Yup. Still. PS3 even ended up outselling the 360 due to MS not being able to get popularity in large parts of Europe and Asia.

Eh Wii always seemed like the worst out of the three to me. I'm sure they sold well for the family factor. Weren't they cheaper also? I never moved on from the PS2 so it doesn't matter to me either way. I won't buy this console but it looks better than anything Nintendo has done since N64.

There's a hype for this that I haven't seen in some time. Like the Wii U being non-existent has helped to the point where people are looking at it like "Woah, I've not used Nintendo since the Wii!".

Unfortunately, Nintendo have already announced they're going to kill noff the hype by saying they're not going to talk about it more until 2017....

The Switch trailer on YouTube has already suprassed the lifetime views of the 2011 Wii U trailer with 11.6million views.

I think less is more here. Famine can be a big motivater for consumers. 3 months of marketing leading to launch is plenty

Yeah, I'm with you on that generally, but there's a reason tech gets announced and then its out in stores next week. It's hard to get this initial bump back.

I got a wii almost just for super mario galaxy. Somebody get me a real Mario Game and I will conaider it.

What do you consider a real Mario game? Mario 3D for the Wii U was epic. Galaxy was also amazing. I will always enjoy the 2D games the most though.

Lost Levels is less of a real Mario game than any of those... you also listed Super Mario Bros 2 which is literally a completely different unrelated to the mario series game with some sprites and text changed

Yup. 3DS probably has another year of games in it, but the idea here is that if 3rd party support dries up again and Nintendo is the only main player developing games for the console, its all hands on one platform instead of two.

No. Handhelds are Nintedo's best sellers. Not sure it's a good idea to kill a moneymaker.

3DS did really poorly outside of Japan. Mobile has taken that market.

Big reason why Nintendo finally got around to making mobile games since they no longer had the advantage over the constant bugging by investors to rush into the market.

If Wii Sports sold 82.78 million (and wasn't always the pack in game), Mario Kart Wii sold 36.38 million, Wii Sports Resort sold 32.8 million, New Super Mario Wii sold 29.32 million and Wii Play sold 28.02 million. 8 of the top 10 best selling games of all time on a single format are NIntendo games and 5 of those are Wii games.

They're not killing the 3DS line I can assure you. It still prints money for Nintendo. This is simply a different system and may end up killing the 3DS like the Gameboy line but not for another 2-4 years after the launch of the Switch.

You won't see a 3DS game in holiday 2018 from Nintendo, apart from maybe Pokemon because GameFreak are always late to the party. It's not printing money, it's selling slowly even in Japan now.

Only way of happens is if the Switch bombs harder than the Wii U. This is what they have to do mostly because 3DS didn't live up to sales expectations.

Switch will be higher price then a 3DS but if its portability works as advertised then whatever excuse for 3DS exclusives wither away by sheer common sense. There would be no reason to not have a Pokemon game down the line for Switch, outside from some absurd spin control nobody will accept.

Switch's success is the end of Nintendo's console/portable parity mark my words. Even the rumors way back talked about Nintendo wanting to merge these fields.

And that's not even mentioning nuclear options I know Nintendo has like a Pokemon MMO or a Super Mario 'Universe' (Maker + Galaxy + 3D World multiplayer = $billions). The year Nintendo legit under performs they dick slap us with megatons until they get comfortable and do weird shit again. That has been the cycle for years.
