Vince totally paid someone off here, watching now

Bad News Gertner 04-16-2020 12:19 AM

He totally greased some pockets

slik 04-16-2020 12:51 AM

I am looking forward to the dino bravo ep, I have always wanted to hear more about that

Bad News Gertner 04-16-2020 07:46 AM

Same here.

ozzman6669 04-16-2020 09:18 AM

They can get a lot of info for what his life was at the time but I wonder what kind of info they can get on the hit, don't think they can get mafia guys to talk and most of the Cotroni family got killed when the Rizzuto and the Hell's Angels took over

Seanny One Ball 04-16-2020 09:47 AM

Mob guys seemingly never shut the fuck up so I'm sure they'll have found somebody suitably shady to talk to.
I was surprised and pretty impressed that they got the cop to appear in the Snuka episode.

There always seems to be 1-2 people on these shows that you would not expect to be on there so who knows

Seanny One Ball 04-16-2020 11:03 AM

Wouldn't put it past them to have Martha for the Owen episode.

Seanny One Ball 04-16-2020 11:05 AM

Cornette and Russo come in to claim sole credit for the accident, each saying the other wouldn't have the foresight to kill a Hart like that.

Holy shit at the Dino Bravo stuff.

I had no idea about ANY Of that. definitely tuning in

Bad News Gertner 04-16-2020 01:04 PM

Yeah it's a pretty crazy story and the one this season where there's not a ton of info out there

Season 3 is going to be a bunch of cripplings and sex offences surely. Maybe a plane crash or two...
All capped off by the steroid doctors.

Seanny One Ball 04-16-2020 01:50 PM

Rikidozan would be a good one actually.

ozzman6669 04-16-2020 10:14 PM

For season 3 maybe some of those could be interesting

Ric Flair plane crash
Art Barr (or every sex offender if there's not enough with Barr)
An episode on Yokozuna's life out of the ring could be good
Story of the territories system and if Vince is really the only reason it died
An episode on all Haku/Meng stories could be a good lighter episode

ozzman6669 04-16-2020 10:46 PM

Or maybe one episode on backyard wrestling, extreme hardcore shit and peoples without any training destroying their lives in front of 8 fans for 5 bucks and a cup of instant noodles !

Bad News Gertner 04-16-2020 11:05 PM

They gotta do one on Chris Adams

Seanny One Ball 04-16-2020 11:10 PM

If they did any real investigation into Haku I worry the bubble would burst and you'd see a lot of talk and a couple of police reports/statements but no really compelling evidence. Even if they could turn up a recipient of one of his beatings none of the jaw snapping, nose biting, eye gouging would look or sound as funny as the stories would have you believe.

Some poor jerk hobbles out with a hole where his eye should be... I dunno man.

Haku is better kept as a legend.

Probably better off legally too.

Seanny One Ball 04-16-2020 11:13 PM

Chris Adams does need one. I've heard a 2-3 hour podcast outlining his crimes and misadventures and it was some entertaining, crazy shit.

They'd have to get Austin.

I'd watch one on Taras Bulba/Bruiser Bedlam too. He was a contract killer and leader of some biker gang I think.

xrodmuc316 04-17-2020 01:12 AM

If be down for an episode on when a bunch of Marines beat up Shawn Michaels.

Seanny One Ball 04-17-2020 12:45 PM

I think a lot of cripplings and molestings will be in season 3.

Bad News Gertner 04-17-2020 02:40 PM

They really gotta do one on Jerry Lawler's arrest in the early 90s

Seanny One Ball 04-17-2020 02:50 PM

I honestly would struggle to watch that.
I know you know, but I doubt a lot of people know the actual full alleged details of that.

It's definitely true.

Bad News Gertner 04-17-2020 02:54 PM

I believe he only got charged with witness tampering at the end of the day. It's been a little bit since I've read about it.

It's pretty fucked. I think she ended up saying she told her bf that she slept with Lawler to get back at her bf. The whole story is fucked.

She was underaged in case some of you haven't heard the story.

Seanny One Ball 04-17-2020 04:44 PM

I think a few arms were twisted

Bad News Gertner 04-17-2020 09:04 PM

Not a huge Conrad Thomson fan, but he does an interview on Jr's feed with one of the guys from DSOTR regarding the Snuka episode and he brings up some really interesting behind the scenes stuff about Tonga Kid

ozzman6669 04-17-2020 10:03 PM

Just watched Bravo's episode preview and sadly I saw Jacques Rougeau. Raymond is pretty reliable on wrestling stories but Jacques is a great Bulshiter !

Can you elaborate?

Bad News Gertner 04-17-2020 11:20 PM

That when Tonga Kid told the story about how he was in the car with Snuka and Nancy the night of the murder how it caught the producers off guard because nobody had heard that before. They asked him about it over and over again to make sure he wasn't confused. They then figured out Tongs Kid wasn't aware of the story Snuka told the police.

Top 3 easily

ozzman6669 04-18-2020 01:16 AM

I really hope they got Rick Martel, I remember 5 or 6 years after the murder he did an interview in french and he really knew a lot of Dino's story after wrestling.

Juicy

Seanny One Ball 04-18-2020 02:33 AM

Gertner is so on top of the news that he posts news from a podcast he doesn't even want to listen to.

Seanny One Ball 04-18-2020 02:38 AM

If anyone has an interest there is a Conrad podcast mixed into his JR podcast feed called Dark Side Of The Podcast where he talks to the producers of Dark Side Of The Ring to further discuss episodes.

It is excellent.

I hope so. From what I've heard Martel is kinda done with wrestling and very rarely does any appearances so he would be a very nice get.

I remember Jacques was on Mooney's podcast and he went on this tangent the WWF forcing The Quebecers to lose the titles at Wrestlemania 10 and how that was the final straw

Lol they lost the match by count out.

Seanny One Ball 04-18-2020 09:06 AM

Jacques Rougeau was ahead of his time. A Rougeau reality show would have been epic back in the day.

French Canada is nuts wrestling-wise.

Bad News Gertner 04-18-2020 11:51 AM

Jacques Rougeau is amazing

Emperor Smeat 04-18-2020 06:56 PM

Just finished watching the Snuka episode and wow at the story of Vince calling Nancy's family offering them money while police detective were in their house at the time.

Was a pretty great episode overall and one of the series best episodes from start to finish.

ozzman6669 04-18-2020 07:50 PM

I rewatched Snuka's episode and I think it's the second worst of the series after Moolah's, absolutely nothing new was said, it still the same rumors and he says-she says with nothing to back it up, they couldn't even get someone to say that the meeting with Vince really happened, yes the cop looks like he's lying but you can"t send someone to jail with that !! Even for Fatu, he start the episode saying that he don't remember Nancy's name and never talked to her and then at the end he sudenly remember after 36 years he remember that he was traveling with them !!

I'm not certain it was Vince. I think it possibly could have been Phil Zacko who was the local promoter for Vince and long time right hand man for Vince Sr.

Season 3 could be... Tammy Sytch/Chris Candido, Teddy Hart, Patterson Ring Boys, Steroid Trial, Chyna, Deathmatch Wrestling, Wrestler’s Court...

Could also do an episode on urban legends. Investigate if they are true. Macho/Stephanie, Sid shits his pants, Hogan black eye at Mania 9, different Warriors/Taker etc..

What's the Hogan WM9 black eye story/rumor? It sounds vaguely familiar but I guess I don't know the details.

That Hogan’s black eye cake from Savage in a bar fight instead of the jet ski accident.

The guys who co-wrote the Montreal Wrestling history book(Mad Dogs, Midgets and Screwjobs) that I own did a lot of the behind the scenes work on the Dino Bravo episode (Pat Laprade and Bertrand Hebert) so it should be well done.

slik 04-21-2020 10:08 PM

The Mountie explaining what a booker is to an audience who already knows

not an uninteresting story, but really, who fucking cares about Dino Bravo?

Seanny One Ball 04-22-2020 11:19 AM

Bad News Gertner 04-22-2020 11:37 AM

Gonna watch it tonight. For whatever reason Vice kept skipping for me last night so I only saw the first 10 minutes. I'll be able to stream it tonight.

Seanny One Ball 04-22-2020 11:47 AM

I think Vice must have been skipping for a lot of people because the only two uploads I could find on YouTube were both fucked. Those loading dots kept appearing every few minutes.

Wait. What’s your problem with Conrad Thompson?

Supreme Olajuwon 04-22-2020 02:13 PM

The first half of the episode is pretty skippable. The second half was better when they actually talked about the murder, but nowhere close to as good as the other murder episodes they’ve done.

Dr. D David Schultz next week. Not too sure how they are going to get an hour out of the Stossel incident.

It's Dr.D so prepare for a nice dose of bullshit mixed with entertainment

Bad News Gertner 04-22-2020 05:28 PM

Then it's Herb Abrams and the UWF. I have so many awesome stories about Herb and they are all amazing. Can't wait for this episode.

If you liked Benoit watch Brody, Von Erichs, New Jack and Snuka for sure. I thought they were all better than Benoit to be honest, they tell you more that you may not know about.

Droford 04-23-2020 02:03 AM

Dino Bravo ep had too much French. I took 4 years of French and it made me realize how much time I wasted

Seanny One Ball 04-23-2020 08:48 AM

Learning French in the hopes of understanding a French Canadian is a bit like trying to play Blackjack at a Texas Hold Em table.

Besides Season 3 likely being a lock, seems VICE is also considering a potential spin-off series for non-wrestling topics based on the positive reception Dark Side of the Ring series has been generating for the network.

Fenix122 04-24-2020 10:13 PM

After binging all the episodes I hate that have to wait until the 28th for the next one.

Jordan 04-24-2020 11:00 PM

David Schultz to me is like what the Stone Cold character was but for real for real. He is awesome and it's a shame his career dwindled. Looking forward to this one.

Bad News Gertner 04-25-2020 07:02 AM

He pretty much got blackballed after the Stossel incident. I think he showed up in Stampede and Memphis for a brief spell but that's it.

Bad News Gertner 04-25-2020 07:36 AM

He later became a bounty hunter

Jordan 04-25-2020 10:54 AM

Really looking forward to Herb Abrams story. I can't really imagine why it's on "The Darkside" of the Ring... is there some scandal involved? I know a bit about the promotion taping in Vegas and doing a couple of "PPV's". Not my favorite super fed attempt but interesting none the less. My favorite attempt at a super fed is the little known about Jerry Jarret was involved in the the 90's I believe.

Bad News Gertner 04-25-2020 02:33 PM

Lol I'm bursting at the seams wanting to answer that question. I just don't want to spoil the episode, but yes there's tons of crazy Herb Abrams stories.

Seanny One Ball 04-25-2020 05:01 PM

Just look at the episode title ffs

Seanny One Ball 04-25-2020 05:03 PM

I have had one image of Herb Abrahams in my mind since I heard about him and it's speedos in a silk dressing gown with cocaine all through his chest hair.

Think Burt Reynolds in "Striptease"

I listen to JR and Arn .... Stopped listening to Prichard's after it became the "kiss HHH ass in radio format" show. Oddly that started right around the time Prichard was rehired.

Watching the Snuka episode now and the former sheriff just said "the fact that some tells different stories is not enough evidence to charge someone with a crime." Right buddy ... nothing odd about that statement.

I'm with you, not a fan. Nothing really against him personally but I just don't see the need for a "setup man" on podcasts, or as he calls it, a "host".

"Hey Bruce what about this, hey Eric tell me how you did that, hey JR what do you think of so and so."

I don't see the value, he just takes up time from the people I actually want to hear talk.
