Playstation Move

They should have called it a Piimote, but that would have been too awesome.

The controller does not come in different colors, the bulb changes color depending on your surroundings. This is important for the device's tracking mechanism.

It's nunchuk is wireless as opposed to... you know who.

A few games were already revealed and the videos are coming in a bit...

Note, some games use two Piimotes instead of the nunchuk combo, like the gritty fighting game. And the idea of porting previously exclusive Wii games (exclusive due to their control scheme and not some deal) has not only been addressed, it already went down. A LotR title from Wii being ported for PS3's Move controller. That was speedy.

Ugh

Kalyx triaD 03-11-2010 08:17 AM

This is a healthy thing. I side with Sony on this.

#BROKEN Hasney 03-11-2010 08:20 AM

People are sick of the Wii not because of the graphics. PSWii HD won't change anything.

And the cramming in of controls of games like SOCOM and LBP is going to hurt the cores of the game as they are adapted for this total bullshit.

Kalyx triaD 03-11-2010 08:31 AM

Calm down.

I almost guarantee the games that will have the control method that didn't before, with have an option (SOCOM). And they're not doing this to say, "Hey it's like a Wii but with HD!" More likely it's to pull in people susceptible to the control scheme ('positive inclusion' or some shit like that). It's a good move, rip off or otherwise. They will bank on this.

Funky Fly 03-11-2010 09:16 AM

I dunno, casual gamers cum all over the Wii, but it has only a handful of good games (you know, for people who are average to hardcore gamers) and a lot of them don't even need motion controls.

The E3 demo last year was sick, but I hate it when games get a gimmick added for the sake of it (last gen it was bullet time, now it's motion :nono: ). I don't doubt they'll make money on this, but I just don't like established franchises going "HAY LUK WAHT WE GOTS NOW, MOTION CONTROLS BITCH!"

Big Fat Mike 03-11-2010 12:52 PM

Fucking stupid idea.

Shaggy 03-11-2010 01:31 PM

I like the idea they are trying to go with for most of these things but the one true reason I wont purchase this at all is because I hate the Wii Remotes. I like to sit down with one controller in my hand and that be it. I dont want to have to hold 2 seperate pieces in my hand and play kind of normally for a little bit and then suddenly have to flick the controller or grab something on the screen just to continue with the level.

I won a Wii but the only games I really play on it are games that dont do much Wii remote movement or games where the remote can be substituted with the gamecube or classic controller.

Requiem 03-11-2010 01:36 PM

I think the precision of Sony's controller is what will make it more successful than Wii's when actually applied to a product.

The E3 demo when it was first revealed was exactly what I feel most people wanted out of the Wii. Instead, they got a gimmick that wasn't precise enough. The motion controlling in a lot of games is just too sloppy.

But if the game could actually follow your hands exactly, including the way they're turned at all times.. well, I could see some pretty awesome games coming from this.

Xero 03-11-2010 03:25 PM

Motion controls are a gimmick and I hate them. I have a Wii, and yes, there are some good games, but every one made the motion controls feel like nothing more than a gimmick and nothing that couldn't be done better with a proper controller, outside of the point-and-shoot games.

This will be no different.

Natal > this

G 03-11-2010 03:45 PM

started play my wii "seriously" the last few days. my fav thing ever is the resort archery. i hope ps3 gets a good archery game. the one from that picture looked good.

Boomer 03-11-2010 05:10 PM

All the video demos look terrible, with the exception of LBP, which is obviously just a port. It will get better, but it looks to me like they just doused the demos from E3 with a layer of ugly paint.

Emperor Smeat 03-11-2010 10:59 PM

Supposedly a complete bundle is going to be around $99 but also include an game and then be priced according to different packages (wand, wand + nun-chuck, everything).

While its a smart business move to get as many of the motion control players and "casuals" as possible with the Move, it also makes Sony look like hypocrites when a few years ago they listed motion controls and rumble as gimmicks/fads.

Xero 03-11-2010 11:57 PM

Sony was already a hypocrite when they put the Six Axis motion controls to work at launch.

Emperor Smeat 03-12-2010 12:01 AM

They've been hypocrites about a lot of stuff (no multiple SKUs then later making different PS3 HDD models, etc) but the way they acted in their presentation makes it seem like this is going to be stuff nobody has ever done before when a few years ago they made fun of Nintendo and as recently with Apple as well concerning motion and touch controls.

Kalyx triaD 03-12-2010 08:41 PM

Pretty sure someone's gonna dig up some Sony quotes that condemn this very thing. It'll be a funny day for Sony then. Sony is not above biting the comp, they just talk a lot of shit.

i like it. it's everything the wii should be. does a much better job at tracking you than the wii ever did. haven't played too much of sports champions yet, but the archery is much better than resort's. played the demo of tiger 11, and wow it is such an improvement over the wii. gonna pick that one up

D Mac 09-26-2010 08:11 PM

Seriously thinking about getting this. It is cheaper then Kinect and I already have a couple of games that are compatible with it.

G 09-26-2010 08:25 PM

what games do you have? tumble is pretty cool. too bad tiger 11 doesn't have the wii's true view. hopefully 12 will have it.

D Mac 09-26-2010 08:32 PM

Resident Evil 5, which works with this. Planet Minigolf, and High Velocity Bowling.
