Not "news" but kinda related to the hockey/wii image.

Kalyx triaD 06-01-2010 05:36 AM

Gotta admit, that's a product with moxie.

Drakul 06-02-2010 02:40 AM

Dunno where to put this. I didn't want to bump Cloxs "Sims 3 is the Best" thread. The Sims 3 is going to be bigger on the PS3 than it was on the PC according to some Russian Sims site. I'm guessing that'll mean the same for the 360.

We'll get official details at E3, I'm sure. Speaking of E3, I saw a German video of Natal. The Breakout game had new avatars. They looked more "realistic" than the current Avatars but not as "realistic" as the avatars from Home.
My first thought was maybe a revamping of Avatars announced at E3? It's more likely to be models just loaded into the breakout game, I guess.

Actually, going to go get the video.
This isn't the video I originally saw but it's a better one. We see the avatars through out the video and at 3:03 there is a screen that says "Avatar selection" with the two new models, Boy and Girl. Considering Natal was supposed to be able to know if you are male/female just by looking at you, why are they selecting Avatars?

Valve have a surpise at E3.

SPECULATE, PUPPETS

Drakul 06-02-2010 02:49 AM

Half Life 3 or Episode 3 or whatever it's called that people have been screaming at Valve for.

Drakul 06-02-2010 09:14 AM

After 25 years, Rare has a new logo in 4 "styles".

Miss the gold R already.

Wii will be getting a new gun-shell:

Hardcore.

Kane Knight 06-02-2010 12:26 PM

Can I get oen shaped like a P90? If I'm going to wave a Wiimote around like a douce pretending to shoot people, I at least want my douchiness to suit my asthetics.

Kalyx triaD 06-02-2010 02:42 PM

I imagine this would open the door for the return of the Nintendo Zapper.

OssMan 06-02-2010 02:55 PM

Well there is a Wii Zapper already

Kalyx triaD 06-02-2010 03:03 PM

It is very ugly.

Activision has announced the first Activision Independent Game Competition, in which the publisher is putting a call out for submissions from indie game developers in the United States.

The contest will allow either individuals or teams to submit either completed or in-development games, the winners taking home cash towards development as prizes. Round one of the competition starts today, and goes through August 31; the first place winner will get $175,000 towards development of their title, with the second place getting $75,000 in assistance. Winners will be announced in October, with details on "round two" being announced at a later date.

The idea, says the publisher, is to "help foster creativity and innovation from rising talent in the independent game development community."
Interesting... Also, Hulu is rumored to be getting an app for XBL.

Emperor Smeat 06-02-2010 10:53 PM

Supposedly its going to cost a "small fee" to use Hulu on Xbox 360 similar to Netflix having its own fee on Xbox 360.

Jordan confirmed on the cover for NBA 2k11 after a week or two of him being rumored to be on the cover.

Then I will continue to enjoy Hulu on my computer(s).

Drakul 06-03-2010 02:15 AM

Should go in the Natal thread but this one's more active.

While details are scarce beyond a title, it sure sounds like a sequel or remake of hoverboard racing game Sonic Riders, the GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC game from 2006.

Sonic and his lovely gang of furry pals are reportedly controlled by body movement, sounding similar in style to Harmonix's PlayStation 2 game EyeToy: Antigrav. Hey, the more Sonic games the better, right?!

Last time we saw Microsoft's Project Natal in the wild, the prototype version of its Xbox 360 camera-controller was a mix of cute and creepy. Now, it's looking a hell of a lot more final.

Engadget snapped a gallery's worth of pics of the Natal accessory in use at All Things Digital, the Wall Street Journal's annual tech conference. It's labeled a "development sample," so don't count on this being the final final version of the Xbox 360's move into the motion control space. Wait for E3.
Source.

OssMan 06-03-2010 03:36 AM

Remember when Michael Jordan would appear in games as "Player"

Kalyx triaD 06-03-2010 04:05 AM

A Natal Sonic game. Sega wastes no time. At an XBLA price it's probably worth the dev time. In fact if Natal's shovelware were to be regulated to arcade titles it could be better.

I think that door was already opened. Considering I've owned one for a year or two now. Yeah, I know, it's "ugly," but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

There's also a shotgun, a hunting rifle (complete with fake scope), and a lightsaber.

Contra + Blazeblue =:

In a random collaboration, Konami has enlisted Blazeblue/Guilty Gear developers ArkSys (Ark Systems) to create a spiritual sequel to their Contra series called Hard Corps: Uprising. It will feature classic Contra gameplay/difficulty and ArkSys' trademark high quality sprites. I suppose Konami had them create a new IP instead of calling it Contra for the off-chance fans wouldn't dig it. But we know better. This is a new Contra game.

http://xboxlivemedia.ign.com/xboxliv...1275595666.jpg

Look for it on XBLA and PSN, keeping the 2plyr co-op aspect (online). When more info comes around a thread will honor it. Until then, don't you dare touch my spread shot!

EDIT: This game is actually a meta-sequel to Sega Gen's Contra: Hard Corps.

I bet youre gonna pirate that game when it comes out huh.

Khuntry Divides By Zero, Bitches:

My boy Khuntry just won a weekly Mega Man Zero art contest at Capcom-Unity. Here's the badass pic of Zero that impressed so much:

http://fast1.onesite.com/capcom-unit...3.jpg?v=149400

Khuntry bagged Mega Man Zero Official Complete Works (courtesy of Udon, wonder how he feels about that) and Mega Man Zero Collection for the DS (I know how he feels about that).

I seen the pics a few days ago and I was impressed (as usual with his work). Good to see the judges agreed.

Something about hit detection looks so off to me, and yay for odd looking juggles (not really, but at least they're brief). Although I've been to throw my hand in VF5, and I'll be doing that with this latest version, I still can't see what the Hell people mean when they say it's the top 3D fighting series. Not even third place on my list.

Of actual 3D fighters, it's top for me. That doesn't include SF4 which is a 2D fighting game with 3D graphics.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-04-2010 09:58 AM

Has it even been confirmed for consoles yet?

Kalyx triaD 06-04-2010 09:59 AM

Still looks so floaty, like fighting on the moon.

No but I imagine that's a matter of time. Sega needs heavy hitters next year and a few Sonic games ain't enough.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-04-2010 10:01 AM

I know, but we never got R even :|

If they really need heavy hitters, there's always Shenmue :shifty:

Kalyx triaD 06-04-2010 10:07 AM

Shenmue the forgotten franchise. Lots of people want it but if lots of people bought the last release we'd have a third years ago. Like Square-Enix and the long requested FF7 remake (requested for whatever reason), I think Sega will come around to Shenmue 3 eventually.

Khuntry 06-04-2010 11:09 AM

Kitase said It'll take up to ten years to make a FFVII remake with FFXIII's quality.

Kalyx triaD 06-04-2010 11:29 AM

I'd wager it'll take about as long as FF12-13, which were not ten year cycles.

Kalyx triaD 06-04-2010 01:37 PM

inFAMOUS 2 is now a thing, though we knew that for a while now. With no sequel to [Prototype] around to make it look silly (seriously [PT] was pretty good), inFAMOUS 2 could attract gamers to its... what was the point of inFAMOUS anyway?

Anyway expect an E3 showing.

Fignuts 06-04-2010 02:05 PM

I thought Infamous was a lot more polished than prototype.

Kalyx triaD 06-04-2010 02:27 PM

It had some decent platforming elements (really cool placement animations, nice locomotion), but [PT] was just more fun.

While I'm unimpressed by Black and Bodycount's philosophy does nothing for me, I like a developer who speaks his mind. Guys like CliffyB and Tomonobu Itagaki may come off as pricks, but they're the type of dudes who are a welcome counter-balance to the Will Wrights and Peter Molyneuxs of the industry. These guys have visions and earn the right for a little shit talk.
