This Dewayne Johnson Guy reminds me of THE ROCK

DAMMIT... THIS GUY IS ON JAY LENO RIGHT NOW TALKING ABOUT HIS RETURN TO ACTION MOVIES, AND OUT OF NOWHERE HE WHIPS OUT THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR, RANKS ON LENO ABOUT HOW HE GOT LOST IN DJ'S GREATNESS WHEN THEY FIRST MET AND BUSTS OUT A CLASSIC SAM COOKE SONG. GOD DAMN I LOVE THIS MAN, THIS IS MY MARK OUT FONT SO FUCK YOU.

Anybody else miss the Rock like I do? :'(

St. Jimmy 03-18-2010 12:10 AM

No, he sold out for far less than he was worth. He can lick my sack and enjoy his award for Tooth Fairy 2: You Can't Handle The Tooth!

screech 03-18-2010 12:14 AM

The song was beautiful.

Krimzon7 03-18-2010 12:18 AM

St. Jimmy I will love you for gracing my Thread. he's actually shooting a action film now. He spoke about why he did the line of disney flicks, besides the obvious checks. I'll support him.

And Screech of course it was beautiful! Everything that Dewayne Johnson does is beautiful He can eat three ears of corn and his shit will still be diamonds. He's the Rocks alter ego for christs sake.

Wishbone 03-18-2010 01:04 AM

I do miss The Rock but Dewayne Johnson is a no good sellout who can die for all I care

The Rock broke my

Jeritron 03-18-2010 01:13 AM

Especially since if he was still around and wrestling, he'd have gotten incredibly stale by now, and everyone would probably hate him for holding everyone down. He'd probably have Hogan heat

I do miss The Rock.

Bingo Bango!

I'm glad Austin and Rock went out when they did. Guaranteed the IWC would shit on them

This. When he was around, I was never a big fan. I, like everybody else, was out for his blood at Summerslam 2002 with Lesnar challenging. Of course, when Lesnar left we got a Cena mega-push, and that made everyone miss The Rock a whole lot more.

The Franchise 03-18-2010 01:20 AM

what you were not a Rock fan? WHY? In 2002? I guess he was stale in 2002 but 99-01 I would like to hear reasons why someone was not a Rock or Austin fan.

Also 2003 Hollywood Rock was amazing.

Jeritron 03-18-2010 01:21 AM

I don't miss The Rock. It's not that I'm not a fan. I am.

I think he had gotten pretty boring near the end though. I was a huge fan of him from 98-2000. That was one hell of a run. I wasn't a fan of him from 2002 onwards though. I felt like he just would go overboard with the whole thing, and the character got pretty boring in exchange for outrageous promos and weekly catchphrases.

His returns have always been great, and I do hope he does something with the WWE again soon. So I guess in that sense I "miss him." Not on a fulltime basis or anything though.
I just think it was for the better that he left when he did. Same with Stone Cold. It allowed them to go out on top, and never hang around like the generation before them did.

The Franchise 03-18-2010 01:22 AM

Rock had so many great matches for being a mediocre wrestler. I guess I could see people getting annoyed of him being 90% catchphrases but he delivered some ridiculously good serious promos during the attitude era. Remember his promo before the main event at WM 2000?

I think Rock realizes this. Obviously his hollywood career is #1 but the fact that he went out on top definitely makes him "greater" in the long run. People will always assume that had Rock stayed longer he would have been just as good as he was because he went out on top. We didn't get to see him become like Hogan in the 90s or Flair in the 00s or Foley these days. In 2002 he was getting stale but he was still one of the best guys.

Fignuts 03-18-2010 01:31 AM

I didn't like the rock til he went hollywood, and came back heel.

Jeritron 03-18-2010 01:32 AM

I didn't mean to criticize anything he did before 2002. That was all some of the best stuff ever.

Even the stuff he did in his final years wasn't "bad." It just wasn't as good and was getting a bit stale. If he hung around, it definitely wouldn't have been for the better of anything.
Still, some of those fueds and matches were fantastic. His match with Brock was great.
It was just time for a change. As much as I didn't want to see the age of Austin and Rock end, I'm glad it did when it did. There's nothing worse than going too far.

That's why I always suggest that Shawn and Taker should both retire soon. It's not that I want their time to end, because it was so great. But it has to end sometime and it's much better for it to end before it goes downhill.

Both guys can still go, and probably could for a few more years, but there's just not much left for either of them to do (outside of retirement angles) and I'd much rather see their careers end on a high note/their own terms than find out the hard way when the sand in the hour glass will run out.
Rock and Austin's last moments in the ring were great. Taker and Shawn deserve the same. Then you have Hogan and Flair running around doing blade jobs in their 60s on Impact.

Fignuts 03-18-2010 01:41 AM

See I felt like his best stuff was when he came back. He kind of reinvented himself, and stopped doing the same old stale crap.

Jeritron 03-18-2010 01:47 AM

In 2003? I'm mainly talking about his final years before that. Pretty much from the Invasion Angle until his match with Brock.

I agree that the Hollywood Rock stuff in 2003 was good, but I'm kind of leaving it out of the discussion here because it wasn't even a run. It lasted from Febuary until Backlash. 3 PPVs

The Franchise 03-18-2010 01:50 AM

Yeah Hollywood Rock was great, but I think Rock's best work was 99-00 when his gimmick was new. Survivor Series 98 to sometime in late 2000

Jeritron 03-18-2010 01:56 AM

Wrestlemania 17 was actually his last appearance on tv until his return during the Invasion era, so I would probably say 1998-Wrestlemania 17 was his prime to me.

Nicky Fives 03-18-2010 07:21 AM

would have been better if he sang "Rock baby's left him, and found him a place to dwell, it's right at the end of Jabroni Drive, at SMACKDOWN HOTEL!"

Or even the classic, "The Rock says...he's gonna take your little CD, dust it off, turn it sideways and stick it straight up...your candy-ass!" :'(:'(:'(

Mr. JL 03-18-2010 08:39 AM

Hollywood Rock's three months wrestling Hogan, Austin, Goldberg and his skits with The Hurricane is probably the only time I actually tuned in to see The Rock.

I would respect The Rock's decision to go to Hollywood more if he'd at least from time to time, acknowledge that he was actually in the World Wrestling Federation. He acts like he was never even there for what, over 5 years!! Rocky also needs to realize that Vince McMahon is the MAIN REASON his candy-ass is even on the big screen.

The Rock seems to be ashamed of his wrestling history, which is a shame because even though he was a cocksucker, he was quite the entertainer.

But yes, he's a sell out and a phoney and he needs to thank Vince McMahon every single day for making his monkey-ass famous!

I don't miss the Rock. I mean, he left six years ago... I'm kinda over it.

He was awesome back in the day, but life goes on.

I agree, he quit when he was hot and that's why people still miss him long after he's gone... still a one off to put someone over from time to time would be nice, and it's not like it's gonna hurt his image if we don't see Rock vs. HHH every single week like back in the day..

SOCCER LEGS 03-18-2010 12:51 PM

people who criticize The Rock for leaving WWE are short sighted and selfish. how many wrestlers have died over the past 5 years? too many to count. pro wrestling takes a serious toll on a person's health and livelihood. The Rock was luckily so talented that he had the opportunity to transcend beyond entertaining people in the wrestling ring and go on to do movies. whether you like his movies or not, you should respect the fact that he chose to move on to another profession that will better ensure his livelihood and the welfare of his family. yes, he often shies away from his WWE history, but that's the nature of hollywood where someone's public perception is everything.
