These are the Ghostbusters. Anybody who sees this reboot is a piece of shit no good motherfucker.

I love the Ghostbusters films (who doesn't?), but this doesn't really bother me to be honest. I think, if they're having it as an all-female team, then at least it's a remake with a twist. I mean, we'll always have the originals to love either way, and should just take this for what it is. And, in fact, if it's an all-female team, and the story line is different, then is it really a remake at all? It'll just be a completely new franchise with new characters, just the same concept.

I suppose like most people, we're all getting fed up with remakes, but the Ghostbusters franchise hasn't really been touched for about 20+ years, outside of some crappy cartoons. I see no reason why not do something with it. If it's good, then hell, they took a concept that hasn't been touched for a long time and done something with it. If it's crap, well, fuck it, we'll still have the original movies which will have nothing to do with this anyway.

Either way, if we're not gonna get Ghostbusters 3 with Murray, Akroyd etc, then fuck it, let's see what they come up with.

The cartoons were awesome.

The Real Ghostbusters was great, and a huge part of my childhood. Extreme Ghostbusters or whatever it was called was meh.

My biggest problem with this- and with remakes in general- is that the original left some pretty big shoes to fill. Even decent attempts at major updates, such as Robocop (which I enjoyed) kind-of falter under the weight of its own name. As I said, the afore mentioned Robocop was "good", but not as good as the source material even without the nostalgia tinted goggles.

"Ghostbusters" invokes some lofty expectations from a fandom point of view, and there is a possibility that this may actually work with the female cast... but even this is more than a gimmicky cash grab; even if it is greater than anyone can imagine thus far (which, let's be honest, the bar is set really low at the moment), it will inevitably be quite unfavorably compared to the original.

... also, this could be a huge swerve, and be based on the OTHER Ghostbusters. [/sarcasm]

And someone needs to find and post that infinite gif of the cartoon ending. You know what I'm talking about.

A gay actor will play the receptionist role of Jeanine... just seems the way Hollywood would do it.

I think a lot of uproar is due to the fact that there are so many shit movies that can be redone and improved upon(MST3K movies!), but Ghostbusters is an all time great movie that needs no such treatment.

I'm really sorry that your favorite movie ever still has a lot of earning power and some big Hollywood jerks are going to exploit it, make money, and maybe not put out the greatest product of all time. But MAYBE they will. Still, no reason to get all upset over women's issues.

That said I don't think any thing comes comes close to the nightmare fuel that is the boogeyman

Not sure how many of you played the Ghostbusters game that was really, the sequel we all should have gotten, but at the end, they talk about setting up franchises in other states.

Well the male and female teams are confirmed to be in a shared continuity which may or may not be a continuation of the classic movies (honestly I'm reading conflicting reports on whether all of this is in the same universe as the OG team). Dan AkROID is a part of this so perhaps they are a continuation.
