Napoleon Dynamite

1 Attachment(s)
UPDATE: Find out when it's playing near you: http://www2.foxsearchlight.com/napol...leasesched.pdf

Just saw this tonight. So fucking great.

The funniest movie I have seen in a while. I was ROFL like the entire way through. Classic shit.

Basically, it's about this guy, Napoleon Dynamite, high school student and basically a huge geek. He lives with his grandma and 32 year old brother who is always on chat rooms looking for chicks, and he has a Mexican friend named Pedro who is a new student and wants to win student body president from popular girl Summer (who is played by Hilary Duff's older sister).

It is fucking great. The guy who plays Napoleon is classic. The entire theater was cracking up throughout the whole movie and everyone started clapping at the end (idiots, but still).

It's only playing in NY and LA right now, but hopefully it will spread around some more because it is funny ass shit. If not, definitely get it on video. I will be buying a copy for myself.

If you can't watch it, check out the trailer here, since it is good shit on its own: http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_se..._dynamite.html

DegenerationY 06-13-2004 07:06 AM

Yeah i've been hearing a lot about it. It better play in SF, because I really want to see it.

Looks pretty classic.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-13-2004 11:50 AM

there was a preview for it before Saved. It looks great

YOUR Hero 06-13-2004 03:56 PM

It's a story about Triple A himself.

Triple A 06-13-2004 10:33 PM

That's right.

Triple A 06-17-2004 05:24 AM

Just saw it a second time today. I could watch it over and over and never get tird of it. I love this movie.

Triple A 06-17-2004 05:29 AM

Fuck I wish everyone could see this movie. Gonna be a definite cult classic.

MrMeJW 06-17-2004 04:03 PM

It doesn't have a great rating on IMDB but I will check it out when it comes to Boston.

Triple A 06-17-2004 05:03 PM

It doesn't have a great rating because the asshole "top 1000 voters" rated it badly probably because they are huge geeks. Out of the normal votes, it says the average is like 8.0, but when they factor in the 2.6 rating by the 23 top 1000 voters, it brings it down. Assholes.

Check how many people rated it a 1. They obviously voted without seeing the movie.

#1-norm-fan 06-19-2004 06:44 AM

A film student friend of mine from LA was raving about this today. He's usually good at picking out funny movies. If it doesn't come out in the theater here (probably won't) then I'll have to figure out another way of seeing it.

#1-norm-fan 06-19-2004 06:49 AM

lol. Diedrich Bader is in it.

Triple A 06-19-2004 06:57 AM

Yeah he is great. He plays a guy named Rex who runs his own fitness place, Rex Kwan Do.

So many classic lines in the movie. Like the most quotable movie of all time. It seriously is like a laugh (or 3 or 4) per minute. Nonstop. Probably the funniest movie I have ever seen.

sucafrutpi 06-19-2004 12:38 PM

the preview looked kinda lame :-/

King TIL 06-19-2004 04:19 PM

I don't know, Roger Ebert only gave it 1.5 stars. It must be pretty bad.

He gave Old School 1 star.

He's no good with comedies.

Triple A 06-19-2004 05:58 PM

It's better to be no good with one genre than no good with 50% of every movie in general.

Hollywood Red 06-23-2004 02:46 AM

I see the commercial all the time... the scene where he's drawing and the girl asks what it is and he says "It's a Liger... it's pretty much my favourite animal..." cracks me up cuz I've overheard pretty much the same line before followed by a big geek rant about some made-up animal.

I went to school with guys like this and it's pure comedy in an awful way that I'm sure has reserved me a place in Hell.

Triple A 06-27-2004 06:10 AM

Whooooo, submitted a bunch of quotes to IMDb and they added them. No credit though, assholes.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374900/quotes

Also, it is gonna open "nationwide" some time in July, so EVERYONE GET READY. It's already spreading all over the place. It only opened in two theaters in NYC its opening week, and like four in LA. Now it's playing in a bunch of theaters around here, so good stuff.

MoRcHeEbA 06-27-2004 06:43 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Uncle Rico: So what do you think?
Kip: It's pretty cool, I guess.
Uncle Rico: Ohhhh, man I wish I could go back in time. I'd take state.
Napoleon Dynamite: This is pretty much the worst video ever made.
Kip: Napoleon, like anyone can even know that.
Uncle Rico: You know what, Napoleon? You can leave.
Napoleon Dynamite: You guys are retarded!

LOL

MoRcHeEbA 06-27-2004 06:45 PM

I tried to download it but couldn't find it anywhere :(

OssMan 06-30-2004 12:10 AM

gonna go see it tommorow.

Triple A 06-30-2004 12:12 AM

Triple A 06-30-2004 12:12 AM

The guy who plays Napoleon is gonna be on Letterman tonight.

Dragon 06-30-2004 01:04 AM

I will probably download it.

Dragon 07-01-2004 12:56 AM

I dunno, I guess I won't be downloading it. I don't think suprnova has it.

Triple A 07-01-2004 12:58 AM

It's not available to download anywhere. Still mad rare.

Also, he is on Letterman TONIGHT.

el fregadero 07-01-2004 02:57 AM

I watched him on Letterman and I really want to see the movie, but it's not showing anywhere in my state or even the surronding states (I don't think).

Triple A 07-01-2004 03:13 AM

It is gonna be playing in way more places starting this month. Don't worry.

el fregadero 07-01-2004 03:15 AM

It's jazz baby.

OssMan 07-02-2004 06:45 PM

K I SHOULD BE SEEING IT TODAY. But my brother has the car/money so I might be seeing Fahrenheit 9/11 :-\ I mean I wanna see it and all but this is my first priority.

Joeleosis 07-03-2004 04:40 AM

"yesssssssss"

ROFL I love this movie too much

Where did you see it???

#1-norm-fan 07-03-2004 06:16 AM

I may drive down to Berkley on the 18th and see it.

Triple A 07-03-2004 06:22 AM

It's already playing in Berkley. That says June 18.

I think that's where Joel said he saw it.

DaveWadding 07-03-2004 08:34 AM

came out yesterday here..in the little arthaus (5 screen) theatre across town that shows all the awesome movies.

OssMan 07-03-2004 11:50 PM

I like your sleeves.

Triple A 07-04-2004 12:22 AM

DID YOU SEE IT, ASSMAN?

OssMan 07-04-2004 12:34 AM

yeah, it was quite ROFL

VOTE FOR PEDRO

#1-norm-fan 07-04-2004 02:17 AM

I was watching this summer movie preview show today. They were showing like 1-2 minute clips of all these summer movies but then they only showed a 10 second thing from Napoleon Dynamite. It was the part where he tried to ride the bike over the ramp and it collapsed.

OssMan 07-04-2004 02:18 AM

I missed like the first 15 minutes :-\

I am going to see it again at least like 34 times though so no worries.

Joeleosis 07-04-2004 06:57 AM

Yeah I saw it in Berkeley, awesome theatre on off of Shattuck. All old style theatre'esque. I wanna see it again

Triple A 07-09-2004 03:50 AM

http://www2.foxsearchlight.com/napol.../epk/index.php

CHECK OUT SOME GOOD LENGTH VIDEO CLIPS FROM THE MOVIE.

#1-norm-fan 07-09-2004 04:59 AM

Woah, I just noticed it's only rated PG. Crazy.

Triple A 07-09-2004 05:00 AM

Yeah, there is like no "adult" material at all. No cursing either. He says "gosh" and "heck" and "freakin" and "flippin" a lot. The lead actor is a mormon so isn't allowed to curse or something.

#1-norm-fan 07-09-2004 05:01 AM

lol

Gonzo 07-09-2004 03:08 PM

So, I am sitting in the food court at the mall, eating some Arby's right? Okay, I am just looking around, enjoying my sandwich and curly fries, I look over towards the cinema. "Coming Soon" Napoleon Dynamite!! poster. Seeing it most definitely now.

Triple A 07-11-2004 06:33 AM

SO WHEN ARE YOU SEEING IT, #1-WWF-FAN

The Outlaw 07-11-2004 04:07 PM

I tried to find it last night, guess Kazaa still doesn't have it. :(

The Mask 07-11-2004 04:48 PM

Goddamnit, it isn't even coming out over here.

Triple A 07-11-2004 10:38 PM

Saw it again 2niiiiiiite.

DegenerationY 07-11-2004 11:24 PM

It's been out for a while in SF. I just got paid, so i'll see it this week before I go to Europe :D

#1-norm-fan 07-26-2004 06:37 AM

Just got back from seeing it in Sacramento. It was funny. Not one of the funniest movies I've ever seen... but pretty funny.

#1-norm-fan 07-26-2004 06:37 AM

Also, there's an extra scene in it apparently that wasn't in it when it was first released. Don't know what scene it was though.

Triple A 07-26-2004 04:55 PM

Suck my dick, #1-wwf-fan.

Also, the extra scene should have been some wedding scene at the end. What happens?

#1-norm-fan 07-26-2004 06:36 PM

Fuck. Probably after the credits. I missed it. It was like 12:30 and my friend was complaining that he wanted to start heading home cause he had to work in the morning. Fucking pussy.

And I said it was funny. BACK OFF.

The characters were funny and well written and all. The guy that played Napoleon was quite good. It was no Anchorman though.

Vega 07-26-2004 08:32 PM

Sounds good. I'll have to see/rent it.

Smitty 07-27-2004 01:18 AM

I saw it tonight, pretty funny. The action figure on fishing wire is the greatest scene ever. If Anchorman wasn't out, this would be my favorite comedy of the year so far.

The extra scene is so great, it sucks if you missed it. Napoleon comes riding in on a horse, and it had me cracking up. His brother sings a song at his wedding, which is a good laugh too.

Triple A 07-27-2004 01:49 PM

It was like 9825x funnier than Anchorman.

I don't even know who you are anymore

Triple A 07-27-2004 05:39 PM

What the hell are you talking about. Anchorman "had its moments" at best. I wasn't ROFL through the whole thing like I was during Napoleon Dynamite. Anchorman was funny, yeah, but not hilarious.

I feel the same way, only opposite.

#1-norm-fan 07-27-2004 05:51 PM

Yeah.... Anchorman was pretty ROFL every single second.

For me as well. :y:

deathtrap 07-28-2004 12:56 PM

Is it coming out in England?

Triple A 07-28-2004 04:29 PM

I dunno.

Supreme Olajuwon 07-28-2004 09:35 PM

gonna see it TONIGHT

Supreme Olajuwon 07-29-2004 01:58 AM

I saw it TONIGHT. OMG funniest movie I've seen in like ever. I thought it was funnier than Anchorman. Anchorman had like parts where nothing funny is happening and then something really really ROFL happens and its funny but this had me laughing the whole time.

I caught you a delicious bass

Triple A 07-29-2004 02:11 AM

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I love Supreme.

Vega 07-29-2004 03:38 AM

Just saw a comercial for it. Looks OK, I think they did a shitty job on the preview though. I still have high hopes.

Jerichoholic 07-30-2004 01:29 AM

Napoleon Dynamite wins

Eternalone79 07-30-2004 09:38 AM

I thought it fucking sucked 2 big monkey balls...possibly the biggest waste of my money ever!!!

Gertner 07-30-2004 10:34 AM

They still haven't released it in my city :(

OssMan 07-31-2004 12:57 AM

SAW IT AGAIN

el fregadero 07-31-2004 02:59 AM

I still really want to see this. I got pumped when the commercials said "showing everywhere July 23", only to find that it wasn't showing anywhere near me.

Jerichoholic 08-01-2004 03:16 AM

Yeah, Just saw it a second time too.

Triple A 08-01-2004 05:17 AM

#1-norm-fan 08-01-2004 05:39 AM

I may or may not go see it again tomorrow night with some more people. It was actually a pretty easy hour long drive when I saw it the first time and the theater was pretty nice.

Triple A 08-01-2004 05:44 AM

Yeah I wanna see it for the fourth time to see the new scene.

Boomer 08-01-2004 10:09 AM

Saw it. Definitely gonna be a cult classic. Too bad I had to drive 30 minutes to go see it. What the hell is a movie doing in a town smaller than mine?

The Miz 08-01-2004 05:11 PM

This is seriously like the funniest movie ever.

Triple A 08-01-2004 05:13 PM

Whooooo

Triple A 08-02-2004 05:23 AM

NEWSFLASH: I AM DOWNLOADING IT FROM IRC RIGHT NOW.

Bunch of them are on the Internet. Download that shit and watch it.

http://www.packetnews.com/search.php?kw=dynamite

Jerichoholic 08-02-2004 05:16 PM

This movie is making mad money considering it's production budget.

The Outlaw 08-04-2004 03:47 AM

WHy is mIRC asking me to register? :S

el fregadero 08-04-2004 03:50 AM

Outlaw, download it so I can get it from you. I can't figure that site out.

#1-norm-fan 08-04-2004 05:17 AM

The guy who played Napoleon was also in a short film called "Peluca".

Where can you get short films from. This upsets me. There are a few short films I need to see.

#1-norm-fan 08-04-2004 05:17 AM

Also, he was on The View a couple weeks ago

Peluca is the short film that Napoleon Dynamite is based on. It's basically the same exact thing. Maybe it will be included on the DVD.

This is how it works.

Download and install mIRC.

Then go to packetnews.com and search. After you find what you want, click the # of the "pack" you want. Like click #3 or #2 or whatever. It will automatically open mIRC and will ask you if you want to connect to a new server or whatever. Choose that. A new chat room window will open up. Press ctrl+V and it will automatically paste the code you need to enter to start the download.

Then, the download should start. If it doesn't, just try a different link from packetnews. Sometimes they are gay.

Also, you might need to set your mIRC to NOT ignore file sends in the "DCC" options in it. You can find it yourself. Too lazy to explain now.

The Outlaw 08-04-2004 02:54 PM

Woooo I started the download last night

ANd at 12 today it started. Long wait.

It should be done in 30 minutes or so woooooo

So pumped up right now

Triple A 08-04-2004 06:27 PM

The downloaded version is really shitty. They cut off like the first five minutes and they cut off the very end before the credits.

The Outlaw 08-04-2004 08:19 PM

What

This thing is being shaky. I had 114 MB downloaded and it went slowwwww, so the guy cut it off. Now Im 10th in line.

el fregadero 08-05-2004 02:53 AM

That mIRC thing makes no sense at all.

Triple A 08-05-2004 02:54 AM

You are a fucking idiot. I explained it as simple as I can. I don't get how you don't understand it.

el fregadero 08-05-2004 02:57 AM

I think it was that DCC ignore thing messing it up. :o

Triple A 08-05-2004 03:24 AM

Go into your options, then click on the DCC thing, and then set it to NOT ignore files.

Triple A 08-05-2004 03:24 AM

Then start over.
