Rate the Game: Week 78
We're set to close out the month of September with this being the final Rate the Game of the month. Where did all the time go? Hopefully playing some of our top titles on this list. There are some doozies in that upper echelon. Could last week's game, Red Dead Redemption be among them? Well we have our glorious leaderboard to give us that answer. Show us what you got....

Ghosts n' Goblins (2.14) Indeed we've got some interesting maneuvering at the top of the heap as Red Dead Redemption earns itself a nice fat average of 4.5 and that's enough to land it in the top 10, sharing space with Chrono Trigger and Portal. Hey, it takes all kinds. We can only wonder what other titles will be fortunate enough to occupy one of those top spots. Could it be this week's entry? Let's take a gander at what week 78 has in store for us. Let's go to the .gif!
via GIPHY
Well, like I said, I was down with adding more sequels to the pool and thus here we are. Week 78's game is the sequel to Valve's surprise FPS hit, Half-Life 2! It's another romp with Gordon Freeman and his trusty crowbar, with a few extra ingredients. The important question is how did it fare with you? Is it a worthy successor? Does it fall flat? Somewhere in between? Let's all rate and discuss and share and blah blah blah. Here's to another week! |
No poll. did you eat your nubflakez this morning?

Great game with an innovative physics system, but not as groundbreaking as the first. |
Aw, fuck me, I forgot to make everyone's choices public. :o
|
Half-life 3 confirmed.
That alone makes 2 worth a 5. So does the gravity gun and the general atmosphere of the game. Don't know why but the first time I got to Ravenholm it terrified me more than any horror game ever. Half-life 2 is the pinnacle of the fps genre. It's been out nearly 20 years and no one has topped it yet. |
QUIT PICKING GAMES I LOVE EVERY WEEK.
jk keep doing it. It makes me smile remembering all these gems. |
I'm bound to have a DUD in here somewhere; something that would make Ghosts n' Goblins wet its pants in the glee of not being the bottom of the barrel anymore.

fuckin ravenholm. forgot about that until this came up.

no commentary video btw ^^
Shit, after watching it, it kinda gives me Resident Evil: VIIIage vibes. When this was new, it was REALLY fookin good. So many good memories. |
5. Still waiting on Half-Life 3.
|
|
Never played it.
|
You should play it now if you have a computer. After you install it, its definitely a game you can "pick up and play".
|
Or just Orange Box it. I know there are some purists that would scoff at that but, come on, it's the Orange Box.

Well we'd be asking a lot out of you if we suggested picking up your desktop, now wouldn't we?
|
Personally I think LJ should pick up his entire home and play it, but that's me.
|
Or play it on his home. My dream is own one of those projectors that connect to your devices so that I can play a game on an entire exterior side of a house. Not necessarily Half-Life 2 but it's an option.
|
Unless you get a nice projector that scales well, it will look like absolute shit.
Source: I've done this |
Yeah, I figured I'd have to get a top brand model. My friend had one and we had a big game night with a bunch of people over and we used one of the walls as a separate screen to play some Halo multiplayer and Mario Kart. It worked fine for what we needed but the dream still remains....

This week was just itching for Curtis to come on in with a sentiment like this. :( |
Hell, maybe he sneaked back in and gave it one of those 2s that I now see in the poll.
