Demons (not fin balor)

Listening to podcasts and shoot interviews you will hear the term demons come up. Honestly it is a bit sickening to put responsibility for ones actions out of their one hands.

Shawn had demons...no he fucking loved to get high with his buddies. He was a drug addict.

Scott HAll had demons...no he loved to fucking drink.

These terms used to migitate, or soften the actions of individuals is sickening. Also it sends a message to people that its okay to be loose with your responsibility.

Big Vic 07-02-2019 02:46 PM

Oddly enough the only one who doesn't have demons is Finn Balor.

Destor 07-02-2019 02:50 PM

Its a colloquialism that has no moral implication.

Supreme Olajuwon 07-02-2019 04:00 PM

Damn, if only one person had told Scott Hall to just stop drinking so much before he ruined his life and career, this all could have been avoided.

Really makes you think.

Big Vic 07-02-2019 04:04 PM

Your a cloaca with no morals

Big Vic 07-02-2019 04:05 PM

I had an hour and ten minutes to hit Destor with that piss poor joke and failed.

Supreme Olajuwon 07-02-2019 04:06 PM

Couldn’t overcome those joke demons

Supreme Olajuwon 07-02-2019 04:10 PM

Seriously though, props to the MAC for confidently showing us his take on substance abuse and mental health issues that most 10 year olds would describe as “a bit simplistic.”

RP 07-02-2019 04:59 PM

I just released a demon 10 minutes ago.

Fignuts 07-02-2019 05:29 PM

You’re misinterpreting the phrase demons as an excuse.

Destor 07-02-2019 05:57 PM

Demons = tl;dr for "all the shit i dont want to get i to right now"

by demon, I meant ejaculate.

xrodmuc316 07-02-2019 07:47 PM

Ricochet has a strange demon

Savio 07-02-2019 08:59 PM

I think that's technically an incubus

Supreme Olajuwon 07-02-2019 09:45 PM

I’d be happy to be Ricochet’s succubus.

This.

And a more complete use of the term is "their demons to battle". I'ts become semi-polite shorthand for whatever may be known about a person, like drug addiciton, self harm, abuse, depression, whatever. It isn't much different than when someone who overcame such things says something like "I was in a dark place" - generally used for either an addiction or suicidal ideation levels of deep depression.

More a personal, internal struggle that they themselves have to battle and overcome than a separate metaphysical entity to pawn things off on.

Like the Scott Hall example - his demon *was* that he liked to drink. Alcohol became more important than a lot of shit to him, and it took him to decide to fight that. The phrase isn't trivializing his drinking or how it contributed to his fall by saying it wasn't his fault.

OverTaker 07-03-2019 02:37 AM

We all have our bad demons and our favorites....and my favorite is.. Kane 4ever

My Final Heaven 07-03-2019 02:01 PM

I think the phrase "demons" has a legit usage, but it gets thrown around way too much as a catch-all term. Like you said, Shawn & Razor didn't so much have Demons as they were simply substance abusers that didn't care about anything else.

"He has demons" fits more for guys like Mike Awesome, Brian Adams & Rick Wilson / Renegade. They had legit psychological problems & dependencies that ended up killing them.

So it has to kill you for your "demons" to be legit?

My Final Heaven 07-03-2019 02:31 PM

I dunno, i just feel like it's become a generic term for anybody with some personal problems. It should apply to things that are... darker? I guess?

Chris Jericho is an infamous drunk. He has Demons?

Fignuts 07-03-2019 02:42 PM

Jericho isn’t dependent on alcohol though, much as he may enjoy it.

It’s become a generic term, because it’s meant to be. As stated earlier, it’s not an excuse. Just a way to say you’ve had substance abuse problems without going into specific details.

Fignuts 07-03-2019 02:45 PM

It’s typically used in conversations where said demons aren’t the topic of discussion, but it’s difficult to continue without at least mentioning them.

#1-norm-fan 07-05-2019 09:39 PM

I personally think there were actual demons forcing alcohol and drugs down HBK and Scott Hall’s throat and nose. DEBATE ME.

Fignuts 07-05-2019 10:15 PM

That son of a bitch Undertaker used his demon attack from WrestleMania the arcade game, to corrupt them.

Bad News Gertner 07-06-2019 09:26 AM

Papa Shango used his black magic on them

Jordan 07-06-2019 09:29 AM

So is Kane addicted to Soma's?
