COVID-19 outbreak in Florida - Multiple WWE employees test positive
Multiple people in WWE test positive for COVID-19 per Ryan Satin, WWE banning crowds in the audience again as a result, Jon Moxley pulled from Dynamite by AEW due to potential COVID contact and Florida had over 5,000 new cases yesterday as the NBA and MLS get ready to start.
Welp. |
To quote Jon Taffer:
"SHUT IT DOWN!" |
Wonder how things would have been for wrestling had Linda McMahon's Super PAC never sent that huge sum of money to Florida and its governor.
Surprised both AEW and WWE lasted as long as they did in Florida before getting rocked with coronavirus cases and scares. UFC barely lasted for a few weeks when it came to them triggering their first cases. |

Mox could only account for like 40 thousand of those fans anyway.
|
WWE might have about 2 dozen people who tested positive for COVID-19....
I asked someone who knows some people who work at WWE and lives in CT and that's what me told he heard, but we'll see... |

Trying to fight the schadenfreude since I don't want people on the roster to be sick or at risk to any adverse consequences. V unfortunate but Vince deserves to look stupid over this.
|
Another person just told me they heard Riddle and Thatcher are among the positive tests, but we'll see

I hope Ric Flair is rona free, made me super nervous to see him trotted out during these times
|
I was genuinely surprised to see Flair. That seemed weirdly reckless. This is not good and doesn't bode well for opening events anytime soon.
|
I know that networks are paying for original content but given the circumstances neither USA, FOX, nor TNT have a leg to stand on if the companies decided to air archive content for a week or two while they find a venue to tape at in a less outbreak-ridden state.
These companies don’t need to be taking these risks. It’s irresponsible for everybody. |
Honestly, just air reruns until Extreme Rules
WWE could put on a Best of Monday Night RAW series the next few weeks and the ratings would be nearly the same. |
Rumor going around the net is that this outbreak was caused by WWE being a bit reckless with their testing.
They didn't isolate people when they were doing tests and instead had everyone huddled around in one area before test results were known. |
You know that they'll find a way to blame the talent instead of taking accountability. The Vince playbook to a tee.
|
Just give me some of those Attitude Era raws. Would probably get a bigger rating than what shows are giving now.
|
My thing with Cornette is he pretty much said "if you close your business or go into rehab to treat 'something else' that could cause the abuse, you're admitting guilt."
To me, that sounds like a guy telling you his playbook. Act like it's business as usual and that the claims are utterly preposterous so that you sound credible. Again, the claims could be complete nonsense and a way to fuck over Cornette, you never know. But just because he's brushing them off and acting confident he couldn't have done anything questionable doesn't mean shit. Anyway, I don't see this getting all that far other than to make the people who hate Cornette hate him that much more while emboldening "the cult." Really difficult to nail someone for this, and Cornette already doesn't work for anyone. |

Sapp confirmed he also heard the number of positive tests is high.

This virus is such a bizarre one. It's seems so incredibly contagious, but they still have no idea of what the actual symptomatic infection rates are. Early estimates were about 15-20% of people have any kind of symptoms at all. It seems with how contagious it is that logically there are likely way more people infected that do not show symptoms.
|
Even worse is supposedly the virus can also infect those who already had and recovered from it meaning there might not be any real immunity to it.
Would make the idea of herd immunity almost impossible if true. That's been one of the talking points from those who are against wearing masks and shutdowns since they rather have everyone get sick to build up that immunity and get this whole thing over with as soon as possible. |
WWE really should have aired archived footage. The ratings would probably be higher, but not only that, it would have refreshed the product greatly when they got back. The issue is probably the rating of the content.

Whelp Jon Moxley's match at Fyter Fest might be in jeopardy.
Renee Young revealed she was one of the people who tested positive in WWE. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Man. What a few days. My show gets cancelled and I get Covid. Wear your masks and wash your hands. Stay safe, everyone ❤️</p>— Renee Young (@ReneeYoungWWE) <a href="https://twitter.com/ReneeYoungWWE/status/1275990425359118336?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 25, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
Damn
|
COVID do not harm Renee you son of a bitch
|
Damn.... she shoulda stayed in Canada....
|
Who knows when Renee was exposed to the virus, but she did an in-ring segment with AJ Styles in which most of the SmackDown roster was surrounding the ring. So yeah, that's not great.
|
flat earther AJ probably thinks COVID is a big work
|
No way mox will be allowed to wrestle cage after being exposed to renee
|
cage has a jinx on him all the bad luck he had in impact, now he won't be able to face mox for awhile.

save that match for the big all in ppv anyway let taz and cage go off till then.

WWE so desperate to stop AEW’s progress they purposefully create a scenario in which the AEW Champion’s wife gets COVID-19. I didn’t think Vince could stoop to such depths. :nono:
