JL8 (Webcomic/Art by Yale)
A recent Q&A revealed that Yale indeed has plans to introduce JL8's version of Aquaman.
Aquaman
Oh man, Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy sitting at the next lunch table.
Clearly Captain Cold and Poison Ivy. *pushes nerd glasses up nose*
Beat me to it. :(
Lol. Pretty excited for season 2.
Who's the kid in the bowtie there then?
Also, as I don't really follow DC, why are there 2 villains who are essentially the exact same?
It would be like Marvel introducing a guy named Magnet Man to fight Captain America. |
Captain Cold pretty much only interacted with The Flash. Ditto with Mr Freeze and Batman, except that the latter duo is more popular.
Quote:
- The Icicle - Mr. Freeze - Captain Cold - Killer Frost Probably some more. |
Also, bowtie guy looks like The Toyman, but I think he is meant to be The Prankster, as seen in:
SPOILER: show |

Yeah, he looks a lot like the Toyman from the DC Animated universe.
can we not refer to "seasons" of comics? seems retarded, like calling an album a "set"
i know there's like "smallville season 11" and "buffy season 8" but they followed directly on from a tv series, so it makes more sense than to just arbitrarily start calling arcs (however lengthy) seasons unless i am missing something and there is some kind of official word on calling this thing a new "season" seems so strange to me though. even "volume" would be better, if we really have to call it something :-\ |
Thank you nerds of the forum for answering my questions.
Greatly appreciated. |
The author of the comic is the one who started using the "season" term.
booooooooooo
i see you are right, he did use it once on the facebook page, but that's it? i think? i'd like to think it was a one-off lapse in judgment |
There is a comic book called "Morning Glories" that uses "seasons". Just started Season 2 or something.
Supposed to be a good series. |
Yes Yale referred to the last series as a 'season' and calls this one season two. In any case it comes off as semantics.
Captain Cold is so much more awesome than mr. Freeze.
Said no one but fignuts |

Yale can call it what the fuck ever he wants. Just don't stop making this strip.
Love how there wasn't one single word uttered, and that strip is enjoyable. |

Booster Gold & Blue Beetle
Holy shit!
Why is that a holy shit moment exactly?
Fan-favorite characters.
Diana using her bracelets plus sudden intro of Booster Gold? I dunno, it was enough of a "holy shit" moment for me.
Have to agree with VSG. Booster Gold and Blue Beetle? And it's Ted. That is awesome.
Same with Diana using her bracelets to block the spitballs. So awesome! |
Oh...my....agod....APACHE CHIEF IS IN THE BACKGROUND!
Was wondering if that was supposed to be Apache Chief in the background. Wonder if the other person is supposed to be someone as well. Could be Vixen if that is a supposed to be a female.
Could be a crossover and be Jubilee (*ducks*)
Or, it could be a man.
Also, am I to believe that Power Girl is only just noticing that Diana is wearing her bracelets at lunch time?! WASSUP WIT DAT?!
Maybe she sat with Batman the whole morning session- did you consider that, Sherlock?

Kids...
But I'm racking my brain trying to figure out the movie they were talking about. Knowing Yale it's some kind of cult hit. |

I figured it was a Marvel movie, but couldn't figure which one.
Even at age 40 I still catch myself doing that from time to time.
I like how the past few haven't been a part of any sort of "story". Just kids being kids for the most part.
The belt
Jesus Christ, this comic is MINT
Soon....
Clark's being nice letting them catch a few.
Next strip is probably going to be the flash zipping around catching all the flies
Don't think he's there.
He is EVERYWHERE
Prankster here makes me think of a non-blonde Richie Rich, and Jok.. uh, Red Hood looks like Jay chillin' without Silent Bob.
Pretty sure that's Toyman.
JLB8
That's totally what I would also do if I had the ring.
The books on the table... "Aviation" and "Aircraft of War". Love it.
Hal just did not gaf
Took me awhile to understand what was going on. Thought Clark was flying off due to some "revelation" about the dudes in mustaches at first.
Wait, did something hit Clark in the last to 1 panel? Why did he push the little kid so hard?
He wasn't paying attention because of his conversation with Diana. As a result, he didn't realise how hard he pushed the little girl until he was whacked by the empty swing.
It looks like something hit him. At first I thought it was Diana who hit him the back, but after further review it appears we have a mystery shooter.
No, that's just the swing hitting him.
That makes much more sense.

This is still pretty damn dangerous. I would flip if I was the parent of any of those kids. |
Well yeah but Hal's there to catch the kids so it's ok.

It's almost like he read my post and decided to say OH REALLY? |
Ahahahaha. Really enjoying these one-shot jokes after that long storyline. This is perhaps the best one yet.
Trying to figure out what Superman is talking about...... Harry Potter?
I don't know.
Yale said he will start a new story arc after a couple more one-shot gags. |
Pretty sure he's talking about the land of make-believe from Mister Rogers.
Nowhere Man knows what's up.
Yeppers...Mr. Rogers.
Mr. Roger's Neighborhood I believe.
Diana totally used her powers to deflect spitballs!
>>> Armor/Amazonian Martial Arts
Is that the first we've seen of boy wonder?
Nah he did a special piece with him before. But Yale doesn't want him in the series.
Seems kinda weird anyhow. Like considering the age disparity, Boy Wonder there should be in a onsie and a diaper.
oh man, told
When I read these, I picture kid voices from all the characters. Except J'onn. I still hear Carl Lumbly.
I imagine a black kid's voice for him.
Martha and Alfred getting their flirt on.
The placement of the window on the left side of the house on the right makes that Amazon look like she just spotted Solid Snake.
So where's PG's parents?
Isn't the woman in the purple sweater supposed to be her mom?
