If they hold off on getting this out there when people want to buy it I think Nintendo is going to be fucked. They are already doing it with the new NES plug and play. Want to make it seem like it's a Tickle Me Elmo when it's just that they didn't make enough for launch.

They also did it with the WiiU which is one of the biggest reasons I think it has failed.

They didn't do it on the Wii U, it was readily available on shelves and has never sold out. We were even taunting scalpers on eBay with shelves of stock in stores.

Last console that they did before the NES Classic that sold out was the Wii and we all know how that did.

It's not really Nintendos fault. They don't want to stuff the supply chain with stock that won't sell like the 3DS and Wii U as they then have to give retailers financial incentives to take more stock like games and accessesories. Conversely, if it's understocked, they can't just flick a switch and get more stock quickly, you usually need months of planning to get a slot in one of thesde factories. However, the latter is probably the better net situation for Nintendo.

Eurogamer currently rumored to be revealing some new Switch details tomorrow.

http://gonintendo.com/stories/268738...-news-tomorrow

#BROKEN Hasney 11-18-2016 07:17 AM

So Eurogamers thing is Pokemon Stars. This isn't a spin off, but you know how some Pokemons get a third version like Yellow or Platinum? It's that, except it's not coming out on 3DS and will exclusively be on the Switch instead.

Quote:

In fact, you may have already seen something from the Switch version. Sun and Moon's February reveal teaser culminates in split-second shots of Game Freak staff such as series boss Junichi Masuda and director Shigeru Ohmori working on Sun and Moon spliced with quick flashes of in-game concept art and models, including this HD in-game model for new bird Pokémon Pikipek. We've heard this is for the Switch edition:

Quote:

It may be some time before Stars releases, however. We heard the game was initially a summer 2017 launch for Nintendo Switch, but has since been pushed back to later in the year.

Ubisoft Developing Rabbids & Mario Crossover RPG For Switch Launch Day

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...d3b6ee2f25.jpg

Quote:

According to both of our sources at Ubisoft and Nintendo, on the day the Switch launches, it’ll launch alongside a new Ubisoft-developed turn based RPG, with the name suggesting it will be a crossover of the Raving Rabbids and Mario series.
The game, whose formal title has not yet been confirmed but is currently under the working title “Mario RPG: Invasion of the Rabbids”, is being developed under the watchful monitoring of Nintendo, ensuring that it both hits launch day and that it conforms to Nintendo’s own internal specifications for how Mario characters and iconography should be presented.
Quote:

The title will focus on the Mario universe being invaded by Ubisoft’s Rabbids characters, some friend and some foe, and will feature a new Bowser form based around the design of the Rabbids as a recurring boss enemy. While there will be numerous cameo appearances from the Mario series’ best known characters, the core party will feature numerous, more minor characters. There is a particular focus on Yoshi as a primary party member, alongside a playable Rabbid.
Quote:

The title will have a playable demo ready for press to experience in January, and will feature a quicksave system to ensure that saving is possible on short notice if the battery on the Switch handheld is running low. Part of the planned press demo includes the JoyCons vibrating to imply a Rabbid jumping into and out of them from the TV or handheld screen. The idea is to imply your system is infested with Rabbids, and that they could at any time jump out of your controller and interfere with gameplay.
Quote:

The title is going to be one of the cornerstone trailers shown when Nintendo details the system further in January. Nintendo intends to pitch the project to consumers as a Mario RPG project in collaboration with Ubisoft, in spite of Ubisoft doing most of the work on development

Asking Harada about Tekken 7:

Quote:

GS: Have you considered incorporating PlayStation 4 Pro or Xbox Scorpio support for the game?

KH: Those platforms are relatively new as far as what we know about them and what's been released publicly about them. It's hard to comment on that right now.

GS: So, no Nintendo Switch version to reveal?

KH: We're quite surprised by the Nintendo Switch announcement; read into that what you like.

Emperor Smeat 11-21-2016 09:24 PM

Bethesda teased the stuff Nintendo showed to them at E3 for the Switch was enough to sway them to make games for the system. Also confirmed Skyrim is in development for the console.

Quote:

Coming from a Glixel interview with Bethesda's Todd Howard...

G: What do you think of the Switch, Nintendo's newly announced console that is portable but also hooks up to your TV?

TH: I love it. I got to play it. I will tell you – well, maybe that's an N.D.A. thing. One of the best demos I've ever seen. Probably the best demo I've ever seen. At E3.

G: Was it a Nintendo game?

TH: I mean the device itself. I think it's really smart what they're doing. We're definitely going to be supporting it. It's the first time we've done something on Nintendo. If you don't count the old NES stuff. Home Alone. Or Where's Waldo?

G: Can you really bring Skyrim with you on the go?

TH: It's the same game on the TV and on the other screen.

Same source as the other rumors that are coming out, Nintendo are internally aiming for a June 16 2017 UK Breath of the Wild Switch release. Aiming Wii U for June 23 2017 UK.

Also, there will be a Xenoblade Chronicles X port.

#BROKEN Hasney 11-29-2016 08:34 AM

So in Ubis 30th anniversary video, Mario, Luigi and Toad were shown as Rabbids.

Another game was recently announced for the Switch although came at the cost of the Wii U losing a game. The creator of Stardew Valley announced a Switch port is currently in development but had to drop the Wii U version as a trade off.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/sta.../1100-6445817/

Both EA and Take Two recently reconfirmed they have plans to support the Switch with games although EA implied at possibly pulling an Ubisoft by withholding a game or possibly games till the console hits a certain number for userbase.

Quote:

Speaking at a conference today, EA chief competition officer Peter Moore discussed the Nintendo Switch console and Titanfall 2. On the subject of Nintendo's next console, Moore reiterated that EA is bringing a "major" game to the console, though he didn't say which one. Like Take-Two, it sounds like EA is taking a "wait and see" approach to supporting Switch.
Quote:

"We're going to watch with interest," Moore said about EA's plans for Switch. "You can rest assured that EA, as with every major publisher, is in regular conversations with Nintendo."

Earlier this month, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said the Switch is an "interesting device," though he expressed some doubts about whether or not it can appeal to a wide audience.

Switch rumored to be using standard USB cables (USB 3.1 based) to charge the system instead of requiring system specific charger cables like with past Nintendo portable devices.

#BROKEN Hasney 12-06-2016 01:43 PM

Quote:

When the system is connected to the dock by USB-C, the system’s components will run at a higher clock speed to facilitate 1080p resolutions on the TV. Both video and power will be transfered over USB-C when docked. Plugging the system into the dock will also activate a small additional fan to help with cooling when run at that higher clock speed. This fan is in the rear of the dock, and there is a gap in the back of the dock to allow the system’s inbuilt fans to vent when docked.
Makes sense since there's a resolution bump going to TV.

Dark Souls 3 is apparently up and running on the Switch too. From Software is contemplating a trilogy release.

GameCube Virtual Console for Switch is indeed a thing, heard from at least 3 people. Working on report now on 1st games, thinking behind it.

#BROKEN Hasney 12-07-2016 08:42 AM

Gamecube plans: Luigi's Mansion, Sunshine and Melee support with Animal Crossing currently being tested.

Quote:

And while the number of platforms to be offered on Switch's Virtual Console has yet to be nailed down, we've heard that there should be an upgrade programme similar to that available on Wii U, where earlier purchases of Virtual Console NES games can be 'upgraded' for a small fee rather than being bought again at full price.

We've also heard that Nintendo Switch's Virtual Console is being engineered by (Nintendo European Research and Development) NERD, the studio behind the recent NES Mini micro-console which sold out in many stores ahead of Christmas
The emulation in the NES mini kills the VC emulation, so glad they're running the show.

According to recent reports, From Software is currently rumored to be working on a Dark Souls III port for the Switch but are also acting like EA and Ubisoft in regards to not likely going to release it unless the console sells a certain amount. Both EA and Ubisoft recently hinted at holding back games in development until the Switch reaches a certain userbase for sales.

The Nintendo Switch has its first third-party exclusive: Seasons of Heaven by France-based AnyArt Productions, who is known for indie titles such as Seasons of Heaven. I started to write Story of Seasons three different times before having to check the name again. This project is based on a book of the same name, featuring a young boy diagnosed with Asperger's named Yann and his French bulldog Ani.

While no gameplay details are known yet, it looks like it will be an artistic, emotionally-driven story. Said story "centres on a group of survivors in a post-civilization world."
Also running on the Unreal Engine 4 in terms of the tech being used according to Eurogamer's report.

With all this third party support irs getting, this has the potential to be the best Nintendo console since the SNES.

If the Virtual Console is morw comprehensive, and doesn't have the glacial release pacing of the WiiU, then it's going to be all the sweeter.

I think that's the point of all the rumored Wii U remasters. Keep that launch year rolling with content and considering how many people owned a Wii U, it'll all be new to them.

There does still seem to be that buzz about it that should help a lot. I still can't help but think that missing this holiday is going to hurt it out of the gate though.

Man I wouldn't put too much stock in that demo for the Switch on Fallon but god damn does Zelda look pretty.

Color me intrigued on the Switch, but I want to see everything else around the Switch (online functionality, the OS, the ease of switching controllers and control styles) before I'm in on buying one. I'm hopeful the January Nintendo direct will start showing more of that stuff.

The few games they've shown off look nice, for sure.

Speculation going around the net involves the shirt Miyamoto wore for the Tonight Show might have been an actual teaser for an upcoming Mario project or something related to it.

Quote:

Nintendo's Bill Trinen, who was sitting next to Miyamoto in the audience (that's him on the left in the picture above), tweeted last night, "Has anyone figured out what's up with Miyamoto's Samurai Mario shirt?" He followed this up with another tweet adding, "Cause I know what's up."
