IRON FIST - Season Two (2018)

Iron Fist's second season trailer looks dramatically better than the first season

Feel like I was one of the only ones who liked the first season, so I am looking forward to this.

FU LJAW...I loved S1....

Lock Jaw 08-16-2018 12:33 PM

Good!

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-16-2018 12:38 PM

I only kept watching Iron First because of the cute lass that plays Colleen, but I'll give it another go.

alvarado52 08-16-2018 12:55 PM

Liked the first season, but really hated the fight scenes (too many angle cuts to compensate for shitty fight choreography).

Swiss Ultimate 08-16-2018 03:07 PM

I thought the season was pretty okay.

Of course, I ended up really only giving a shit about The Punisher.

I like to imagine that The Punisher is a real guy and his super hero friends are all delusional psychotics.

God, that'd make a great comic book.

Kalyx triaD 09-08-2018 01:26 PM

Can tell you right now this murders last season. Not DD or JJ season 1 levels, but much better.

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-08-2018 05:23 PM

Season 2 was significantly better that the first. I think it also benefits from having 10 episodes, rather than 13; less flab.

Innovator 09-10-2018 10:58 AM

3 episodes left, worlds better than season 1

Destor 09-11-2018 08:20 PM

Finally finished Ozark so ive started this. Def shows that the criticism was heard loud and clear. Season should be very good.

Kalyx triaD 09-11-2018 08:29 PM

My only issue now is while the action choreography is improved, I'm not so sure going the Old Boy direction was right. We already got that with DD and Iron Fist is explicitly a kung fu situation. While I'm not saying it should go full wu xia, some grounding of flashier kung foolery would fit better. I wanted the direction of season 1 simply paced and filmed better (essentially the China episode... all the time).

But it's cool, I guess I can live with this.

Tom Guycott 09-11-2018 11:46 PM

I'm only two episodes in thus far. Eh. I'm feeling it more than season 1, at least... although that is a very, very low bar. That's a plus side about having low expectations; it can only (theoretically) go up from here.

Destor 09-12-2018 08:17 PM

202.

Colleen remains compelling and super cute

Destor 09-12-2018 08:22 PM

202
SPOILER: show
addition of the mask allows for much better fights

Kalyx triaD 09-12-2018 08:44 PM

Like season 1 Colleen steals this show.

Destor 09-12-2018 08:49 PM

202
SPOILER: show
a man being sexual exploited by someone in power is a bold move in 2018. Though the nefarious subplot undermines it its still appreciated to take hellcats arc in JJS2 and out a fresh spin on it.

Destor 09-12-2018 08:55 PM

2 in. REALLY liking it so far. Cage s2 and IF s2 both seem to have made big strides. JJ is the only one with a sophmore slump it would seem.

Kalyx triaD 09-12-2018 09:14 PM

The one that went out of its way to be written and directed by all women. Hmm.

Destor 09-12-2018 09:33 PM

The season, for whatever reason, was uninspired and melodramatic to the point of exhaustion.

It wasnt BAD but it was flawed and a huge step back. Both for the sake of the drama of the show and its characters

Destor 09-12-2018 09:34 PM

The lack of a villain in the league of purple man was a big factor

Destor 09-12-2018 09:35 PM

But the JJ herself felt so sardonic that she sucked the soul out of every scene she was in. Wasnt the case in s1

Destor 09-12-2018 09:36 PM

Anyways IF S2 is good so far. Really excited for tomorrows ep.

Lock Jaw 09-12-2018 09:36 PM

I still haven't watched the last two episodes of Jessica Jones S2, or any of Luke Cage S2.......

I will get to them all eventually.......

Destor 09-13-2018 09:12 PM

203

I have a strong desire to touch colleens butt

Destor 09-13-2018 09:17 PM

203

Borther is more compelling in 3 eps than he was all last season

Destor 09-13-2018 09:46 PM

203

Excellent interpersonal drama

Destor 09-14-2018 08:46 PM

204

SPOILER: show
Really good oner with davos in the shipyard warehouse

Destor 09-14-2018 08:58 PM

204

The family dynamics are good this season. Really think it clicks very well. Engaging arcs all around.

Destor 09-14-2018 09:02 PM

The biggest improvement on season 2 is danny doesnt feel like a lost child anymore. It bogged the show down a bit.

Destor 09-14-2018 09:06 PM

204

SPOILER: show
STEEL FUCKING SERPENT HYPE

Destor 09-14-2018 09:07 PM

Theres so much in this season for long time Iron Fist fans. Im not sure what this show would be like without the filter of knowing the cannon going in but if you come as a long time fan this is excellent stuff

Destor 09-15-2018 01:05 PM

205

SPOILER: show
ep was setting the table. Nothing to write home about. Typhoid Mary is very good

Destor 09-16-2018 12:13 PM

206

SPOILER: show
im really into this steel serpent arc. Action is good this season as well.

Tom Guycott 09-17-2018 02:17 AM

Finished up a couple of days ago. Season 2 did an excellent job of taking me from "Eh... shit, I guess I have to watch it..." to actively wondering where season 3 is going to go.

I even tried to go back and watch season 1 with insight and context... and even with those, it was still ass.

My only problem with S2 is Mary. I don't even dislike the character. My issue with her has more to do with a nitpick with something that has become a trope of all the the shows in the Netflix MCU:

SPOILER: show
Shoehorned mental instabilities.

Again, it makes for an interesting character. Especially if they are going where it looks like they're going with her and it isn't some sort of Mandarin-like red herring. In her case it works for what's going on... Done well, it made Kingpin more than just generic rich crimeboss... but just about everyone has to have some detrimental mental illness or addiction or both. Punisher couldn't just have a psychotic break after his life was ripped away, no, it has to be PTSD specifically. To me, it feel like they're trying to run the gammut of "what disorder will our next person have?" before they whip out the medical journal to find some flaw for the next Daredevil baddie. Almost everyone is addicted to something... either metaporically or an actual chemical dependency, and that is sometimes on top of the mental disorder du juor.

It may not be intentional, but to me, it is starting to feel kinda cheap. Cheap under the guise of being "deep" or "insightful", but taking away from anything special.

That aside, this has really turned the tempo, the character, and the show as a whole around for me. The choreography and camerawork still isn't on par with the highest of high bars put in place by Daredevil, but it wasn't utter dogshit like season 1.

I think I may have stated elsewhere, but I feel it was the "luck" of it.

It was an issue I had with both Jessica Jonse S2 and Punisher; the truckloads of happenstance from different ends of the same spectrum.

For Jessica, there was a lot of stars lining up to shit on her with critical failure after critical failure. It was like, as kT put it, "trauma porn". Punisher, on the other hand, had far too many instances where unlikely strokes of good luck got Frank out of a jam more than any of his badass military training or ruthless instincts. He did all that he did in the first few minutes of the first episode to establish what he was doing with calculated precision, but then he goes on to be sloppy and reckless but okay because apparently he has a horsehoe up his ass.

Destor 09-17-2018 06:24 PM

207

Danny and Colleen are easily my fav MCU couple.

Destor 09-17-2018 06:53 PM

207

SPOILER: show
the development of both typhoid mary and the steel serpent have been some of the best character development of any of tv mcu. This is top shelf work.

Destor 09-17-2018 06:58 PM

Anyone who sleeps on s2 due to their impressions of s1 does themselves a disservice.

Destor 09-17-2018 07:01 PM

Show is great.
