Star Wars - SPOILERS INSIDE

Star Wars Script Finally Finished

Quote:

Today we've got good news for anyone who's been slightly apprehensive about the progress of Star Wars: Episode VII.In the last few weeks we've been hearing more and more about the script-writing woes going on behind the scenes of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars sequel. Luckily, it now seems like a script has finally been cobbled together for Episode VII.Abrams told The Wrap that the new script, written by himself and Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi scribe Lawrence Kasdan, is complete and ready to begin filming. The early months of Star Wars: Episode VII certainly haven't been without a measure of controversy. Firstly, Toy Story 3 and Little Miss Sunshine writer Michael Arndt was kicked off the project when his approach for Episode VII failed to impress Abrams. It seemed the two creatives just couldn't come to an agreement about the direction of the next addition in the Star Wars saga. Reportedly, Arndt preferred a new chapter of the franchise which placed Han, Leia and Luke's kids at the forefront, while Abrams wanted the original trio to have one last hurrah on the big screen. However, even before Arndt left the movie, the team were already having trouble sticking to Disney's 2015 release deadline. Originally, Abrams and the writers petitioned Disney to push back the release of Star Wars: Episode VII to 2016. Although Disney ultimately refused, they did agree to postpone release until mid-December as opposed to the originally stated May 2015 release. So what does this all mean? Well, obviously Star Wars: Episode VII is too strong a beast to ever be in any kind of critical danger. It certainly will be delivered at some point. Having said that, the production does sound rather disorganized and volatile. While Disney's insistence for a 2015 release (despite the pleas of the actual director) doesn't exactly sound like a working environment conducive to movie-making gold. What do you think? Has the news of the Star Wars: Episode VII's pre-production got you concerned, or do you have faith in Abrams and co?

It was pretty dumb of Disney to say an unwritten movie would be done and in theaters by May 2015. Glad to see they are finished with the script and moving forward with filming soon. Really glad they are going to give the trio a big sendoff and then focus on the next generation. Really hope JJ can bring back a sense of realism to the movies. All that fake CGI really took me out of the movie experience. They need to use models and blow em up again.

Fucking nice! If that is in any way connected to or going to be used in the upcoming films, then that's got me excited.

Kalyx triaD 01-29-2014 08:07 PM

It's a just a fan short, but a badass one. There's tons of fan choreographed lightsaber duels on YT; some not as cool, and others should be in a movie. It helps that saber effects have gotten easier for techies.

Kalyx triaD 02-19-2014 06:41 PM

That new Rebels cartoon looks like it's gonna work out. I'm getting excited, and at least they allowed Clone Wars to finish.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-19-2014 06:48 PM

I'd like one that doesn't look all cgi. Plus where is Detours? Come on.

Kalyx triaD 02-19-2014 07:03 PM

Detours is more than likely dead, dude.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-19-2014 07:15 PM

Then fuck Disney up the ass with a double sided lightsaber. I will not watch Rebels until Detous is given a release date.

Peter Mayhew, who played the Wookiee Chewbacca in Star Wars: Episodes III – VI, will reprise the role for Star Wars: Episode VII, according to Hollywood Reporter.

Rumors of the casting circulated recently when Mayhew cancelled a planned appearance at Texas’ Comicpalooza “due to filming.” The convention takes place May 23 – 26, and coincides with the recent announcement by Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn that Episode VII is already filming (see “'Star Wars VII' Shooting”). Mayhew has made a career of appearing as the iconic character in TV appearances and making convention appearances, though he also voiced Susha for Dragon Ball GT: A Hero’s Legacy.

Wookiees, according to the the Wookieepedia, The Star Wars Wiki, can live for several centuries. Chewbacca, played by Mayhew, had a brief appearance in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith in the Battle of Kashyyyk, alongside Tarfful and Yoda, and helped Yoda escape the planet. Later he joined up with Han Solo as copilot and smuggler for Star Wars: Episodes IV – VI.

So he's back with the Big Three, likely in passive roles.

When do we get to hear who starring in this new trilogy, me wonder.

That'd be today.

Can't get the page on Starwars.com to load, but the announcement was this:

Same thing I was thinking.

Uh-OH Adam Driver and Oscaar Isaac back together in OUTER...SPACE

Corporate CockSnogger 04-29-2014 05:16 PM

I like Domhnall Gleeson. No idea on most of them.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-29-2014 05:17 PM

That one with the long hair and wonky face better be playing an alien creature of some sort.

I really hope you know Max von Sydow.

Kalyx triaD 04-29-2014 06:05 PM

Lots of little-knowns. That's very good.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-30-2014 03:00 AM

Was there a rumor around that Force ghost Obi-Won might be in it or the sequels but played by McGreggor?

Yeah Ford was the only somewhat known of the main cast from the original movies except for James Earl Jones and Sir Alec Guiness.

Good formula that worked for the first movies. Most of the known cast were older people like Grand Moff Tarken.

Very hype. The Empire lives.

Lock Jaw 08-15-2014 07:54 PM

I wonder if their aim will get any better....

Tom Guycott 08-16-2014 01:18 AM

Let's hope not. Piss poor aiming is a hallmark of any Imperial Stormtrooper. Unless they're slaughtering Jawas in a big, slow moving vehicle, of course.

Besides, if they upped their standards, their numbers would dwindle.

There's a trailer doing the rounds on social media. Is it a fake?

loopydate 11-27-2014 09:10 AM

It is. It's spliced together from video game clips and fan films. It's very impressive and I'll admit to bring fooled up front, but it's been debunked.

They are releasing the new trailer online tomorrow, though, to combat people pirating it in-theater.

Seems weird seeing the Millennium Falcon all CGI and fancy, after pretty much my entire life as knowing the practical/model version they used when filming the original trilogy. Such a weird observation.
