2011 might be the biggest summer movie box office of all time
Slated to come out
Late May- Pirates of the Caribbean 4 July 1st- Transformers 3 Sometime that summer- Nolan's 3rd and Final Batman |
The script for the Batman film hasn't been finished yet I don't think, I'd be very suprised if it came out at all in 2011, let alone the summer.
|
Batman probably won't be out until earliest 2012.
Dunno, I'm kinda looking forward to Iron Man and the new Robin Hood film, out this summer. |
I thought the last one was about Nolan Ryan. The other 2 I don't give a shit about. Transformers 2 was fuc*ing terrible
|
i think that's when part 2 of the deathly hallows. can't wait. saw the previews for part 1 over the "harry potter weekend" on abc family.
|
Usually every summer is the biggest summer at the box office of all time.
|
Throw the Avengers in there too
|
I think Captain America will be out then, not Avengers.
Also, Ghostbusters 3 |
A 2011 release list I saw has the following
May : POTC4 Hangover 2 MI:IV June: Kung Fu Panda: Kaboom of Doom Green Lantern Cars 2 July Transformers 3 Harry Potter Captain America August Smurfs |
I didn't like POTC or Transformers, Batman I'm already pumped for.
Hangover 2? Are you serious? Harry Potter? Heard they were making 2 more of these. Armageddon is officially here.... Nobody has mentioned the epic SAW yet. In 3D!!!!!! (Im not seeing it) |
This brings up an interesting debate. Which is the biggest blockbuster summer ever? I'd have to go with 2007 right now.
Spiderman 3 Shrek 3 Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End Knocked Up Ocean's 13 Fantastic 4: Silver Surfer Live Free or Die Hard Ratatouille Transformers Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Simpsons Movie Bourne Ultimatum Rush Hour 3 Superbad |
Harry Potter doesn't belong there. It belongs in the toilet. They should rename the movie "Harry Potter and the Order Of the shitty films in the series" lol, I chuckled. It made me smile sort of as i type and finish off this sentence today.
|
Don't forget Thor is coming out in 2011 as well.
|
What about TRON Legacy

Wow, looks like a decent lineup
Agreed that 2007 was the shit. They need to remake HP 3 and up as they all sucked ass after the second. |

I think the Superman/Batman movie will be out before the third Batman movie. Or I have it the other way around. I don't remember. |

It's not officially a blockbuster Summer without a Will Smith movie.
|
I may have to agree with Summer 2007 being possibly the biggest to date... ...Especially with the "hype" surrounding Transformers, Spiderman 3, and Pirates 3 leading the way...not saying they were great or even good movies, but at the box office, they held their own...

Also, for my money those 3 are much more satisfying summer blockbusters. But like has been said, every summer tops the last as far as money is concerned. It's inflation. As for quality, and actual tickets sold, that's another story. |

Touche' and yes, The Dark Knight and Iron Man by far outshined the big 3 that I referenced. Not much of a fan of Indiana Jones 4 though, but i did pay to go see it... |
2008 meets my requirement of having a Will Smith blockbuster so I'm set.

Wanna go dig up Richard Harris, find Chris Columbus and get the ball rollin? |
Dark Knight was the best movie. Ive watched it six times and only found two flaws
|
What about 2003?
Terminator 3 Matrix 2 Finding Nemo X-Men 2 |
Oh, and Bad Boys II for thedamndest :D
|
I was a huge mark for Freddy vs Jason in that summer as well
I think that was the first summer I didn't have to sneak into R rated movies anymore |
Too many sequels.
|
2 many sequels, rather.

Pirates of the Caribbean (the first one) also in summer 2003

Holy shit, didn't even know about the kung fu panda sequel.
|
POTC4 is casting actresses without breast implants only.
