Now if Tony can get the UK to air on Thursday the world will be mostly happy. Australia is left out too right?

My ticket showed up yesterday and I got super excited

If this was WWE, the rollup or school boy would be in the god tier for finishers and nothing else coming close to it.

Is anybody watching this countdown to dynamite show?

This is the most in and out of kayfabe show I've ever seen.

Tried to get a " I was there" shirt at All Out but by the time I got to go buy one they were all out. Had to settle for a Young Bucks shirt.

Didn't feel like waiting in line early on and went during the Japanese women's match.

With Kylie Rae returning to wrestling and working for Impact, it's brought back questions as to why she really left AEW after the company said she left for "personal reasons".

Apparently non-disclosures were signed, so it'll never go any further than he said, she said.

However the hot internet rumor going around is that Brandi effectively bullied her out of the company and that Meltzer/Alvarez are actively trying to help cover it up because they simply took AEW's excuse at face value and won't pursue it any further.

Feel if that was the case, something actually juicy would have been leaked or hinted to by now considering Ryan Satin and others have been digging a lot.

If I had to guess, she probably had a Nathan Jones like moment where she ended up not feeling comfortable with her new high profile role and spotlight and wanted to take a step back on her career.

There is a lot about AEW to legitimately complain about, but Cody is not one of them. From the get go Cody has been the level headed one who has been a great face of the company. The other EVPs seem like wrestlers playing executives, but Cody has been a true pro.

If AEW was modeled on Cody's image instead of the goofy bingo hall and video game cosplaying stuff that only appeals to a small portion of the audience, they would be far better off in my honest opinion.

Abit surprised they went away from the Sears Center to the slightly smaller Wintrust Arena.

Sadly going to have to agree with XRod.

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-21-2019 10:47 AM

Cody and Jericho get it. Bucks and Kenny are so far up their own asses it’s ridiculous.

Bad News Gertner 12-21-2019 10:55 AM

They are marketing themselves to a niche audience which is never going to grow because it's not attracting the Casuals.

I've heard talk about then trying to court the "Lapsed Fan".
The lapsed fan was a fan of guys like Stone Cold doing beer baths, the Rock's catchphrases and women being half naked. Not "workrate"

Cody definitely gets it, but the rest not so much

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-21-2019 11:09 AM

You can still have good work rate tv matches too. They just don’t have to be 45 minute masturbation exhibitions. Tv matches should be 10 minutes tops unless it’s something special

Bad News Gertner 12-21-2019 12:30 PM

But that's not what those types of fans want. They want "Attitude Era".

Wrestling Fans really are fickle. Watched some nxt clips on YT...

No one is calling out how ridiculous Finn Balor knocking over fans at ringside looked on NXT or how ridiculous it was for Rhea to escape from Shayna's submission & be 100% recovered in seconds, this week they're focused on AEW.

Emperor Smeat 12-21-2019 04:57 PM

If AEW was more in Cody's image, it would come off as just being another WWE which is what viewers have been going away from in droves. Its also why TNA/Impact always struggled to grow their viewership because they came off as just being a poor man's WWE.

AEW's biggest strength right now is the variety feel to it in regards to there not being an "AEW style." On the downside that also has led to them not having a real unifying vision yet since they are still in a company and star building mode and NXT can easily counter them in the work-rate department.

WWE also changing NXT a lot since it moved to the USA Network is another big issue. Them constantly tossing out title matches and TakeOver quality matches being the biggest changes since before those used to be a lot more rare and the main focus towards slow builds for feuds and star development.

Triple A 12-21-2019 05:02 PM

Dave Meltzer "ripped Kris Statlander a new asshole," calling the "alien" gimmick "embarrassing" and stuff...

Seems like a huge overreaction... She was just basically acting like a "strange" person who didn't talk... idk what the big deal is...

Feel like the gimmick makes me way more interested in her because before I thought she was just some generic wrestler... I think she might be my fav woman wrestler in AEW now.

Damian Rey 2.0 12-21-2019 07:05 PM

I personallylove her gimmick. It makes her different and she stands out because of it. She also has a sweet finisher.

slik 12-21-2019 07:07 PM

I prefer her Alien Gimmick to Brandi's G-Rated HooDoo schtick

NXT still has the same amount of "developmental" matches. It's just the show is twice as long now, and the extra hour is filled with marquee matches.

That is not an NXT problem though, that is all of wrestling since the 90's.

Something happened behind the scenes, a falling out or whatnot, because Dave went from being the biggest AEW hypeman to pulling a 180 and being overly critical towards AEW the last 2 weeks.

There is no reason to hate a new talent having an alien gimmick when this is the same company that has a guy with a dinosaur gimmick. I mean for real??? An alien wrestler is no more ridiculous than a dinosaur wrestler.

Meltzer going after Kris that hard over her gimmick is either him being an incredible hypocrite or a real sexist bastard.

They've also been picking up more of WWE (and WCW to a degree) bad habits when it comes to their booking and layout of shows.

It hasn't really hurt them due to having years worth of goodwill built up with wrestling fans and leaning a lot on workrate to mask those issues. AEW doesn't have the first and they are limited with the second which is why wrestling fans have become more unforgiving and fickle towards them.

Also the growing feeling online that NXT has become what people thought AEW was going to be and AEW not being like NJPW or Mid-South almost right from the gate.

Oh Smeat, come on, this is simply not the truth. Cody is way more oldschool NWA than anything. Nothing he does or has done since the inception of AEW has been WWE light.

Not a good argument at all.

That's basically been the main recurring online complaint about Cody and his spotlight in AEW.

Its a double edge-sword since his NWA-like stuff has helped make the show feel different and been among the best parts of AEW but at the same time its also where the constant "Triple H" comparisons have been made and people feeling his stuff comes off more like WWE but handled better than what AEW was promoting and has been as a company.

AEW's early success wasn't because of Cody's vision of the company but because they promised to treat wrestling better than WWE has and also bring in a mix of styles than have a single defining style. The sports-like focus being one of those mix of styles that people ended up assuming it meant they were going to lean heavily towards the NJPW way of things.

Triple A 12-21-2019 11:22 PM

I am very glad that AEW is not like NXT, which basically seems like "just matches" with hardly any interesting angles imo...

Me too. NXT is constant kick-outs of everything. Oddly enough, so much of the stuff people bitch about The Young Bucks doing a ton of NXT wrestlers do as well.
