Captain America: Winter Soldier, Iron Man, GOTG and Ant-Man are probably the best Marvel flicks so far (not counting X-Men since Fox makes those).

I hated the first Avengers film

The second one felt kinda dumb(If Stark would stop doing shit the world would be alot safer)

Civil War though not an Avengers film per say was....not really a Civil War but it was fun I guess they only just bickered a lot and even the big Airport showdown was way too easygoing for what was again supposed to be Civil War.

Take it has a family feud rather than them actually trying to kill each other.

R rated as well.

Damian Rey 2.0 03-27-2017 01:49 PM

Meh. Yes everything looks cool. Yes the lines in the trailer, to me, were good/funny.

But again, D.C. has lost any goodwill or benefit of the doubt with me. Looks like there's gonna be a lot going on in this movie to origin everyone other Batman and Wonder Woman, on top of the villain, on top of central plot and resurrecting Superman.

It'll probably be a cluster fuck of things going on crammed into a 2.5 hour film, and then we'll get the seemingly standard director's cut upon video release that won't necessarily make the film any better.

Kalyx triaD 03-27-2017 03:42 PM

It looks like Aquaman isn't fully embracing his lineage yet and he'll meet Mera and his mother's people in this movie.

Damian Rey 2.0 03-27-2017 05:10 PM

Sounds like it'd make a really cool Aquaman movie. I have a feeling it'll be stuffed into this movie and kinda glossed over to fit everything else in.

Kalyx triaD 03-27-2017 05:18 PM

Gotta be honest, I liked Aquaman the most in the trailer. I'm digging the 'Rock Star' revision of him and him standing on the Batmobile with a completely self aware 'WHOO' is all great. Basically he may be my fave version of him by doing nothing he's known to do.

Damian Rey 2.0 03-27-2017 05:40 PM

They seem to have given Jason Mamoa free reign on his take. I'm not big into Aquaman so if he's enjoyable in the role I could care less. I can see why comic fans may not like it though

The previews alone have made me like aqua man more than I ever have. That's a small win for DC in my book.

KIRA 03-27-2017 07:53 PM

Again DC biggiest problem is that their movies are like watching people pile into a small car.

Lock Jaw 03-27-2017 08:02 PM

I still wish Aquaman looked more like the comic books.......... he just kept reminding me of Roman Reigns in that trailer...... Pushed as a "cool" "laid back" "badass" "BIG DOG", but really he just feels "forced"........

Lock Jaw 03-27-2017 08:02 PM

Would be "hellish" if they changed the comics to make Aquaman look more like the movie......

That he looks like someone I can't stand is hard to get past

But Jason Moma's Aquaman comes across as being actually carefree and that helps a lot.

Destor 03-27-2017 08:50 PM

Love Moma in 89% of everything ive seen him. If anyone needs re imagining its aquaman

Destor 03-27-2017 08:51 PM

Major image issues

Lock Jaw 03-27-2017 08:55 PM

Aquaman been consistently great in the comics since 2011.

Destor 03-27-2017 09:14 PM

And that means next to nothing. Comics have next to no readership. Ask 100 people and 99 will tell you "aquaman is a fag"

Destor 03-27-2017 09:15 PM

Rebranding him visually is a smart movie by the studio/casting director

Lock Jaw 03-27-2017 09:18 PM

I will respectfully say that we will have to agree to disagree.

Destor 03-27-2017 09:29 PM

To the rebranding or the negitive public image?

While True updating him to look like Khal Drogo might be a smart move because as long as he looks like he currently does he is going to be easily dismissed as that goof who talks to fish.

To the rebranding..... he had a "negative image" in the comics too, but a good writer was able to turn all that around, and fairly quick.

Kalyx triaD 03-27-2017 09:46 PM

Yeah to the dismay of all six Aquaman fans I'm afraid this movie version is kinda what he needed to get anywhere close to mainstream.

Comic fans want to like him. Pretty important difference.

And im not discrediting the last half of a decade, you arent wrong. I just dont think these are comparable.

Kalyx triaD 03-27-2017 09:48 PM

And not 'comic book' mainstream, but like random dudes talking about Aquaman free riding the Batmobile and diving into parademons mainstream.

Lock Jaw 03-27-2017 09:50 PM

Whatevs. You are all wrong, and I am right.

Lock Jaw 07-22-2017 04:49 PM

Movie keeps looking better, I guess. Turning my hopes to "very cautiously optimistic".......

Though I still don't like how Aquaman looks.

Destor 07-22-2017 05:05 PM

Whedpn has done "extensive reshoots" according to a piece on NPR yesterday

Sixx 07-22-2017 05:13 PM

Whedon? He's working with DC now?

Destor 07-22-2017 05:14 PM

Yes. He initially came on for a batgirl picture but when Snyder had his personal issues they asked Joss to step in and finish the film

Destor 07-22-2017 05:15 PM

Most thought he would be handling the editing but it appears he's reworking stuff as well

Sixx 07-22-2017 05:19 PM

Oh, it's cause of that thing with Snyder's daughter.

Cool they picked Whedon.

Lock Jaw 07-22-2017 05:51 PM

Why was Alfred expecting that T-rex at the end?

Lock Jaw 07-22-2017 05:51 PM

Or was it the t-rex from the batcave just coming back to life?

They've done exactly that in the latest arc, but I kinda don't mind because how he looks in the film is how he looked in the '90s anyway (and JL/JLU animated series -- even Brave & The Bold sees the value in giving him at least some facial hair) -- and I always kinda liked the '90s Aquaman look. Makes more "sense" for some reason. Harpoon-hand I could take or leave though.

Actually really enjoying the most recent Aquaman arc though, as you say, he's been strong for the past several years. But taking the book to the 'streets' of Atlantis and giving him an almost Batman-esque air of mythos among the citizens was a pretty cool move and helped sell his new(ish) unkempt look.
