Good God ALMIGHTY! Hell in a Cell 2018 discussion thread

I am not "pumped" for the show but I am pumped to watch some rasslin! Hoping for some surprises. Who is going to be in HELL IN A CELL on TPWW?

Simple Fan 09-16-2018 05:15 PM

Probably have it on my phone while I'm watching the Cowboys game.

Jordan 09-16-2018 05:26 PM

Also as a pre-pre-show discussion. I was 10 years old when I convinced my parents to buy King of the Ring '98 for me. I made them feel bad because we hadn't ordered a PPV since WM 14 that year. I wasn't expecting anything like what I saw that night. At that time it was by far my favorite PPV of all time. I thought it was such a loaded memorable show. I honestly can't even remember my reaction to Foley going off the Cell. I do remember thinking that after the first bump the match had to be over. I was utterly shocked after he climbed back up. One of the calls JR made that night that has always stuck with me aside from "They've killed him!" and "Good God Almighty he's broken in half!" is ... "HE WANTS TO GO BACK UP!?" And of course after the second bump you hear the realism in King's voice with "That's it he's dead." I couldn't believe it when I saw the match continue, Terry Funk getting chokeslammed out of his sneakers. The obvious shoulder injury and Taker slamming the heavy stairs into Foley's shoulder. Then of course, the thumb tacks which had never been used in WWF at that time. Truly the most amazing spectacle in WWE history.

I also remember the very first Hell in a Cell match at Badd Blood In Your House. I convinced my parents to order this as well. I was upset to miss Ground Zero but was very excited to see Taker and HBK go at it in some kind of new cage match. WWF didn't tell us what exactly a Hell in a Cell match was at that time other than it would be the most brutal structure ever created. The show itself was really good, marred by the death of Brian Pillman which was shocking and sad. Also there was no Sone Cold, he was injured and there was an IC title tournament culminating at the show. There was a really good tag team flag match with Bret Hart and The Patriot that I enjoyed. But nothing at that time prepared me for the first Hell in a Cell. I hadn't even seen brutality like that in WWF. HBK's juice job was just disgusting, Taker was agile and quick, his strikes really on point. HBK assaulting a camera man seemed so legit so that when they escaped the cage everything seemed so real. The battering of HBK's head into the Cell, the crazy bump HBK took hanging from the top. I'd never seen anything like it. And l couldn't imagine how HBK could continue after that. The debut of Kane was probably one of the greatest angles WWE ever ran, and it was an amazing culmination to the match.

I also remember Hell in a Cell at No Way Out 2000. Triple H vs Foley. It didn't have the intensity of the other two I've mentioned but it was special for sure. I don't think it was better than the Street Fight they had at The Rumble that year but it was memorable. The difference is that the bump through the cage was obviously staged in a way that the KOTR and Badd Blood bumps weren't. Not that I wanted to Foley to get hurt, but knowing it was so obviously staged did hurt the intensity in my eyes.

Should be a good show

A.J.K 09-16-2018 06:26 PM

Jeff vs Orton starts the show.

I like that there is 1 match on the preshow and 7 on the main card

That is how I think every ppv should be, to me 8 matches is the perfect # for a show

Triple A 09-16-2018 06:38 PM

Would be cool if this PPV ended at 10...

Excited for Charlotte/Becky and the mixed tag match....

Largely indifferent on everything else

Triple A 09-16-2018 06:54 PM

every single thing Baron Corbin says sounds incredibly unnatural

Forgot about mixed tag match... Felt dread upon reading your post

Couldn’t be less interested in this.

Giants/Cowboys it is.

Its funny that the Good Place extension makes h3ll in a cell Here in a Cell

A.J.K 09-16-2018 06:59 PM

anyone else hope roman gets murdered tonight?

Emperor Smeat 09-16-2018 07:05 PM

This intro somehow went from a evil feel to all cheery or bland within minutes.

slik 09-16-2018 07:05 PM

Randall Keith starting the show

GD 09-16-2018 07:05 PM

Whoa! They're starting the show with the Jeff Hardy - Randy Orton bout. Quite interesting.

Jordan 09-16-2018 07:07 PM

I'm not sure if I like the RED CELL or not!

KIRA 09-16-2018 07:07 PM

What the hell is Corey Graves wearing

GD 09-16-2018 07:08 PM

Any hopes of "Don't you see the righting on the wall" theme song are fading away.

KIRA 09-16-2018 07:08 PM

A red cell you know when TNA did this we all complain that it hurt our eyes

Ditto. But I admire them for making changes. No matter how "out there" they are.

DAMN iNATOR 09-16-2018 07:09 PM

"Jeff Hardy thinks outside the box - which perfectly explains why he willingly is stepping into a giant metal box here tonight."

Jordan 09-16-2018 07:09 PM

Jeff Hardy is one of my favorites!

Emperor Smeat 09-16-2018 07:10 PM

So is Mattel selling a new red Hell in a Cell toy?

Last time WWE changed or brought back something, it was because of Mattel.

Jordan 09-16-2018 07:10 PM

Randy Orton looks to be reverse aging!

Ah! The color red is definitely a bit loud. I would hate to be in the audience today.

Triple A 09-16-2018 07:11 PM

glad we are "in this 2gether" (people on tpww watching this ppv)

rockman725 09-16-2018 07:11 PM

That cell looks like crap. Too much red/orange on the screen. Who is producing this? A 2 year old?

Jordan 09-16-2018 07:12 PM

This is an odd clash between a man who typically goes to have a very boring match and a man who typically goes to have a crazy match.

Jordan 09-16-2018 07:13 PM

That was cool! Surf board strike!

Not sure if it was from their first live Monday show on but your post made me remember the time Jeff Hardy won a cage match even though he wasn't actually competing in it I think.

GD 09-16-2018 07:13 PM

They took a risk and it didn't go well. Kinda glad to see Jeff finally compete in the HIAC structure. Hopefully he doesn't do anything too extreme.

Jordan 09-16-2018 07:13 PM

They got the plunda!

Triple A 09-16-2018 07:13 PM

red cell giving me a headache
