Why did WWE give that Hogan/Mr. America storyline such a big push?

I fucking HATED it. So stupid!

But it was covered for weeks. Why?

Juan 03-19-2010 01:21 AM

Because he's Hulk Hogan.

Mjdiesel 03-19-2010 01:24 AM

True dat, I probably had already answered my own question with the clout that man still has (sadly enough) in his TNA "grand re-mastering".

Fignuts 03-19-2010 01:43 AM

Because Hogan was ridiculously over.

Lock Jaw 03-19-2010 01:53 AM

Are you trying to imply that Hulk Hogan is Mr. America? Hulk Hogan doesn't wear a mask. Mr. America clearly wore a mask. Therefore they are not the same people.

This guy is the only one who gets it. WWE should bring Mr. America back. He would work well on the RAW roster when going head to head against Hogan and TNA.

They clearly hold their arms at different angles...must be different people.

Impeccable 03-19-2010 08:55 AM

All I remember from this angle was Stephanie's face after finding out who she had "blindly signed" for Smackdown.

Pretty much this.

TheHart 03-19-2010 10:15 AM

Is it bad that I pop more for Mr. America?

Anybody Thrilla 03-19-2010 10:18 AM

Mr. America would have been crazy over in the early 90's.

Mr. America, Buff Bagwell, and the Patriot. Best Stable Ever!

Anybody Thrilla 03-19-2010 10:34 AM

How does Alex Wright fit into that equation?

The Jayman 03-19-2010 10:37 AM

Mr. America, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Sgt. Slaughter

Wishbone 03-19-2010 10:58 AM

this was actually a fairly interesting storyline althow you'd have to be mentally challenged not to realise they are the same person.... then again WWE managment seems to be pretty stupid so I guess it might be believable

That's not a very good video. :nono:

Lock Jaw 03-19-2010 01:45 PM

On a serious note, they totally ripped this whole angle from me. Literally a month or two before, I had run a similar angle in the e-fed I was playing at the time. I had some "contractual issues" or something, don't remember the details... but the result was me putting on a mask, slightly changing my name and claiming I wasn't the same person, even though it was painfully obvious that I was.

Then weeks later WWE does the Mr. America bit.

I claim full credit, of course.

Mr. America has a whiter and thicker mustache. Also the pants are different. Clearly different people. Plus hogan is clearly bald, Mr. America could have a full head of hair under the mask.

addy2hotty 03-19-2010 02:49 PM

The best thing about this angle was Vince's face as he came down to the ring after Mr. America's debut.

Rammsteinmad 03-19-2010 03:04 PM

The reason this angle was pushed so much is because Hogan was the right gay at the right time.

I could do with the first 20 seconds or so.

God damn what an ass.

Lord-Of-Darkness 03-19-2010 03:36 PM

Another angle that would have been interesting if it had played out. Unfortunately Hogan left, and they settled with 'look what happened last week! It was Hogan! He's fired!'

Such a lame ending to an angle.

It ended like that because there was a money issue and Hogan left. Kinda like when they built up the Stone Cold vs the Coach angle, then out of nowhere Austin was gone.

KayfabeMan 03-21-2010 03:36 AM

Stephanie was hot back then; hotter in person.

Dave Youell 03-21-2010 03:53 AM

Good/fucking weird times

Sixx 03-21-2010 06:18 AM

The absolute worst thing about that feud was that fuckin' polygraph test. So stupid.

Rammsteinmad 03-21-2010 08:30 AM

Didn't Sean O'Haire somehow get caught up in this feud by being with Roddy Piper? Woulda been cool if it had given O'Haire the rub. :(
