 07-09-2018 10:13 PM

I don't even know what AXS TV is.

Are iPPVs still a thing? Or have they migrated to twitch and stuff (which would probably be better, really)?

Jordan 07-10-2018 10:54 AM

Cody told Dave they are going to either do traditional PPV or iPPV, not TV.

Destor 07-10-2018 11:23 AM

iPPV would be best unless they could get PPV on the cheap.

Jordan 07-10-2018 11:43 AM

I'm watching Being The Elite.... I really hate how pro wrestler "act" and put on this boisterous way of talking. It's as if they want "the whole room" to pay attention to their act, rather than just be natural on camera and have a conversation with truth moment to moment. Bad acting. Bad bad bad.

Jordan 07-10-2018 11:44 AM

If you don't know what I'm talking about watch Marty Scurl and Jericho at the beginning of this weeks Being The Elite.

Jordan 07-10-2018 11:46 AM

It's a pretty damn slick move for Jericho to make himself a part of all this though. And I'm not being critical of Jericho's acting or delivery, specifically everyone else in the Bullet Club except Cody.
