Captain Marvel (2019)
Looks great!

Nice.
I never read Captain Marvel.

It's like me posting in multiple manga threads "I've never read those". |

I wasnt blown away, but i'm excited about it. I like they got CP in the Mohawk in a few of those scenes.

Potential. |
Was wondering what was up with the green suit she was wearing in the set photos.
Looks neat. Could be right up there with Wonder Woman if Marvel does this right. |
I like that the trailer doesn't do anything to explain the concept of skrulls, and most moviegoers will think this noble hero is just clocking an old lady lol
They are seriously asking about it on Twitter.
How come Nick Fury still has both eyes when Coulson is already around?
Because he must have lost the eye after he met Coulson?
Thank you for a stupid answer but that's not what they said earlier.
When did they say that?
I remember Fury talking about "trusting someone" and losing an eye because of it.... but that's all I remember...... |
Fuck if I remember when. Maybe I'm confusing with comics.
If he said he trusted someone and lost an eye because of it, I'm gonna assume it's gonna happen here, like you know, trusted someone who turned out to be a Skrull or something. |

What I meant he should have lost his eye earlier than that, but as I already mentioned, I might have been thinking comics. |
Still dunno about Brie Larson. She has this soft girl next door look, and sweet voice. Pretty much the opposite of what I imagine when thinking of the character. In the comics, she exudes an air of strength and authority that I just do not get looking at Brie.
I get that they want a younger actress, as they probably have future plans for the character, but how awesome would Charlize Theron have been? Would have been perfect. Like Ryan Renolds as Deadpool perfect. |
Yeah it probably should have been Theron. Or my personal pick, already Disney employee Jennifer Morrison (OuaT). She can do tough, soft, and funny. She's MCU ready.
I was pulling for Natalie Dormer
Quote:
Natalie Dormer is actually a brilliant shout. Nobody needs old Charlize. Personally I enjoy watching Brie Larson in anything, even her silent role in Don Jon. |
In my mind, especially from how she looks in the comics, I thought Margot Robbie would have been perfect for captain marvel.
Margot Robbie would be perfect if she was as prone to nudity as Helen Mirren and could act half as well.

everything about Scott Pilgrim was win
Except the part where there Funko Pops rape my of my wallet because everyone one is like a very limited exclusive. One Day gonna have to suck it up and get that Sex Bob-Omb 3 Pack which sadly has gone up to 600 bucks.
If you're that big of a fan I assume you've read the books. Love them so much
Yeah I've read the books. Wish Clash and the Boys had a bigger role, and that the Todd and Scott fight took place in a supermarket
I wasn't big on Scott Pilgrim. I liked whichever Culkin was in it as his acerbic gay roommate and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is one of the top working actresses who can play disinterested extremely well without coming off as cunty but Michael Cera is such a fuckwad in that film that I can't see me watching it again anytime soon. It's like 500 Days of Summer, you follow a knobhead through a disaster of his own creation. I don't want to spend 90 minutes with that douche.
It was "OK", but generally very highly overrated, just like the comic book version.
Edgar Wright doesn't blow my mind.
Baby Driver was very meh. |

Still don’t completely buy Brie as Carol. Not gonna ruin the movie for me or anything. Still hyped.
Those twitter clips never work for me. Meh.

More hyped for Aquaman so far, but this looks like it could also be a'ight
Hmm...
The two trailers so far aren't really garnering the response MCU trailers tend to get. The last time people were this chill about an MCU movie was Thor 2; we're excited but not 'cancel everything on premier date' excited. During the coming press tour it's extremely important Marvel Studios doesn't coast on Carol being a woman. Do not feed trolls and certainly do not insult fans. And absolutely avoid the word Feminism. |
Also Once Upon A Time's Jennifer Morrison or Atomic Blonde Charlize Theron should have absolutely been top picks for Cpt Marvel. Particularly Morrison who already has an MCU vibe about her (can be serious, vunerable, or comedic at will).

There's excitement, sure, but no 'breaking the internet' where you can't click or scroll anywhere without seeing people talk about the movie. And I'm not just comparing this with the Infinity War trailer last year which was a fuckin holiday. The buzz between this and Black Panther or Ragnarok is seperated by more than a few degrees. It probably hurt Cpt Marvel to be preceding Avengers 4 - people are talking about that when all the buzz should be about Carol. It's a unique marketing issue Marvel Studios will have to contend with since they went three showings a year.
They have to space things out so their movies aren't competing against each other. |

Also, Bree Larson is totally #metoo now on Twitter lol |
I love Captain Marvel

Brie Larson had zero standards before she got the Captain Marvel job. Once she got the job, she all like #METOO!
They should have just cast Gal Gadot, then everyone would love it!
I mean, the #MeToo movement wasn't even around when Brie Larson started out so I'm not sure how she could have represented it before now.
Also, great arse :y:
Quote:
Uhhhh it may have not been a " twitter movement" but it was a general rule in life. What the fuck are you even talking about. Shitty people like you thought the movement took a twitter #Hashtag.... It didnt. It took normal people knowing right from wrong. Brie Larson simulating double penetration sex, happened. She dont get absolved because she all of a sudded gets the Captain Marvel role and claims #Metoo. FUCK YOU. That's insulting. |
Look at you trying on a little Virtue Signalling for size. Unfortunately you'll never find something to fit your 380lbs frame.
You're too dreadful a human for your indignation to be righteous and you clearly don't understand the difference between harmlessly earning money and actions which undermine a movement(which really hasn't progressed much beyond a hash tag and lots of finger pointing). Nothing she did in her films goes against the societal requirement not to abuse a fellow human sexually nor the movement that grew from the Weinstein revelations. Once again you are an idiot. No amount of drink should make a man as idiotic as you so consistently are. |
Double penetration is wrong. It's WRONG!
Quote:
But then it's spit-roasting. |
Who's Lucky Pierre?
RP what are you even inferring here? That actresses who do a commedy show where they pantomime DP aren't allowed to stand up against sexual abuse?
Like, I could understand your accusations if she made light of rape or something, but there is literally nothing wrong with those clips you posted. |
Yeah MeToo doesn't have anything to do with sexual media. She's said plenty feminist gaffs that are easier to laugh at, trust me. Those scenes are not indication of hypocrisy.
And she has no ass.
Quote:
This is some serious personal vitriol you're spitting right now. You would think i fucked your wife in your bed or something. |
R.I.P wife.
R.I.P bed. |
So I'm hyped but not as hyped as I am for Avengers 4. Also I think we can see how this story is gonna play out ok?
Not gonna lie, still gonna see it. |
lol

All that proves is that women only get to lead a teaser trailer and not the full one.
#notmypresident |
How miserable you gotta be to count words per gender.
I just counted and the dinosaurs in the Jurassic World trailer had 0 words and the humans had 416.
Be better Universal. #JusticeForDinos |
We should just be glad that Nick Fury is so badass women will actually let him talk without interrupting
I've never understood why people can't figure out the purpose of a hype man.
That takes me back.
I know the starry backgrounds and flaming text, I was a teen in the late 90's. Websites. |
Ya'll are dumb. I fap to Brie in Scott Pilgrim + the Spectacular Now to this day. Booties aren't everything.
:wtf:

The early critic reviews are overwhelmingly great. Everyone of them are saying this movie is great and on of the best Marvel films.
I figured it would be. Brie Larson picks good projects.
Haha brilliant website. Wow that takes me back.
Like Black Panther I can't take any professional review seriously. They will not be allowed to diss the money openly.
...and yet Black Panther was a great film. Sometimes people are right Kalyx.
It's not a right or wrong dichotomy, being that reviews are subjective to begin with. It's about genuine assessment.
Until Kalyx actually see's the movie, I dont expect anything from him. I'm not gonna judge him as right or wrong before the movie has actually come out.
I was simply reporting to this thread that the embargo on social media had been lifted and early short reviews seem great. |
Black Panther wasn't perfect and it certainly didn't get 100% positive reviews. Captain Marvel won't either. How that criticism is written might tread lightly. But critics aren't going to give the film a positive review if they didn't like it.
Some of these critics on twitter that have been allowed to see the movie and make a social media post, our legit critics. They're not people getting paid to watch this movie. The theory is that they are getting to watch this movie and the studio has a lot of confidence in there movie so they dont mind that they post about it on social media.
I'm not worried so much about people paid to say nice things.
Saw it, loved it, hyped for End Game.
I really needed to that from a normal person cause the reception has been a swamp of opposing extremes.
Movie was fucking great.... in the second half. First half seemed like it was mailed in. The second half though was constant rock and roll let's go.
Super hyped for End Game now too. |
Bree Larson was like a dead fish in a Captain Marvel uniform. If they wanted a dead fish they could of gotten Ellen Page for a lot cheaper.
LOL
I enjoyed it. Wouldn’t rate it with some of the higher quality marvel movies, but it was well above the worst. Middle of the road. Agree that the second half is better, but I didn’t dislike the first.
Brie does come off as a bit cold at times, but she’s supposed to be a soldier, so expect her to be stoic to some degree. She still shows some fun personality. I voiced my worries that Larson is too “girl next door” to be believable as Carol Danvers, but she ended up being stronger in the role that I had anticipated. They actually did a good job capturing the spirit of the character. Only criticism SPOILER: show |
Saw it. Movie was fine. I am unfamiliar with Brie Larson in any other of her films but it seemed a lot like she did not want to be there. Not the best Marvel movie, certainly not the worst.
That being said, the girl that I sat next to seemed to enjoy it on a whole other level, so bully for her. |
Quote:
They mary sued her like noone else in this movie. SPOILER: show |
She's not supposed to be vulnerable yet.
Just saw it. Another entertaining, but probably forgettable, Marvel movie.
I saw it. Pretty good. But I agree with some of the opinions that Brie Larson might have been wrong for the role. See review in last movie thread for details.
They did some cool things in this movie. They tied up a lot of loose ends, answered some questions and I really liked the skrulls. I just left the movie not feeling satisfied.
After seeing it I gotta say I enjoyed it a great deal. Was a really great origin story for Captain Marvel. Now for Endgame.
Got a case of the feels at that Stan Lee Marvel Studios logo
I will be seeing this on Saturday morning; how many end-credit scenes are there?
Two. One mid credits and one at the very end. You can probably skip the latter.
