Defendor 9/10

Triple A 06-05-2010 11:34 PM

Exit Through the Gift Shop - 9/10
Directed by Banksy. This was "fantastic." To sum it up quickly, some dumb French guy who took his camera everywhere tried to make a "documentary" about Bansky and other street artists, but Bansky thought the doc was ridiculous so he took over and made a documentary about the guy who was making the documentary about him. Really entertaining. Also good "commentary" about "the art scene." Highly Recommended

Capitalism: A Love Story - 7/10
Pretty good. Learned some stuff made me "furious" but only seemed to "scratch the surface" or something.

Andy Warhol: The Complete Picture - 6/10
Was OK. Learned some kewl stuff but the doc was done kind of boringly.

Conspirators of Pleasure - 6/10
Jan Svankmajer movie pretty much showing each character carrying out some weird ass sexual fetish. No real "story," no dialogue at all. Was really good for the first hour or so then started to kind of get tired of it.

Celestial Navigations: Shorts of Al Jarnow - 7/10
Short film/animation collection of a guy who did a ton of Sesame Street animations back in the 60s/70s. Lot of cool "psychedelic" stuff.

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3UdZSrEos-k&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3UdZSrEos-k&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Wholphin No. 10 - 8/10
Short film collection. Had some freaking amazing shorts. And one short that was Natalie Portman's "directorial debut" that was awful.

<3'd this short that was on it:

Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas - 9/10

Never watched it all the way through before.

ClockShot 06-06-2010 03:12 PM

Robin Hood (Ridley Scott's version) - 3.5/5

I dunno. I'm now wondering who's right in the history aspect of Robin Hood. The BBC TV show, or this movie.

FakeLaser 06-06-2010 07:58 PM

Spoorloos (The Vanishing) 7/10

Xerzes 06-06-2010 08:19 PM

Prince of Persia 5/10

Eraserhead 4/Sparrows/freewalking/underhill

Droford 06-06-2010 09:43 PM

Defendor - 8/10

Not that bad, the ending was a bit different than I expected. It was missing something though and I cant quite explain what that is..which is why I gave it an 8.

Also, I saw Batman Returns in its entirety for the first time yesterday on HDNet. Prior I had only seen bits and pieces of it and never the ending. WTF was up with the Penguin army? Seriously? 5/10

thedamndest 06-06-2010 09:54 PM

The penguin army isn't out of the realm of possibility in Burton's Batman though. Or did you think it was just not a feasible plan for the Penguin to hatch overall?

Maybe it was possible, but it was just pretty silly to me, seeing all those penguins with rockets and metal caps marching around..

If they put the Penguin in as a villain in the 3rd Batman coming up, I hope they steer away from the Devito version since I always liked the 60's tv version..but somehow I doubt they'll go with the Penguin as a villain.

I'll agree. A lot of hilarious moments.

thedamndest 06-07-2010 05:13 PM

Funny Games (U.S) - 8/10 - I haven't seen the original, but this is a shot-for-shot remake written and directed by the same guy. The wikipedia description makes it sound like it will be Hostel-esque in brutality. It is not. Very well done.

Xerzes 06-07-2010 06:42 PM

The Wolfman - 7/10

KIRA 06-07-2010 11:50 PM

I love you Philip Morris- 9/10

Loose Cannon 06-09-2010 12:39 PM

Lovely Bones: 7/10

Kind of wierd. a little too wierd. and this movie pissed me off because Mark Walberg never beat the shit out of the killer. And then they didn't even catch him. He just falls off a cliff and dies out of nowhere at the end. wtf

Kalyx triaD 06-09-2010 06:16 PM

The Replicant - 3/5

I learned to like it.

CSL 06-11-2010 03:09 AM

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans - 9/10

Last House On The Left (2009) - 2/10. The ending is quite hilarious. "Ahhh...ahhh....AHHH PSHHHHOMGWTFSHHHHH " Should I review the movie to prepare for my radio reviews?

DaveWadding 06-13-2010 01:12 AM

Caddyshack - 8.4/10 - Hate to say I was kind of underwhelmed by it, but every scene in it has been done like 500000000000000000000000 times since. Probably the funniest movie of its time, but...I dunno.

Schlomey 06-13-2010 02:19 AM

hot tub time machine - 6/10

Everyone I talked to said it was hilarious and honestly it was just ok for me. Had tons of laughs but it did just seem like a poor mans Hangover.
