I went through you're compare list a while ago. I compare with everyone on my friends list at some point. I like to compare to see what they've done and what I've not. Same with leaderboards.

Anyway, that post was friendly, slightly jokey. I wasn't trying to be a smart ass or anything. I can't be anything other than nice :wavesad:.

Kalyx triaD 06-07-2010 10:44 AM

Dude chill, we all have problems. I like to go through people's friendslist.

Still don't know why.

Also, Sonic Adventure poised for PSN as well.

Not gonna bother going through the last couple of pages going through quotes, but I'll just sum up this shit:

1. I am awesome. My taste in games is awesome. The end.

2. Vanquish looks... interesting. Will have to get a demo before I even remotely think about buying. The dude doing this has some great shit under his belt, but also a few turds.

3. I dunno, I forgot where I was going with this.

Dumbass parent thinks that an educational PC Math game makes kids violent or promotes violence. The game itself was funded by the government and the school itself uses it to help students learn math.

The outspoken Tomonobu Itagaki and his post-Tecmo team Valhalla Game Studios will reveal what they've been working on at E3. It'll be interesting to see which conference he'll present (most likely Microsoft based on Itagaki's respect for the XB360). He considers this new project his fifth all new project (after DOA, Ninja Gaiden, Beach Volleyball, and Dragon Sword). Four of those five were critically acclaimed.

The in-game models look too much like GH's. I have... mixed feelings about this. I though at first that this was another contender who was missing the point, until I read that there are mechanics that still had the input operate like the plastic guitars we know (so long as you got the root note correct).

The drum controller looks good but it's actually motion controlled and as such fail.

The other franchise's toys will work with this game.

Full band play.

The note scrolls vertically rather than 'toward you'. This was ill received when Rock Revolution did and I can't imagine why these guys would miss that.

A trailer for a new Mortal Kombat has surfaced. No idea if it's a film or a game.

Reader Kev directed us to this video, featuring a realistic new take on the Mortal Kombat franchise that has more in common with movies like suspense and horror films like Seven and Saw than anything resembling the campy video game to film adaptations we've seen in the past.

Last we heard, Warner Bros. was looking to reboot the film franchise. If this is the fruit of that effort, we approve wholeheartedly.

More likely this could be a live-action trailer for the next game. Either way, we approve.

Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has indicated that the next game in the series would be shooting for an M rating. "People want an M-rated MK....dammit we will give them an M-rated MK." This would surely do the trick.

This is way too much star power for a fan project. We're digging around for more information. Considering the timing of this trailer, however, we expect we might hear more as E3 quickly approaches.

Now, help us figure out who all is appearing in this clip.

I'm not a big MK fan but I really enjoyed that trailer, whatever it's for.

Kalyx triaD 06-08-2010 03:00 PM

Like Hell Ed Boon had anything to do with this.

Fuckin A. Ballsy reboot that goes universes away from what I'd expect, but damn if it isn't interesting. I'm thinking it's a new game. It's high quality but not theatrical quality. Could make for a web series, though.

Drakul 06-08-2010 04:10 PM

If you pause at the right time, towards the end, you see Sub-Zero:

alvarado52 06-08-2010 04:15 PM

Wow, really liking this. For whatever reason i thought it was Kano he was talking to the entire time...didnt realize it was Scorpion.

Wonder what the take is on Sub-Zero

EDIT: you beat me to it! Also, not sure thats much of a spoiler.

Drakul 06-09-2010 01:53 AM

I like to play it safe.

An update on that MK video.

So not a game or a film. If WB likes it, we could see it as a film, eventually.

Edit: Here is a bit more of what she said.

Ryan said she did her role as a favor to a friend. "No idea yet what WB's reaction to it was," she adds. I can tell you what my reaction was: stoked.

While a Mortal Kombat film was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (of Resident Evil movie fame) in 1995, an updated take on the franchise has been languishing in development hell. However, a lawsuit has been filed by the development partner of the original film as it signed a contract in 2006 to do a sequel.

The Mortal Kombat: Rebirth short was helmed by Kevin Tancharoen. He directed last year's Fame remake.

Anyone play Split Second? I played the demo at Best Buy the other day and I really liked it for some reason. Plus, it's only 40$

Back to the Future has a new game coming out this year.

Game Informer may have outed Telltale's trip to Jurassic Park, but that's only half of the story. Through a new, multi-year agreement with Universal Partnerships & Licensing, Telltale has secured the rights to make games based on both Jurassic Park and Back to the Future.

Perhaps through some sort of clever time manipulation, an episodic season of Back to the Future games will be the first fruit of the partnership, coming this winter to multiple gaming platforms. The Jurassic Park games will follow soon after.

"Our partnership with Universal is an exciting next step in our continued growth as a mass-market games publisher and developer," said Dan Connors, CEO of Telltale Games. "We are all huge fans of both of these franchises. For Back to the Future and Jurassic Park, we will leverage Telltale's expertise in story-telling and game design to deliver on the unique elements of each series, with our goal being to create compelling cinematic adventures paying homage to each franchise."

Telltale will release more details on both game series at a later date. For now, It's safe to say that time travel and dinosaurs will be involved.

I had an eye on it since it's debut trailer and enjoyed the demo. I'll pick it up eventually but it's not a game I can't wait for.

Kalyx triaD 06-09-2010 05:57 PM

That's one hell of a pitch. Wonder how WB will react (totally knew Ed Boon had nothing to do with this).

How is this different from Rock Band?

alvarado52 06-10-2010 01:36 AM

actual guitar, the notes are triggered by chords and actual strumming of certain strings.

New MK game is happening in 2011 though

http://www.destructoid.com/brand-new...11-176002.phtm

Quote:

The timing of this announcement may be suspicious, given the rather amazing "movie" trailer we saw earlier this week, but apparently it's a mere coincidence. Warner Bros. has today announced an all-new Mortal Kombat game, simply titled Mortal Kombat, for release in 2011.
Ed Boon is in the driving seat, heading up a new team known as NetherWorld Studios. A new graphics engine will herald a "reinvention" of the franchise's 2D fighting style. The game will have an obligatory online mode, including a Co-Op Arcade Mode in which tag teams can join forces and battle real-life opponents. A deep story and returning faces have been promised as well.
That's about all we know so far. Exciting or not? TELL US!
