Wow, can't believe we're getting close to twenty years since WWE became the only major player in town AND since they lost out to the panda people that forced the name change.

Of course, there is that theory running around that Vince and company deliberately tanked that legal battle so that'd they'd have an excuse to have "entertainment" as part of the name.

I don't doubt that.

I can't remember who said it on the Ruthless Aggression show, but someone praised Vince for being "a visionary" for changing the name.

At this point the name change makes sense and seems "bigger" and yes certainly less "rasslin".

Thanks for making the thread. I'm considering trying to resub for a free Network trial so that I can watch The Rumble. The Adam Pearce booking sounds too good to miss. I always hoped this would happen for him but never thought it would come to fruition.

I have been off WWE since Mania. I won't be getting into Raw anytime soon it's just too long for me. But Smackdown has some stuff happening that sounds quite good. I wish there was a way to see the whole Roman/Uso saga without watching and skipping through entire episodes.

It makes me wonder why they didn't go with "World Entertainment Federation". Certainly with that label SmackDown! Records would have been a force with which we'd all still be reckoning.

tbh it would make more sense to simply make sub-forums in the Wrestling Forum... WWE forum, AEW forum, etc

I'd bet dollars to donuts that they welch on it and it ends up being yet another Kevin Owens match.

And I like KO a lot, but come on. The Rumble is the perfect time to put nonconventional title challengers in there because the Rumble itself is the draw. Also it frees up KO to have a nice babyface run in the Rumble itself instead of just having a match that could happen on any SmackDown.

We all know 4 letter companies are doomed to fail.

Roman and KO have had several matches at PPV in a row, so it's a good idea to have Roman face someone else.

He's like very similar to the fatter guy from FTR. Also he seems to be in much better shape now than when he was NWA/ROH Champ. He had a pretty epic feud with Colt Cabana on the indies which revolved around the NWA Championship. Very old school and simple but very solid worker. Since he's an agent and a big deal behind the scenes I'm expecting him to put on a great showing. I haven't been watching so I don't know the possibility of KO slipping in over Pearce but I really hope not.

That does seem the way it is being setup. Roman made a big deal about how Pearce got his friend K.O. hurt by putting him in a match the week before.

These conversations you are referring to do not exist. Somebody posts something, a few people post in 100% agreement that the thing they love is the greatest thing ever. A few less people don't agree because they aren't blindly biased, then the original people come back and insult the ones not agreeing 100% in their view.

I guess there is a chance Drew can still do the match. If not though, would they just delay til the next PPV?

I think they will likely push it to E.C. I guess the Rumble still being 2 weeks out means they may still be able to do it there, but if I was betting is think they will push it to the next PPV.

I mean would they think Goldberg could help draw the February show so he isn't "wasted" at the Rumble?

(I'm guessing he's got limited dates.)
