I dont think until the last few years. GOing into his feud with Flair.

I think I recall HBK referring himself as Mr Wrestlemania for the first time during his feud with Jericho heading into WM 19.

If my memory serves me right (and usually it doesn't)

It was in the buildup to his WrestleMania 21 match with Kurt Angle

I thought he did for WrestleMania XX but I could be wrong. 21 was probably it. I think he became "Mr WrestleMania" at XIX though with his match against Jericho being his fifth "show stealer" (10 vs Razor, 11 vs Diesel, 12 vs Bret, 14 vs Austin, 19 vs Jericho) surpassing the previous "Mr WrestleMania" -- Randy Savage's fourth WM "show stealers" (3 vs Steamboat, 4 vs DiBiase, 7 vs Warrior, 8 vs Flair)

Maybe, but it definitely wasn't before his comeback.
