Well yeah Vince can actually implement his way and Corny has always been more of a persuader. He's more of a historian than anything. They're both stubborn in their ways though is more of my point.

I get what you mean, but as long as things make sense, Cornette is actually quite liberally minded wrestling-wise. He's seen more in guys that Vince, Bruce Prichard, Kevin Dunn, etc. have just thrown to the side. He's just stubborn when it comes to things not making sense.

Ken <s>Kennedy</s> Anderson was in relatively ok shape in TNA, though it was clear that with the lighter schedule and less whip cracking about the gym, he was a bit softer than he was with Titansports.

Here, it was like someone asked him if he'd be interested in coming back to wrestling two weeks before the NWA tapings happened. It was pretty jarring. I didn't notice Aaron looking so bad.

Also, does Trevor Murdoch not age? He looks EXACTLY the same as his WWE stint about, what, 15 years ago? Wonder if he still has the singing voice.

To be fair, Murdoch looked like he does now 15 years ago too.

erickman 11-05-2019 06:01 PM

ready for the real southpaw wrestling

Jordan 11-05-2019 10:07 PM

Best episode yet. Tim Storm and Nick Aldis are brilliant. Thunder Rosa came off really great as well.

Vastardikai 11-05-2019 11:23 PM

The whole thing with Aldis and Tim Storm was amazing. Colt and James Storm was good, and Colt shows a good fire when he's not being as goofy.

Thunder Rosa is my next ex-wife.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-06-2019 08:50 AM

Yeah, I fucking loved the nuance of Storm and Aldis. It was a private conversation caught on camera but they covered their bases so it made sense. Unlike WWE where private conversations are caught on tape with no explanation as to why.

And I loved the Cabana vs Storm match just in a storytelling perspective. You're not a hundred percent sure of everybody's motivation. Why is Aldis seemingly ducking Storm? Why is Eli Drake in love with James Storm?

Also, Ricky what's his name vs Aaron Stephens was fun because Stephens "gets" it. But god is his body is horrific. I'm a firm believer in either being fit or being fat in entertainment. In between is just...I dunno...unsettling. Though, it kind of works with his persona so I'll accept it.

I liked Thunder Rosa's viciousness. Then I liked what's-her-names heelturn (sorry, really bad with remembering names). Was it Marti Belle? She went from a jobber to someone I'm interested in seeing again.

Only downer is I'd be okay with seeing the Dawsons much less. They're overexposed on the show. Not bad by any means but less is more.

Jordan 11-06-2019 09:22 AM

Steven's nude tights had me LOL.

Jordan 11-06-2019 09:24 AM

Thunder Rosa was trending on twitter last night. She made an impact no doubt. Easily a woman who should be swiped by AEW or WWE in the future. But she has an MMA deal with Combate so perhaps she wants to keep her path. She could be THE woman in NWA.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-06-2019 09:27 AM

Yeah, I fucking loved that.

Also, the "SILENCE" thing is very catchphrase-y and WWE-ish. It CAN work and I've chuckled a couple of times. But again, less is more. Use it at the right time and not 15 times during a promo. I'm nitpicking because he's been very good in this new persona. I just love that NWA is the anti-sports entertainment and shit like that is what brings it down.

#1-norm-fan 11-06-2019 09:53 AM

I get the feeling that Aron Stevens, while I like him a lot, has that issue a lot of guys have where he tries to come off as more natural on the mic than he actually is and the “silence” thing is a crutch. I don’t mind it though. Most guys with that issue would just awkwardly power through the promo.

erickman 11-12-2019 06:23 PM

I like a heel marty bell

Vastardikai 11-13-2019 12:09 AM

I'm in love with Thunder Rosa.

Also, that Spinebuster by Trevor Murdoch was SICK.

And Question Mark is great. I wonder who he is. Josephus I know, but this is great.

And huge up for Eli Drake, who the fans tried to hijack, but proved himself unflappable. Gold star from me on that.

Heel, face, whatever. I like LOOKING AT Marti Belle ever since TNA once upon a when even while wearing what I think was supposed to be a slutty majorette outfit...? Doesn't matter. The gimmick was wack, but she looked good in it, so it got a pass from me.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-13-2019 06:46 AM

I'm guessing question mark is Jocephus but I'd need to see a comparison of their movements.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-13-2019 06:47 AM

Either way that was great lol.

I can see this being a Blue Blazer scenario. Everyone "thinks" it's Jocephus, but then Jocephus appears one day with someone else (like Aron Stephens, since he just recently "quit") under the mask so they can appear at the same time whenever anyone... uh... questions it.

Apparently Austin Idol's fake wrestling school commercials shown on Powerrr are now a legit reality.

The Idol commercials on NWA came across as almost a spoof of the movie “Peanut Butter Falcon.” That movie came out a few months ago and got great reviews and it’s got a wrestling theme to it as the main character, who has Down Syndrome, sees an ad on a wrestling tape he has for a wrestling school and it becomes his obsession to break away from the place he is being kept and become a wrestler because the guy running the school was his childhood favorite wrestler

Vastardikai 11-15-2019 05:55 PM

How long before we have Tony Faulk's Waffles and Tire Irons?

Jordan 11-15-2019 06:08 PM

Anyone pre-order the PPV? I thought about it but I've been buying a lot of wrestling content lately... well MLW SuperFight and AEW Full Gear, plus I re-upped my New Japan World Subscription to get on The ROAD TO WRESTLEKINGDOM. I still have my WWE Network subscription canceled.

I will wait to see a main event announced.

erickman 11-19-2019 06:44 PM

kayfabe cocktail this show is great

Jordan 11-19-2019 08:19 PM

NWA took down today's episode after a lot of people were offended when Jim Cornette said "Murdoch is so tough he's the only man I know that could strap a bucket of fried chicken on his back and bike across Ethiopia"... something to that effect.

They took down the episode and have edited it off. I am not sure if it's available yet.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-19-2019 08:21 PM

guess it is better to see it live, I heard the chicken part of the joke but missed the Africa part, good way to get fired cornett.

The worst part was that these episodes were taped weeks ago so either nobody at the NWA bothered to check the final tapes after production was done or legit didn't realize until it actually aired what Cornette said was a bit messed up.

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-19-2019 11:07 PM

Shit. That's bad Corny. I know he meant hungry people but bad choice,

Context should matter though.

Had he said the exactly same thing but instead of chicken said pizza, would it have been anything?

So if we are supposed to be offended by the type of food on Murdoch's back in this fantasy scenario, is it really offensive?

People are calling it racist, but don't seem to care about famine.

Seems out of whack to me.

Vastardikai 11-20-2019 12:04 AM

It's a shame, too.

Because it took away from:

1. The NWA debut of Melina.
2. THUNDER ROSA!
3. A damn good Murdoch vs. Aldis match.
4. The first dive in NWA Powerrr history.
5. And most importantly, the biggest star in the NWA Today. The man that will bring wrestling into the 21st Century.... QUESTION FUCKING MARK!!!!!

Vastardikai 11-20-2019 02:14 AM

I love Corny. I really do. I agree with him on many aspects of modern wrestling.

That said, they should have Tim Storm take Corny's spot as color commentator. I think, or would hope, that Corny would understand that this is bigger than he is. The return of the NWA could get hamstrung by his continued involvement. And that would utterly suck. I'd rather have NWA Powerrr without Cornette than no NWA Powerrr at all.
