Room 101 - PPVs or TV show episodes

So, for this week's podcast we're doing our third show based off the old Room 101 television show, where we're looking for you to submit one nomination for a Pay-Per-View or episode of wrestling television from any point in time that you personally wish to be banished to oblivion for good, and why you want it in Room 101.

You can be as flexible with the nomination as you like - it can be for one thing that happened that pissed you off, it can be an entire show of garbage, or it can be a show that represents a part of your specific personal fandom you'd rather forget. Of course, part of the argument will be around the butterfly effect of what happens if your nomination never existed, so your explanation will be key in whether or not the panel agrees to banish your suggestion to Room 101.

As always, the best nominations will be read and you'll be credited accordingly. So what show annoyed you personally enough to go into Room 101 and why?

EDIT - The Room 101 - PPVs and TV Shows podcast, featuring many of your contributions, is now available at the following link: https://mcdn.podbean.com/mf/download...d_TV_Shows.mp3

I jacked off to Alexa Bliss's survivor series look, 15 times in the last 12 hours.

Glad you're doing the show this week. I've been missing the weekly podcasts. You guys can't help being busy and all that, but as a selfish consumer it's good to have at least two coming up in a row. At least the monthly casts will mean we'll be spoiled if they become more frequently. Hot shot that motherfucker.

This is such a tricky question that I've given some thought to all week. It's easy to just throw out a December to Dismember and call it a day, but what does that change? ECW was still a reanimated corpse (and featured reanimated corpses -- Zombie, Bob Holly, Sandman) and Heyman was still on his final straw, and 2006 still sucked so bad you guys had to re-book it (Go, Shelton!).

Whenever you do TV episode episodes, I get a bit lost, because a lot of the TV just washes over me, and I've gone back and watched a lot of the more historically important stuff in retrospect, so my thinking on it is purely hypothetical. That's why I'm going with an episode that seemed big to me at the time, but actually marked the beginning of the end:

The March 26, 2001 Raw/Nitro simulcast. It was great seeing Vince the happiest he's ever looked outside a tanning salon, but in past podcasts where you've analyzed the Invasion angle, I think it was Kieran who suggested the angle was kind of dead as soon as you had Shane McMahon be the one who bought the company. It became just another McMahon angle. I'm inclined to agree, because even though I was not privy to the things fans are to now, I knew what I was watching in regards to the Invasion just wasn't good, and it all had this WWF McMahon storyline taint.

Maybe if you scrap that script and take a different angle from the start, the butterfly effect will see things click more into place, and everything turns out a little bit differently? I mean, you'd still have Taker up there acting like a right cunt, but if the "Shane buys WCW" angle is dropped at the start, maybe it's because they're avoiding doing a McMahon angle, which at least starts things off on the right foot.

Superbrawl 2000, although it's so bad that it's hilarious.

Tank Abbott vs Big Al in a jacket on a pole match where Tank threatens to cut Big Al's fucking head off.

Big T vs Booker T in a match over the letter T

Hogan vs The Total Package in an awful match.

3 Count vs Norman Smiley. They could have at least sang before the match.

Kiss Demon vs The Wall in a "Special Main Event"

This PPV has a special place in hell. It's Vince Russo's opus.

I feel like watching this show on loop should be punishment for the next wrestler found guilty at an SCG Trial.

I was gonna say the Heroes of Wrestling, but this is worse. A multi-million dollar company putting this together

Mr. Nerfect 11-19-2018 06:44 PM

Well, that Kiss Demon did allegedly cost half-a-million dollars, so it's not like they didn't try and throw money at this thing.

ECW on Sci-fi, Jan 22nd 2008:

First off you had Chavo win the ECW title off of CM Punk.... why?

But more importantly you had the boring wrestler Snoreton Boredjamin (Shelton Benjamin) beat both Kane AND Tommy Dreamer in a battle royal.

Tragically we would lose The Great Khali squashing Colin Delany but some sacrifices have to be made.

Over the Edge ‘99 anyone?

Stop using your powers of time-travel for good.

#1-norm-fan 11-20-2018 06:41 PM

If we're not using this power for the easy, virtuous purpose to save lives...

I'm actually having trouble thinking of a certain show that would change the course of history enough to matter.

There's that Raw in England WWE did in '96 that got the lowest rating ever (until recently) and apparently caused Vince to shake things up and let Russo book. I'd like that not to happen. If we never got the hotshotting that came after that then wrestling wouldn't have burned out so fast. So maybe that.

All WCW PPV's from 2000 were awful. Jeff JArret doesn't belong anywhere near main event.

It did indeed, and a good bit of conversation. It deserved attention....

Bad News Gertner 12-03-2018 06:00 PM

Just listened lol, I love Karl's disgust with the show

Savio 12-03-2018 07:38 PM

I fear Kieran has become immune to Tommy Dreamer comments.

Mr. Nerfect 12-10-2018 06:32 PM

Good stuff, as always.

I've disconnected myself from social media over Christmas so my family can't find me, but as far as the "G" in G. John Chase goes: We all thought it stood for "Gareth," but it turns out it stands for Gene when there is a twist and Chase's father isn't Arn.
