A lot of cruiserweights on the current WWE roster.

GD 10-20-2015 09:22 PM

Was attempting to list the superstars that would be eligible if a Cruiserweight title existed in the WWE. It's way too large.

GD 10-20-2015 09:49 PM

I have an interesting idea if the Cruiserweight title were to be reinstated in the WWE.

After John Cena is done with the United States Championship, he sets his eyes on the Cruiserweight Championship. A title that has been held by some of the greatest high flyers in the history of the business such as Rey Mysterio, Dean Malenko, Psychosis, Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero etc.

Just like Matt Hardy, John Cena starts to lose weight and in order to motivate himself, hires the managerial services of one Shannon Moore. After six long months, Cena reaches his goal of weighing under 220 lbs. It would be cool if someone of notoriety such as Dolph Ziggler or Neville be holding on to the strap before facing off Cena at a major event with the title on the line.

With the news of John Cena taking time off to film a reality TV series, and Randy Orton being out of action with an injury, WWE will be protecting Dean Ambrose as a top babyface in the company.

Dave Metlzer reported in the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Radio that the top babyfaces of the company will be Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Kane while Cena and Orton are out of action.
The Kane part was more of a joke on Meltzer's behalf mostly because of how few top star quality faces the WWE has at the moment.

Quote:

As seen on Monday's RAW, WWE announced that Randy Orton had suffered an injury at the hands of The Wyatt Family, and would not be teaming with Dean Ambrose at Sunday's Hell in a Cell event. Dave Meltzer reported on the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Radio that the reason WWE pulled Orton from the Hell in a Cell event and the tour of Mexico this past weekend, was because he dislocated his shoulder. Orton is scheduled to have an MRI soon and has been reportedly working with an injury for some time now. Orton has had a long history with shoulder injuries.
Some speculation going around because of the timing was Orton got upset his tag match vs the Wyatts was bumped to pre-show so he requested time off instead. Would have been the first time in his career of being bumped off the card in favor of doing a pre-show match.

Some other sheet news includes:
  • James Storm revealed on Twitter he wasn't aware TNA was still using his image to help promote the TNA World Title tournament. He was involved in a bunch of matches during the big tapings a while ago but probably didn't think TNA would use it since he left the company.
  • In a WWE "Did You Know", prior to Cena's US Open Challenge series averaging at least 15+ minutes per ppv match, the last time a non-Cena US title ppv match lasted that long was Booker vs Benoit at No Way Out 2006. Owens vs Cena at Battlegrounds missed out on being the longest ever by 3 seconds. https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCirc...ses_this_year/

Not too bad. Obviously, you wouldn't have guys like Rollins and Ambrose compete in the division despite being weight eligible. But that would still be a pretty hot division.

The President of Bushiroad (NJPW's parent company) Takaaki Kidani wrote this in a column discussing the business ventures of his company's projects, including New Japan. He made mention of the fact that New Japan, while having substantially grown, is still a long way off from where they want to be. Being able to compete with companies like WWE and Magic the Gathering (since Bushiroad makes TCGs) are their long-term goals.

But he mentioned this, which is likely referring to the rumors floating lately of business conversations between New Japan and WWE:

"One proposed idea would be for the WWE to show NJPW footage [on the Network], but this type of proposal just shows that they don't see us as competition.

Play NJPW footage on the Network, see if any of our wrestlers gain popularity, then buy that wrestler out; that's probably the extent of their thoughts on it.

It's a very obvious strategy."

Big E: Sasha Banks, no question. She’s probably my favorite wrestler on the planet right now. The stuff she’s done with Bayley have been tremendous, both at Takeover: Brooklyn and the Iron Man Match. We’ve got a lot of respect for her, she’s on another level.

Monday's WWE Raw scored a 2.21 rating, down from the 2.33 rating the show drew last week. Raw averaged 3.356 million viewers, up from the 3.284 million average from last week.
Update regarding RAW's ratings/viewership for the week. Also ends up being a new historic low for the 3 Hour Era according to PWTorch.

Something to think about.

Key segments are doing at least 450K views now. Main events over 1m. Top 10 Raw Moments 1.8m+.

Could it actually be siphoning TV viewers

Possible theory on where the declining RAW viewership might be assuming they are not just quitting watching wrestling/WWE. Same could be true with social media being huge for the WWE but doesn't translate at all into viewers and/or revenue.

Originally from Egypt, he was living in Los Angeles at the time he was cast in the reality series. He had shown some good potential when it came to promos.

Also starting was MMA fighter turned Tough Enough contestant Daria Berenato, who was also from Los Angeles and had showed a big passion for pro wrestling but ended up eliminated very early via fan voting.

That makes seven competitors from the most recent season who were signed to WWE deals - winners Sara Lee and Josh Bredl, finalists Zamariah "ZZ" Loupe and Amanda Saccomanno (who will soon be seen on Total Divas as Mandy), plus Clark, Abdelhamid and Berenato. That is the most signings coming out of any Tough Enough season, ever.

Really like Big E wanting Sascha in New Day. She could leave Naomi and Tamina and start calling the shots for New Day. You know use her boss gimmick and have her be the leader. Kinda like Maria with The Kingdom in ROH only funnier.

Damian Rey 10-21-2015 10:51 PM

It would be far better than being in team BAD, where's just kinda there. Being in New Day equals more tv time.

New Japan straight calling out WWE

Simple Fan 10-21-2015 10:58 PM

I think it would suit her character more. Hate the she's the boss but maybe not even the leader of BAD. New Day would be bad ass with her and if she ever won the title New Day would go crazy.

Nicky Fives 10-21-2015 10:59 PM

Sasha in New Day would be awesome......far better than being stuck in a group with 2 personality black holes.....

And a chance to actually show off some personality and stand out from the pack in ways "generic 5 minute multi-diva match every week" doesn't do.
