The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim

Might as well make this, seeing as how we have our first trailer.

Actually gave me shivers. Dunno how I'm going to wait another year!

D Mac 12-23-2010 06:33 AM

WOOOOOOO

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-24-2010 02:25 AM

It's going to be a daunting task to be better than Oblivion. Are they going to be able to pull it off?

Hanso Amore 12-25-2010 12:14 AM

BAN?

D Mac 12-26-2010 05:38 PM

Ban who? This thread was first.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-16-2011 07:25 AM

I'll grab this when it appears in some sales. Not saying it's not going to amazing, but I don't trust Bethesda to make it playable at launch anymore so I may as well save a few quid and wait.

Sepholio 01-19-2011 09:37 AM

I'm with Hasney. Gonna wait for the bugs to get patched out.

Might be awhile, still waiting for New Vegas to stop freezing every 11.5 seconds. Wonder when that patch will happen.

D Mac 01-19-2011 02:55 PM

Probably because you're on PS3 Seph? :p

I've had no problems with 360 version since the update.

And I will be pre ordering Skyrim.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-20-2011 09:46 AM

The PC version works, sometimes. Still can't do all the bloody quests on the 360 though.

After looking at the new screens, I see you've finally been able to make a female face that isn't scraped from the scum left in the bathtub of my most putrid, horrific, mortifying nightmares.
I have a feeling that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is gonna be aaaaaalright!

Extreme Angle 02-09-2011 07:31 AM

These screens makes me want it... badly.

Boomer 02-09-2011 09:50 AM

I'll probably wait until I beat Morrowind and Oblivion, which will be never.

:(

Fignuts 02-24-2011 01:25 PM

So there has never been a dragon in an elder scolls game? That seems odd.

Fignuts 02-24-2011 01:33 PM

Feel kind of burnt out on this engine, so unless they do a lot of big improvements, I'll probably bargain bin it at best. Not asking for a total revamp, mind you, I just don't really want to play the same game again.

Fantasy settings have never really been my bag. A fantasy game has to be really good for me to like it. So far the only ones I've played all the way through are the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale games, and Dragon Age.

So I guess only Bioware stuff. Cause I'm fairly certain the people in Bioware are many of the same people who did the forgotten realms games. Still need to try out Neverwinter Nights.

You're fucking nuts man. It looks much improved and awesome.

It's a brand new engine this time around.

Fignuts 02-25-2011 02:22 AM

Awesome. Also, Dmac I wasn't talking about the graphics. It's obvious that there have been improvements in that area.

Funky Fly 02-25-2011 02:25 AM

Nah, they added a bunch of new shit. BTW, the engine is mostly new. Check out the wiki page to see details about some of the stuff coming, unless you have a subscription to OXM.

NICE

Cool, you can use both hands and cast 2 spells at once if you want.

Looks badass

#BROKEN Hasney 06-09-2011 03:24 PM

There are unlimited dragons. All with dynamic personalities.

You hear that? UNLIMITED DYNAMIC DRAGONS.

Yep. And by defeating them you "obtain their souls" which allows you to learn spells, which is badass. I also love that the Mages' Guild and Thieves' Guild and possibly Fighters' Guild will still be in.:heart:

#BROKEN Hasney 06-09-2011 06:56 PM

There's a video on Gametrailers where they were talking with a dev and there was a giant there, minding his own business at that point and a dragon came down and FUCKED UP HIS DAY. Was beautiful :'(

LoDownM 06-10-2011 02:39 AM

New engine, faces that look like faces, and random dragon fights throughout the game, I'm sold.

Requiem 06-11-2011 12:36 AM

Will probably put a lot of hours into this. Hope it is good enough to hold my attention.

Nowhere Man 06-12-2011 12:36 PM

Elder Scrolls has never been my bag (mainly because first-person melee combat always felt clunky and awkward), but holy crap, this looks like a truly impressive game. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get this, especially since I'll be using a PC that isn't worthless by the time it comes out.

Poit 06-12-2011 08:35 PM

I'm totally getting this, as long as it doesn't have the lame "monsters scale to your level" thing Oblivion had.

Funky Fly 06-13-2011 01:03 PM

According to an ign article somewhere, when you enter a dungeon/cave/mine/whatever the monsters are locked to whatever level you are at when you first enter the cave/etc.

Going through Oblivion rn and I don't mind the monster levelling too much. I mean I had to do a ruin which had a big room with 4 Lichs in it. Let me tell you how much it sucks to to get spotted and then jumped by Lichs with different staves: My armour got disintigrated, my strength got destroyed (paralyzing me in the processs) I got zombies all over me and I had my magika damaged almost completely. I came so close to eating it that I was practically dripping with adrenaline. Crazy battle.

Yeah, they've said at Eł that there's at LEAST 300 hours of content, possibly even more...astonishing.

El Capitano Gatisto 06-13-2011 05:59 PM

This looks pretty good. I would love to see an Oblivion game with the Demon's Souls combat system, maybe without the complete bastard difficulty.

Bethesda revealed the contents of the collector's edition with the price being $149.99 for the set.

Quote:

Here’s a rundown of the Collector’s Edition contents straight from Bethesda:

* Alduin Statue: Created in conjunction with the IP Factory, this collector’s only statue stands 12” tall and is made of high quality PVC. Modeled from actual in-game 3D digital files, it showcases Alduin, the World Eater. He stands perched atop one the game’s many dragon walls that teach the player the lethal language of dragons.

* ‘The Art of Skyrim’ Official Art Book: Featuring over 200 pages of striking, full-color illustrations, sketches and models, this stunning 9 3/8” x 12 1/8” coffee table book showcases the characters, creatures, environments, and weaponry of Skyrim. With a foreword by game director Todd Howard and commentary from Bethesda Game Studios artists, readers will be guided through the game’s iconic visual style.

*‘The Making of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ DVD This documentary DVD contains exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage, including interviews with the Bethesda Game Studios team as they take you from concept to creation and provide insights into the story, gameplay, setting, legacy of the Elder Scrolls franchise, and much more.

Also related was how the director for the game feels the gaming industry should be lowering standard game prices to a more friendly $29 range since he feels more people are willing to buy and try out more games than being hesitant at the higher $60 price tag.

Although he ended up being a bit of a hypocrite after rejecting any idea of the Elder Scrolls series or Skyrim being lowered to his ideal price range.
